Another controversy and another black eye for boxing. Just what the sport doesn't need right now. With the upcoming Mayweather circus act, the credibility of boxing will suffer even further.
On neutral ground, there should have been a five minute delay before resuming the fight.
If ( and that is a very unlikely if in my opinion) he gets into real good shape, he has a solid chance to do that. His style is really bewildering. It couls also be that he will never fight again, with Fury you´ll never know what to expect...
I am sure Nacho Beristain has taught Junior a new trick or two. Of course he will never be a master boxer, but neither is Canelo in my opinion. Canelo also has a tendency to lay around and only fight in spurts. Both guys have suspect stamina, but I think the best strategy for Junior may be to keep Canelo busy as much as possible and try to wear him out. If he isn´t drawn out too much by the weigth loss, he may pull it of by points. i still favor Canelo though.
What would GBP do? Realize they overdid their waiting games with GGG and lost a ton of money, but they still wouldn´t admit it. Trying to save face by having an immediate rematch.
Remember David Reid with that droopy eyelid? His eyesight problems may have ruined his promising career which he had to finish quite early. I hope Brook won´t have permanent problems with his eyes/facial bones. It seems to be his weak spot and all future opponents will try to exploit it.
When still undefeated, he WAS one of the most overrated fighters ever in boxing, but he ruined his legacy in the second half of his career. In rertrospect, he probably is even underrated a bit.
Why do people hate Floyd so much?
Because he badly damaged the sport and doesn´t even care about it. It was all about money and self-adulation from the get-go.
He definitely hated the Nazis but at the same time he also felt flattered by all the adolation he got. Personally, he also was from a rather modest background and primarily was focused on the progress of his career. I guess it is somewhat understandable in retrospect.....
With the GGG-Jacobs fight going the distance, Golden Boy came to the conclusion that Canelo will also be capable to last the full 12 rounds. It will be Canelo by decision or (much more likely) GGG by ko.
Maybe I am getting old, but who cares about the MMA and their fighters? It´s just a freakshow obviously. It may kill Mayweather´s reputation forever, for all that´s worth.
A strange decision by the WBC, given that Wlad has lost his two recent fights. His last win was a long time ago. Boxing politics again, it´s hard to take the governing bodies serious...
I sincerely hope it is not going to happen, because it will further hurt the image of Boxing which is already considered a corrupt sport.
Well, boxing also survived the dreadful Muhammad Ali vs Antonio Inoki affair back in the Seventies, but that was in the Golden age when Boxing was a mainstream sport and had a lot of credit with the mainstream sports fan...
