But, instead of even floating the idea to Nate Campbell, they made the David Diaz fight BEFORE Pac fought JMM the second time, with Diaz only having to beat Montano (which he had a little difficulty doing, actually).
For the last time, this isn't about "what you don't have a problem with". This isn't about "what Floyd Mayweather did".
This is about Manny Pacquiao and the fact that when faced with the equal opportunity to face David Diaz or Nate Campbell (or even Casamayor as you yourself pointed out), he chose the easiest opponent available.

Mercer in his prime around mid 90s would imo beat Wilder. Too much skill, speed, good chin, and work rate. He would walk him down and stop him, he has similar qualities to Luis Ortiz, but has a better chin, and better feet, in fact I'd say he does most things better than Ortiz, only difference is he is shorter, less power (arguable), and orthodox.
A guy like Mercer who consistently boxes and trains to walk down taller heavyweights, but does it with a high skill level and speed, I'd like his chances in that fight.

I'm a Wilder fan. Nothing against Wilder. I was amazed by the tough as nails Mercer who had a great jab. He's all wrong for tall lanky fighters. In addition,the Morrison destruction is one of the sickest HW KO's of all time.
The Morrison KO was vicious but Tommy was never an elite and impressive heavy to begin with. This is merely a case of what I call "nostalgia bursts." Ray was a solid heavy but he wasn't someone who could beat Wilder. People not understanding that only fury has done that to Wilder and it took TWO fights. Fury isn't just another heavyweight on the scene. Nobody his size + skill has been witnessed in the sport before. He's a giant amongst giants. Brezeale was a basic heavy with solid fundamentals. A lot of these guys are...but nostalgia bursts keep people from giving them credit. Same way nostalgia bursts have people praising Mike for beating bums in the 80s. Yet those same people turn around and call the much bigger, more fundamentally sound heavies off today bums to discredit our current champs. Fury the night of the rematch (aka Fury 2.0) would've beaten a lot of great Heavies that night. Yes, Wilder has flaws but so do most fighters, including Ray.

Wilder is one of my favorites because of his attitude and his punch. Mercer was a complete fighter tougher stronger and more proven. I love the Fury story and the personality, as well as him having surprising boxing ability, but again mediocre competition. 90's fighters were just leagues better. That's not just nostagia, they're just far superior in every facet of the sport. There wasn't one trick ponies or good fighters looking great against bums. I lived during it then and I see what happening now. No comparison my friend
