Canelo loses gracefully. Against Mayweather, Bivol, & Bud- Canelo wore each one of those ass whippings like a man, and made no excuses. One person he's terrified of losing to though, is Benavidez. Because Canelo is a true student of boxing, and highly intelligent. And he knew that even if Mayweather, Bivol and Bud had a chance to beat him, that it probably wouldn't be by knockout, so he rolled the dice with them. But he knows if he loses to Benavidez, it could be a different type of loss than any he's ever experienced. Against Benavidez, a guy who would come in the shape of his life, and probably throw 100 hard, accurate punches per round, by the end of the fight, at a minimum, Canelo's face would be a swollen, bloody mess. It would be the type of face no one has ever seen on Canelo b4. At worst, he could get bludgeoned and/or knocked out and stopped. And for Canelo, he could never live with that type of beating, especially from another Mexican.
Ah, well, you know what? Benavidez is never going to get that fight. He's a big fella and a weight bully, he last fought at 168lb in almost 3 years ago, btw.
I think with the Bivol loss, Canelo came to the conclusion that size and weight classes do matter. In saying that, I do think Canelo avoided Benavidez and I feel he has every right, too.
