I don’t see how Bivol keeps him off him, especially at 35 and following the back surgery.
Beterbiev is 40+ now and I don’t see how he handles the pace/activity of Benavidez.
Opetaia is one dimensional IMO, decent power in the left hand but not much else. I think Benavidez smashes him to pieces.
I'm unsure how going back down to a division 25 pounds lighter 175 would help Fat Dave adjust to 200
Draining all the way back to a prior division could backfire and uck his body up
None the less I'm reasonable
Fat Dave is taking advantage of the grace period to make a fight
He has until end of 2027 to make a fight with Buff Guy Jai before it a duck imo
What I thought as well, but then again, the peds in today's modern time is advanced af... the Bivol fight will also generate a shit tonne of revenue imo
Timing and many political issues are currently in the way that's preventing a potential "mega-fight" from happening, but if I were to say, it would be "timing" more than anything.
Benavidez has explicitly stated he needs time to adjust to the 200lb division. He and his team wants him to gain more experience at this weight before facing someone as dangerous as Jai Opetaia. Rushing into a fight next with the "Boogeyman" of the Cruiserweight division would be a high risk they can't afford to make. He simply isn't ready for someone of Opetaia's caliber, not right now with the one-fight experience at 200lbs.
The fight is complicated by also with Jai's recent signing with Zuffa. Promotional hurdles between different promoters makes it difficult to negotiate a deal between all parties and networks involved (they don't want to work together, as well). So many fkn obstacles if you think about it.
If it makes sense, it's totally understandable for David Benavidez to go back down to 175lb and chase the Bivol fight next—because it makes sense with the timing.I'm unsure how going back down to a division 25 pounds lighter 175 would help Fat Dave adjust to 200

multitude of reasons from Team Fat Dave to delay a fight with Buff Guy Jai
truth is Buff Guy Jai is low reward, high risk for them
Fat Dave's reasoning I want belts Zuffa has nothing to offer. This is bollocks as The Ring Title held by Buff Guy Jai is widely regarded as the REAL division champ
Fat Dave's dad's excuse Buff Guy Jai has fought nobody. This too is bullsht because beating Mairis was a far better cruiser opponent than anyone Fat Dave has faced at the weight
in fact Mairis might just be the best opponent between them
Because Buff Guy Jai is low reward, high risk for Fat Dave his team has gamed it out for Jai to be the last option

Elastic Recoilz
Last time I checked, that mfer Jai had the whole Cruiserweight division on the run. No one wanted to fight him, he was labelled as "The Boogeyman" in the division for a reason. Now he has moved to ZUFFA, got stripped off his IBF belt, he has nothing that "interests boxers."
We are all entitled to our own opinions, and this match-up will be really close if they link up I think. I'll have to see how Benavidez adjusts into the CW division to have a prediction if the fight gets announced "officially" and Jai's recent form shall they keep and continue winning. If you're that confident, goddamn place a bet on it.multitude of reasons from Team Fat Dave to delay a fight with Buff Guy Jai

Lol people like you hype Jai up as if he is some sort of elite knockout artist. He is a good fighter and throws a powerful shot but he is is VERY hittable. Benavidez has the higher boxing IQ of the two fighters and would find numerous openings. Jai is the natural cruiserweight - muscular and strong at the weight, Benavidez has a soft build at 200lbs but the power still appears to have carried up as has the hand speed, which going to cause problems for anyone there

