Its very early in his career, but he already has wins over 2 good fighters in 2 weight classes.
And the talent is there. I will say yes, barring something unexpected, he'll gather more good wins at 130, 135, possibly 140, and get to the HOF
Yeah i think way too early..he needs more big wins under his belt for sure.
Molina can withstand some punishment but lately he's been gassed out..I think Crawford does some great bodywork mid rounds to slow him down and eventually put him out.
I cant stand when "fans" bring in PPV numbers or Financial worth into debates on who the better boxer is...
it's like...trying to talk to a 15 year old about boxing..and maybe they are considering its all online and i have no clue who the **** im talking to.
At 1st I was on Canelo's side....when he won the belt from Cotto...Cotto made the decison to come down to 155 or whatever the catch-weight was...Cottos fault for losing the belt...
Since that victory, Canelo has said I'm not a MW..I'm a 154 pounder. And thats why he stood firm on GGG coming down to fight him.
But now that Canelo is going up to fight Chavez...what happened to the you're a 154 pounder?? You can fight 1 guy at the weight but not GGG?
Oh He scared. Or knows that L is more possible fighting GGG and wants a big ass piece of cake if he loses.
And that's the sucky part. I'm a big Cotto fan. He always brings it and I don't really mind a tune-up fight, given the layoff, but I do mind it being on PPV just because Cotto is fighting. Politics end up giving fans a raw end of the deal because we are so loyal to the sport... I'm hoping 2017 gives us more of what we want...
Have a great time! the fight is going to be awesome!! I have never been to a live boxing event. One day...:boxing:
Its Mayweathers fault lol He set new standards as far as Fight Purses go...he basically set a new curve for everyone. From the fighters standpoint its a great thing! Now A level guys can ask for more...and B level moves up some also...
And now to compensate for the new fighter paychecks..we're getting 1 sided matchups or PPV Fights that shouldnt be on PPV...
And we're also seeing higher priced PPV Telecasts for these fights..
When Mayweather fought Pacquiao for $100..i just knew all the other A Level fighters were going to start charging 60/70 per PPV..and sure enough they did....
So from the fighters view..great time in boxing if you're a top fighter..
But from the fans view...we have to come out of pocket even more and now forced to pay for fights that used to be on HBO/SHO.
I voted for JCCJR by decision...but honestly..pains me to say it...he needs to just disappear. He lack of respect for the sweet science and his trainers has left a bad taste in my mouth. I love my Mexican fighters but this kid just needs to go. I'm tired of waiting for him to take it serious and turn it all around...just leave..come back and host TV AZTECA or something with your dad.
This will be the first fight i attend live i'm trying to purchase tickets on the axs website but I'm not getting through. Is anybody else having this issue? Or do you guys have suggestions for where to get them from
I got mine on Saturday during the presale...i know yesterday a lot were sold out quickly..did you end up getting thru?
Right, cause he wanted to make much less money, get much less exposure and run his career into the ground, and Arum was not into that
not being forced into signing an extension. That was the right move for him. (Chavez Jr)
CANELO LOOKS SHOOK, like f this is a cherry pick gone wrong. Chavez towers over him. Mark my words, Chavez TKOs Canelo within 8.
My brain says Canelo by UD...but man looking at the pics..the weight/power alone has me 2nd guessing myself.
I am. I can't wait. This could be a really big upset.
Im pumped just because i know its going to be an action fight...2 mexican fighters in there is usually always action..then with these 2 guys in there and them both knowing the expectations fans have??!!!
If Chavez jr wasn't such a disappointment I would be hyped.
True...a part of me wants Canelo to put him out of his misery already with his no focusing, training ass...but a tiny part of me wants Jr to win just because hes Chavez's son.. :(
why is canelo listed at 5'9" he is barely 5'8"
Im Barely 5'10 and Canelo was like 3-4 inches shorter than me easy!
Were did GGG ever say he would fight Chavez jr. at 160. When that fight was supposed to happen 2 years ago 168 was the weight limit but uncle Bob wanted a contract from Jr. So fight was cancelled because jr refused to sign the contract.:pat::lame:
at the time it was the right move to make from Chavez...
First big PPV of the year, Cinco de Mayo weekend, two Mexicans, I'd say it clears 800k easily.
agree
It'll do around 500-600K at best.
let me have what you're smoking.
This is will be 800-1.1M
I disagree with the idea that Kirkland is the best name out there... Before people start yelling GGG, you must acknowledge that Cotto is much smaller than GGG (even if he held the lineal MW title for a couple of fights). GGG isn't a reasonable option. He could have fought Brook, Bradley, Lara, either Charlo, and they would have had the same level of name at least and been better opposition. Cotto picked this fight to showcase that he still has it to make a better fight. It may backfire though. Ann Wolfe is the biggest x factor in this fight.
Well RocNation owes Cotto like 10-15 million for his last contracted fight. They figure to make more money with a Kirkland priced type of fighter to be able to have enough to keep some for themselves and pay Cotto his guaranteed amount.
As far as the match goes...its a good fight to see..2 strong punchers and Cotto likes to brawl from time to time. We should see Cotto win with a KO late. PPV worthy no...but a fight you cant miss if you love action...
As a boxing fan, this is what we want to see. Action and Power.
Cotto hasnt fought in 15 months..he deserves a "tuneup" before he tries to go after a Canelo rematch or another big fight. His resume has earned him this opportunity...and crazy that Kirkland is being labeled a tuneup fight as we all know what he brings to the table.
Ill be ringside to see this battle tho! :boxing:
