There is a caste system in Mexico based on appearance. You will find this anywhere Europeans colonized and produced children with indigenous people.
OK let's bring it back to boxing shall we.
Most fans of any sport but especially boxing don't like rich kids like Ginger.
Its a more interesting and satisfying story when a tough kid lifts himself out of poverty to become a champion.
This is even more true in poorer countries like Mexico.
If I was Mexican, i'd despise kids like Canelo or Chavez Jnr to be honest.
I personally don't like him because he doesn't respect the sport.
50 total posts and you know about maxi pads????
alright who's alt is this and the TS too....................
I keep seeing this on some threads but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a inside joke or if you're thinking I'm someone else.
I can't really disagree with anything you wrote except your assessment of Brook/Jacobs as "Big Drama Show." I think he was a little surprised by Brook's aggressiveness in the beginning but he knew he wasn't in any danger so he didn't panic. He was eventually able to get the stoppage. On the other hand, he was very cautious of Jacobs because he also knew he had a big punch. Jacobs landed an overhand right in the first round that changed the entire fight. Once he felt Jacobs' power he tried to fight him like he did Lemieux. The problem with that was Jacobs was a much better fighter than Lemieux and didn't make as many mistakes and Golovkin put himself in a few bad positions where Jacobs caught him. Especially in the late rounds. It was easy to outbox Lemieux but he was slow and predictable. Jacobs was quick and used angles to land punches Golovkin didn't see coming. Like you, I think he can do the same thing against Canelo he did in the first fight.
In order for me to give you a proper response I will have to re watch both matches. No doubt Jacobs is a far better boxer than Lemeuix what I was trying to implement was how disciplined Gennady can be in a match when he needs to be.
I agree, the pressure Gennady applies once he knows he's hurt you is unmatched. I just want to give both fighters a fair shake to avoid all the criticism from Canelo fans.
More paragraphs bro. Holy f#ck at that wall of text.
But yea I agree with this largely so if you said this, just in wayyyyyyyyyyyy more words, I'm right there with you.
Probably another 12 round decision. And probably both guys don't alter their previous strategy THAT much. Some changes could happen, hell some changes will happen, but I'm not entirely sold they'll be large enough to drastically change the previous outcome where a KO was never close to happening for either guy. GGG starting quicker & attacking the body more would help him. Canelo fighting 3 minutes of a round would help him.
Yeah lol sorry about that, tried to adjust it a bit I'm not really the writing type but boxing is my passion so I gave it a go.
Very well thought out and I agree with pretty everything you said but it would be much easier to read if you broke it up into more paragraphs
Thank you for the feed back, broke it down a bit more.
I expect another dud, with Canelo winning a bit more clearly this time.
I completely disagree with you. Yes Canelo has a chance of winning if he stays consistent boxing Gennady in the middle of the ring. However he will need to have the stamina to go 7 rounds at least were it's not just a short burst but the entire round in order to clearly win the match. Stamina is not something you obtain in 9 months, yes you can get good conditioning in 9 months but not stamina. The only way I see Canelo Winning is if he paces himself round by round in order to not gas himself out but you have to remember that it will be GGG that he is in the ring with so how can you pace yourself against someone that puts you under extreme pressure? If Canelo can figure that out then he has a good chance at winning.
As much as I agree that boxing needs a new system to ensure bad decisions are out and that consistency is upheld, I don't really see any other sport that I quite enjoy as much when I am in particular, emotionally invested in a fighter since I am a fan.
Boxing is such a good sport from the bottom level up. You can make really good friends with some nice to some really crazy ass mofo's. You can be part of a pretty niche sport and just enjoy it for the ups rather than dwell on the downs.
We lived to fight another day. No matter the wounds and scars, our fight is to continue.
I see your point of view because I've been there I've been in the ring and I have sacrificed my body for this sport as well as emotionally investing myself in a fighter so I know the roller-coaster all too well.
This sport saves young men's life's or at least it used to all the non cool unpopular kids that were picked on in school would be at the gym were everyone is treated equally the place were you felt like you mattered. Ironically you now have to be popular to win.
