berto has the best chance of lasting 12 rounds, because of his running and hugging, hence he will have a better chance of beating pac than margarito. yes I agree.
That's a false assumption.
Every fighter that runs from pac can last 12 rounds. Barrera went 12 rounds cause he didn't want to fight, he wanted to make it to the final bell. Same can be said of cotto. once cotto got fukked up / gased, he decided to run for the rest of the fight. he coulda went another round, but the ref stopped it. You can run from pac, but you will still lose.
That said... what JMM did was different. JMM punched w/ pac, he didn't just box pac. Just watch the fights. when jmm is punching, pac is backing up. when jmm is punching with pac, pac is getting hit and resets.
but morales came forward against pac and beat him in their first fight.
I'm not talking about fighters trying to last the full distance. I'm talking about fighters who's game plan is to only out-box him. Barrera and Cotto tried to put some serious hurt on him. They didn't actually try and out-box him the intentions of winning a decision. They're the kind of fighters who look for knockouts. Berto isn't like that.
I know Marquez didn't just box with Pacquiao. That's why I said he wasn't truly a pure boxer. Marquez is known to get into wild exchanges with fighters and throw big punches. That's the not best thing to do against Pacquiao because you're putting yourself at a serious risk.
The first Morales fight was a long time ago. Pacquiao's a different fighter now, but I still believe a pure boxer is his weakness.
Not if the pure boxer doesn't have a decent workrate or durability to match. If Berto had a workrate/endurance to work for 3 minutes of every round I would say Berto is definitely the more competitive fight. However he doesn't.
I think Berto has good enough stamina. He might not constantly throw punches but he still gets off a good amount and then ties you up to avoid any danger. That could be good against someone like Pacquiao.
I actually don't care about this fight. I'm gonna watch it, though, because I get to see it for free and I have nothing better to do. But no way I'd pay for it.
I really don't get the hype for it, as I don't even think Margarito has a chance.

Mosley's over the hill and he'll be regarded as one of Mayweather's leftovers.
Berto would be a better challenge for him, but I guess Pacquiao's only interested in the one who makes him the most money.

Lol... No Martinez? No Williams? Really?
They're basically middleweights, though. No point in fighting them unless he wants to challenge for a title in that division. And that's not gonna happen.
that's not the same as "dangerous". will berto frustrate pac with his speed and power... yes. is berto more dangerous than margarito? hell no. berto will run and hug and try to last 12 rounds. margarito will be dangerous as long he's able to stand and throw punches.
nah... clottey is a punching bag... margarito actually throws punches back.
It depends on what you mean by dangerous. If you mean who presents the best chance at beating him, I think it's Berto. Marquez wasn't truly a pure boxer, but he was the closest thing to it among all of Pacquiao's opponents. And we all know how close those fights were.
All opponents who constantly come forward at Pacquiao become punching bags, though. Just look at what happened to Hatton. Hatton puts a lot of pressure and he's faster with his punches than Margarito is, yet Pacquiao made easy work of him.

Couldn't believe how much the HBO commentators were praising Pacquiao. Lampley said something about how this performance proved he was the greatest offensive fighter he's ever seen. I mean, wow. It's not really that much of an accomplishment to hit a stationary target.
Why wasn't Lampley praising Mosley like this when he did a better job against an even better version of Margarito?
Yeah, let's believe the word of Margacheato himself. It's not like he would make up any excuses for the benefit of himself. :pat:
Fact is, he was coming off the best win of his career and was with his long time trainer who he had won three titles with. What did Roberto Garcia do with him? Beat an unknown journeyman?
At end of the day, Mosley beat a better version of Margarito in even better fashion. And Pacquiao will always be remembered for not only giving a multi-million dollar payday to an exposed, shot cheater, but for beating him less impressively than a shot fighter like Mosley did.
Nope. You can't have it both ways. Either Pacquiao is an 8 division champion or he's not. And officially he is.
So if he doesn't defend his title against Martinez, it's a duck. :fing02:
