do you know how out of shape vargas was coming in to this fight. he had to drop a ton of weight quickly. if vargas comes out too aggressive he will be gased in six, and if he comes out slow mosley will slowly pick away at him.
Yeah, but Vargas really has no choice because, as Danny Smith admitted in the audio interview, Mosley is a much more talented fighter. He weighed-in under the limit and looked strong to me.
i think paulie, in rebuttal to mike's trainer, said that he must be sneaking something funny into those gyros thinking he can dance w/ paulie.
hahahaha... paulie is a character... he can box... I think it would be an interesting match..
i'd LOVE to see these guys fight each other ... i wanna see paulie in there w/ a live body already. considering that mike's mandatory to cottos belt, i don't think it'd happen until after mike gets his ass handed to him by cotto.
IF the fight goes off, i like paulies chances ... guys quick as hell and his punches, though feathery do the job to win the rounds.
Not sure if Cotto will win as easily as you may think, but I think that a Arnaoutis-Malignaggi fight would be entertaining..
maybe so, none of these guys are pushovers - 140 is still one of the most talent-laden divisions ... although now that i think about it, it'd be an easier fight for cotto against paulie since there'd be no way he could keep cotto offa him.
mike showed his mettle when he went into the trenches w/ urango, good scrap.
that was a good scrap and, what a lot of people forget is that Arnaoutis come straight from 6 round fights to a 12 rounder. It was a solid fight and both showed a lot.
I see a new gen of kiddies is taking over BS. You ever see Gomez fight? He's exciting, and I'm happy he gets a high profile fight, but he's the most overmatched fighter in a title fight I've seen in a while. Margarito specializes in beatdowns, and Gomez does take a beating, but not for long.
I don't bother with fluffy funny website money, but you have a lot to learn about betting if you ain't gonna take odds.
Who was the "most overmatched fighter" that you had seen before Gomez; Baldomir against Judah??? Vegas did not even post odds on that fight because Baldomir was said to be over matched that it was nothing more than a sparring session for the Brooklyn fighter... we know what happen there... That's what makes boxing so great... the under dog does have a chance and Gomez is a very live under dog..
if it werent for castillo this would be the least bought ppv fight
Damn man... I don't know what Margarito or Gomez did to you but you have a real hard-on for this fight as-far-as putting it down... Unfortunatly, neither of these guys are seen as worthy enough to be on HBO or Showtime as both of them turned down an offer to buy it for their viewers... Since the fight was already signed and was to have taken place on the under card of Rahman-Klitschko, Top-Rank had to put it on it's own... Since Top Rank does not own it's own television network, then the only option is to have a self bought ppv card...
** I think the difference is Zabby had a suspect chin and focus and Margarito is titanium. Fightnews did an interview with Zab where they asked him if he was sleeping on Baldomir's power. Zabby was completely dismissive of Baldy, yet Zabby is the guy who was knocked down 3X by one punch and also dropped by Spinks.
Also, not many had ever seen Baldy fight. Margarito and Shotgun are known commodities. Shotgun is real popular and deserves a shot, but he does take punishment and Margarito hands out beatings. But you are correct, in sports, strange things happen sometimes.
Gomez is a known commodity to you because you are in Texas and have access to Telefutura.. Either that or a you a hardcore fan (probably both)... outside of that, Gomez is not really known... people may remember his fight with Mosley, but that was years ago... he is mostly unknown by both fans and boxing media... I think it's going to be a much better fight than most think and I think Gomez has a real solid chance...
the first fight was very close but the second left no doubt. floyd is simply better than jlc and floyd is getting better with age.
I don't disagree that Floyd is naturally a more talented fighter than JLC... Hell, he's the most naturally talented fighter on the planet... Still, that old adage of styles make fights and in the first fight, Mayweather fought a style that did not to well against Castillo and, in my opinion, lost the fight... To his credit, in the second fight, he decided to pitter-patter his way to victory and his speed worked.
Castillo did enough to win the first fight IMO and should have skimmed a Draw or MD, but the second fight showed who is more talented. Mayweather clearly won the second.
Castillo is one of my favorite boxers but to say something like he can beat everyone between 135-147 is ridiculous. He has never even fought at 140.
Castillo is an extremely large lightweight that really outgrew 135 about 24 months ago.. He has the power, and chin to compete against anyone between 135-147 and, considering the possible opponents in each weight, and their styles, I believe JLC could beat them all... Cotto, Hatton, Baldomir, and Margarito are not movers... Zab lacks a chin... I like Castillo's chances in those divisions because I think he matches-up very well against the top-dogs of each division.
He decisioned him twice already, but never beat him. Mayweather lost that first fight, although he received a gift, and then made history in the second as the only fighter to ever duck another fighter in the ring. lol
Don't sugar coat it man... tell use how you really feel...lol.. I really do understand your frustration and you are definately within your rights to decline to ever seen Castillo again... It was a tough fight to watch but, then again, Reyes never committed to fight... tough break for Jose Luis... Still, I think he runs the table between 135-147...
I like Antonio Escalante a lot... the kid has solid skills and can fight... don't know if he will ever be a champion, but I think he is definately on too watch..
Idiot? hhhhhhmmmmm... seems to me like you cannot serious debate any of your points so you immediately turn to insults to hide your lack of any real boxing knowledge.... I will get lost regarding ever acutally talking with you about boxing because you are clueless... toodle pip my small minded friend...
Dumbass? hhhhhmmmmmm... you are the dumbass for believeing that crock... No need to get insultive my friend... in case you did not realize, Forums are for everyone to express their opinions... Look at that fight again, without bias eyes, and tell me that you honestly believe Floyd won... One handed or not...