So much has changed I don't see it the same anymore I loved the sport for what it did for me but I know it's lost that fundamental impact. I used to hurry to the gym everyday after class so I could use some of the loner equipment before they were all taken up. I go to the same gym now and everyone has the latest equipment top of the line equipment like it'll make em better cause it cost more.
I guess it's just a big issue to me, but I know a few will understand where I'm coming from.
He said AMATEUR boxing, not pro boxing.
And I argue he's still full of it, because for example, Floyd was robbed in the amateurs/Olympics against Todorov and everyone knew it, including Atlas.
Tons of amateur fighters have experienced less-than-ideal outcomes and Atlas was there the whole time.
Reality is this. It's on a fighter not to leave it to judges if they're not 100% sure they'll get the nod. Questionable decisions by judges AND refs AND commissions have spanned decades in boxing, it's not new, it's not any more frequent. But the internet puts it in your face more, giving the illusion that it's happening more frequently.
I'm sure it's happened before. The past few years I've only been keeping up with big names and with all this going on for the big middle weight fight later this year I thought maybe watching 2 young hot heads going at it would give me that excitement again. I'm not sure if I'm just not as naive as I once was or if they put no effort into hiding the robbery anymore.
By far what did it was noticing how the boxers dad (I think) was doing his best telling the young boxer he was great in there how those judges don't know crap ect. That kids dreams were crushed you could see it. That sucked.
Or maybe I'm just old and developed a soft spot take your pick.
Yet we sit here debating about corruption in boxing and how long it's really been around instead of talking about the sport itself.
Thanks Teddy, now go and fight fires somewhere else you cranky bastard.
He did look like he was gonna have a heart attack that last time. Kinda felt guilty when I laughed.
Yeah bro . It's tough when your 11 year old son loses his first fight. But get over it man. Catch that rematch at the next show .
I'm not sure what you're implying, I haven't lived out that dream yet I was blessed with a daughter.
Teddy I find you are sometimes way over the top but you have the guts to speak your mind. Your right boxing is corrupt. Instead of quitting why don't you approach some politicians and see if anything can be done to clean up the sport. Trump is a boxing fan maybe he will at least listen. The Nevada State Athletic Commission needs to be cleaned up, better testing for PEDs, enforcement of PED violations. Fighters that test positive should be suspended until they are cleared at the very least. Promotors that refuse to negotiate with other promotors because of personal animosity, or they want the opponent to sign with them if they win. Judges need to be scrutinized and held to a standard. Its a mess. Again hold your temper in check dont give up and do something positive about this freaking mess called boxing.
I hope you don't believe I'm Teddy, just a 30yr old Hispanic dude that loves this sport even when it's unhealthy to do so. I just wanted a good tittle so I used that quote.
There is way too much Fanboy BS going on in this thread mostly from the Canelo side. Read what the man said! (Abel)
"what would happen if Canelo makes good on his word and aggressively pursues the knockout victory?
If that happens, then we are going to have a heck of a fight because they are going to be standing in front of each other and being technical, being smart in doing the things necessary to hurt the other guy. Somebody is going out if they are standing at distance," Sanchez said.
"If he stands the distance I expect him to get knocked out. I expect him to take some shots, I expect him to be the fighter that he is - which is a great fighter - but I expect him not to last the 12 rounds if he stands and fights the fight he is promising us."
He does not discredit Canelo's skills he actually compliments him on being a great fighter. To all Canelo fans let's be honest for a moment, have any of you seen Canelo fight/box and use his feet as much as he did against GGG? Most Fanboys will swear that he's always fought that way but the answer is no.
What Abel Sanchez is bashing Canelo about is for Saying something and not doing it. Canelo was talking like he was gonna run thru Golovkin like he did Kirkland and we all know that did not happen and we also know why. It's great for everyone to stand by the boxer they are rooting for but let's not be stupid about it. Canelo is a great boxer but the only way for him to win against Golovkin is by boxing defensively similar to the way Mayweather did and that's the reason lots of boxing fans disliked Mayweather.
There is no problem with backing Canelo up and rooting for him but don't be a idiot about it. He can NOT go toe to toe with Golovkin for 12 Rounds he needs a good strategy and needs to be elusive. If you claim otherwise do us all a favor and lay off Canelo's nuts for a bit.
