did anyone notice manny use the famous clottey double punch at least 10 times during that sparring session?
Benavidez made manny look slow. 17yr olds can do that to you.
That study is a classic in the annals of research on the "nocebo" phenomenon, the evil twin of the placebo effect. While the placebo effect refers to health benefits produced by a treatment that should have no effect, patients experiencing the nocebo effect experience the opposite. They presume the worst, health-wise, and that's just what they get.

How this applies to pac: Pac believes that drawing blood while cutting weight will effect his performance negatively. why would you want pac to go into the biggest fight of the century less than 100%?
look, I don't take one side or another in the argument because I still have faith the fight will get done. At the end of the day thats all I want and what I think most fans want.
But please, stop defending his fear of getting blood drawn- it's obvious pac doesnt want to be told what to do, and that's his right to refuse.
But you cant use a psychological defense for anything in boxing because we as fans will tear you up- 75% of boxing is mental and arguably the best p4p boxer has a phobia thats gonna keep him from earning what he's worked so hard to achieve?
People have fears my man, they face them or they dont right?
Pacquiao to me doesnt seem like a man who doesnt face his fears but he does seem like a man who doesnt like being told what to do.
I hope there isnt a Muhammad Ali, SRR, PAC or Floyd that develops Paruresis because we would all lose out on a great fighter because he couldnt pee in public.
Paruresis is a type of phobia in which the sufferer is unable to urinate in the (real or imaginary) presence of others, such as in a public restroom.
I cant find the article. link please?
I do agree, Pacquiao's People have done more to plant suspicion about drug use than anything or anyone who is in that lawsuit.
Yeah man, Pacquiao is obviously a very generous guy, not the greedy bastard some are making him out to be.
Hatton needs Pac more than Pac needs Hatton. It ain't about the money, it's about respect. Simple.
Respect? I'm sorry, but anyone who's been paying attention to the negotiations has to have lost respect for Pac right now.
Breaking your word doesn't earn anybody respect.
Would never happen. It doesn't make sense for Pacquiao's side.
I wouldn't be surprised at all either if Collazo beat Berto.
It depends who actually shows up that night.
Is it the Collazo who complains to the ref and almost looks disinterested
or the smart, skilled, in and out fighter?
The main reason why Cotto lost IS because he forgot all about the body.
It seemed that Cotto was amazed that Margarito was taking all of his punches straight in the mouth. He completely forgot about the body.
The only way Mosley can win the fight is to break Margarito down like a tree.
Still, Margarito wins by KO.
Margarito's record after the 10th round before the cotto fight was
2-1 0 KO's
Cotto was 6-0 3 KO's
You don't suddenly get power.
I just watched the fight over again this morning and it makes sense that his hands were plastered for the cotto fight. Throughout the fight Margarito's punches were slower but were still somehow slashing and cutting. The first round it looks as if Margarito was looking for one shot, and once he started heaving those bricks he began to do damage.
For example, Mosley is alleged to have used steroids for the second DLH fight right? Watching the fight over, you can clearly see Shane was looking for the one punch KO because psychologically, you know you have the advantage.
Antonio DeMarco is the truth. Its his time now. He will not be denied by some scraggly ass Commie caveman looking mother****er.
After DeMarco beats Valero, I will refer to him as "my main man" when talking about him in threads.
so you're choosing him over Valero because he's a scraggly looking commie?
Demarco is not the truth. if he keeps getting better with every fight (improve his defense, stop getting caught in between styles-brawling or boxing) then maybe we can call him the truth. But until then his long punches leave him too wide open for Valero to miss. Demarco has never been down so we also have no idea how he will react to the power.
Not hating on Demaro, he's just green to me. Basically, no Amateur experience, he's a converted southpaw so he's learning to be a boxer without the natural balance while trying to remember not to brawl. DLH made it popular but he had plenty of amateur experience to at least get it down pat.
You left out caveman. But no, I'm picking DeMarco because he's technically way better than Valero and also has toughness and power himself.
DeMarco is not in his prime but he's getting there with every fight. I think Valero is just as green if not more. Most of his fights were in Japan against nobodies and most only lasted 1 round.
DeMarco is just the better fighter imo.
I agreed with the caveman comment so I left it out, that's just the truth. haha
I think DeMarco is the more physically gifted fighter but not the better fighter. He's got long arms, height, strong chin, and stamina-which are all better than Valero.
But its Demarco who's green, not the other way around.
DeMarco may have more pro rounds but its Valero who has over 80 victories in the amateurs with 50+ coming by KO. Valero has been in enemy territory often(Japan, won the title in Panama against the champion, US and mexico) while Demarco has been nurtured for a prime TV audience in the states. I said it earlier in the thread, DeMarco is a young 23 and Valero is entering his prime at 28.
If DeMarco faced him in a year or two perfecting his technical craft and taking advantage of his physical gifts then I could see him schooling just about anybody. But he's taking his first real test and he still has major holes in his boxing. One thing is for sure, I think its going to be a war between the two of them.
He needs to stop wishing all his fans a big hug and try to learn how to hug Valero after he gets hurt.
KO if he goes in thinking he can go toe to toe with him.
Greenburg pops up.
if he's able to make a comment about Martinez- Williams fight, I would hope he opens his mouth about the craziness that is Arum and Ellerbe.
Sorry for all those who drank the kool-Aid of DeMarco being a boxer. The man is a fighter disguised as a boxer. Once he feels the pressure to return fire with Valero it should be a KO win for Valero.
86-6 with 57 knockouts that's Valero's Amateur career. The Power aint no joke.:boxing:
Last I heard DeMarco had 13 amateur fights.
I'm not sure of the record, but to say that the 50 plus rounds he has over Valero in the pro's is something of an advantage is nonsense. If anything, it seems to me that DeMarco is a young 23 and needs more seasoning and Valero is 28 and either entering or is in the peak of his prime. He's also used to fighting in enemy territory, Won the title from the champ in Panama(130lbs), defended in Japan and Mexico.
I wouldnt be surprised if Demarco catches Valero with a knockdown because he's quite easy to catch, but Demarco is no defensive genius and its inevitable he'll be caught.(Demarco has never been down from what I know) I think the age and amateur experience will make the difference in the fight, they both have terrible habits so if a firefight errupts you gotta go with the power.
