I have watched this guy for a hot minute now and besides the volume of punches he throws I see nothing else about him and his boxing ability that would cause me to say he is that good. I truly think "El Maravilla" exposed him for what he is an unskilled pressure fighter who is very hittable with a suspect chin. At 160 vs a 154lber he got hurt something terrible and would have been finished if not for the bell in the first round. He throws punches that even for his wing span are way out of range. I have watched his fights and I have seen his most recent against Mtagwa. I am not convienced. I believe he is a very good fighter with exception talents but I think his bad habits will be exposed when he fights a technically sound fighter with a decent jab. His lack of reach and descipline will be his downfall and he will end up getting KO'd when he steps up in competition. At this point he looked great against a figher that was there to make him look great. the only reason Mtagwa was credible is due to the fight with Juanma. Juanma was drained and had nothing left to give after the 7th round. You have to understand styles make fights and Mtagwa had the perfect style for Gamboa to shine. Arum is no dummy and he put him on a good under card and gave him the perfect dance partner to make him look great.

I have read past and present threads floating around here about De lay Hoya. It seems people forget where this guy came from and how he made it to the top. In life people only see the end results and the fact that he is on top now in life and has bookoo cash tends to make people forget that he grew up poor and came from a very tough neighborhood. He made smart business decisions and fought top tier fighters his whole career. He always gave us a good show and kept boxing alvie after Tyson and Holyfield faded too black. Right now his GBP promotional company is responsibile for bringing us back to our roots and putting on fights cards more often. Like anything else once you start expanding you dilute the quality of the product. Oscar understands this fully. He loves the sport of boxing more than most fighters today and her gave back plenty in life and in sport. To sh*t on him the way most do on this board is immature and just plain haterz. You have to understand even though it is a business these are still people with real lives. Even though Oscar may have lost he lost trying to prove he was the best.
