Margarito should be in jail.
I would like Cotto to stay at 154 and go after big names like Martinez or Williams, he may come short but at least he will try. That's what boxers are supposed to do and what he has always done.
Margarito does not belong in the ring with these champions. What kind of message would you be sending to wannabe boxers if you let a guy make a fortune with bricks in the gloves?
But he cannot just go to Golden Boy, can he? I guess the terms of his contract with Arum tie him for a while. I just hope he can make his interests count against those of Arum that just seems fixated on rehabilitating Margarito and cashing in on the name of a Chavez Jr., who as of now would add very very little to Cotto's resumé. Lately, and in this video in particular, Cotto seems very bitter with everything and not enjoying himself or his achievements.
I am really looking forward to that fight. Maidana does not just have a puncher's chance. It is his great chin and constant pressure that give him the edge. Sure Khan dominates him with faster straighter punches but for how long? I see no escape for him. Maidana in 6.
I think people are really overrating Martinez. I do not think he could hold his own against a Mayweather or a Pacquiao at 160, let alone 154, they are just in a different class level. I can even picture him losing his next fight against Dzinziruk. C'mon, he barely defeated a champ who was struggling with alcohol and he was loosing his fight against Williams until Williams left himself open for a fully loaded overhand left.
yes please!
I want to believe that this is true and that promoters pride does not stand on the way of professionalism. This fight is a great opportunity for both Cotto and Martinez. Martinez could get a victory over one of the greatest recent champions and a lot of name recognition. Cotto could get back in the line for fights against Pacquiao and Mayweather and clinch a (to be sincere fake) 4th weight title.
Vitali may win or lose this fight because age is obviously catching up with him and because Solis in his own right, if in shape, is no joke. No matter what, when Vitali looks at his career he will have nothing to be ashamed of.
Vitali is a warrior and has faced every opponent around and outclassed them all, basically winning every round he has fought and knocking out everyone that would actually fight him. Lewis was a great fighter but was outclassed and taken his heart by Vitali and shamefully retired with his lucky victory to avoid fighting him again. Vitali haters must be crazy or really in the nuts of David Haye, another great fighter without enough pride and warrior spirit.
This is too wide. There is no reason to doubt Dawson when he says he can make this weight and he has the advantage in terms of experience. Ward has never fought at this level. Dawson has. And he has won.