Fat Dave is having the most meteoric rise to stardom since Manny
he also echoes that meteoric rise. manny is one of Fat Dave's heroes he has admitted
manny went mainstream after his deadly fast flurries blitzed Oscar & Ricky who were beat before by ATG Mythical Mayweather
Fat Dave is in the spotlight after his deadly fast flurries blitzed Buff Guy Yarde & Fat Gilbert who were beat before by ATG Buff Guy Artur & Top Soviet Bivol
these performances made people believe manny had EVOLVED drastically
but it was at least equally due to matchmaking
Their deadly fast flurries eat flat footed come forward opps alive
manny was then exposed by Juan's footwork
manny had improved because he was confident after his great performances
but his fundamental flaw was unfixed and exploited
There was a major market inefficiency after Miguel and pre-trilogy
The herd believed manny had improved so much that he'd kill Juan
the general public was EUPHORIC about manny
You were a contrarian to have conviction in Juan still bringing it to Manny
tape don't lie
styles makes fights
its really is that sometimes
even ATG fighters have issues with some styles
noone is unbeatable
just some very hard to beat, thats as good as u can get
Benavidez hype is the same as Canelo hype before losing to Bivol.i dont usually agree with u but u could be right with this
hype bring interest brings more eyes to events brings more cash so its actually important to hype guys up, everyone wants the next best thing to emerge thats how the sport survives and growsFat Dave is having the most meteoric rise to stardom since Manny

I give Bivol the best chance of beating him, but Bivol has a tendency to back up to the ropes and rely on the high guard which is a bad idea against a combination puncher like Benavidez. I felt like if Beterbiev had a better engine/ more volume, he’d have clearly beaten Bivol, Benavidez certainly has that.
Opetaia is a dangerous fighter but I think he’s quite predictable and pretty easy to hit. I think Benavidez would beat he fight out of him, a bit like Fury did with Wilder. I’m not really sure what Jai can do on the inside.
Fully agree on staying at 175 atm, Bivol at 175 should be next. I have absolutely no interest in Bivol-Beterbiev 3 too. Neither fight 1 or 2 caught fire.high guard was out of respect for the power of Buff Guy Artur and Saul Santos
both hit far harder than Fat Dave
backed to the ropes was because Buff Guy Artur and Saul Santos cut rings off
going off the Caleb fights Cement Feet Santos is clearly better than Fat Dave at cutting rings off
Caleb had enough success with a looser guard the long guard. Top Soviet Bivol long guards but at a far higher level and he fences with it
Fat Dave's deadly fast flurries is designed to destroy high guards at close quarters
I do not believe Fat Dave with his flawed footwork can reach close quarters where his deadly fast flurries would come into play
well
that would be if bivols style wins out
if david can get to him it could turn his way and into his fight
Fat Dave can do a lot of things. Great footwork is not one of them. White Chocolate Caleb's stick & move, long guard fencing, feints, and clinches had Fat Dave struggling to cut him off. Top Soviet Bivol does those but at a far higher level than White Chocolate Caleb.
Cement Feet Saul cornered White Chocolate Caleb MULTIPLE times as early as round ONE.
Cement Feet Santos is better at cutting the ring off than Fat Dave!

Good post.
I think Bivol still has enough left to make it a really good fight.
Bieterbiev might be too old for sure.
Jai is a problem. That 1 hitta quitta he has is the ultimate equalizer. David could literally be up 11-0 and then it’s over that quick.
Id personally like to see David clean out LHW before the Jai fight.

I don't want to brush any of the good fighters people are naming aside, I'd be down for all those fights. Those names are better than I one I am about to mention but I'm just looking at just styles and dimensions for this exercise.
So if I had to pick one wildcard guy who I think would be tricky for DB around those weights, it would be Hamzah.
But really, I kind want to see a HW.
bivol 35? damn times goes too fast, remember being in second year of university and watching bivol starch sullivan barreraTop Soviet Bivol being 35 36 37 would sweeten the wins over Fat Dave and Buff Guy Jai:cool:
Honestly, I think we're blowing out of proportion beating Zurdo who was literally tailor made for him. The dude didn't move at all and stood in front of him to take those combinations. They were awesome to see, but honestly David was just way too good for Zurdo if you're going to just stand there and not provide any movement. I've never once enjoyed watching a Zurdo fight and found him very mediocre. I'm honestly surprised how often he got the W. Kind of gave me Barrios vibes.
Though I'm not sure we're going to see the same devastation vs any opponent who actually moves around. I'd still give Bivol a huge chance. Beterbiev is pretty old so he should be for the taking and Opetia's power may surprise David.fight reminded me of the destruct of Miguel by manny
the b-side fighter could have boxed on the back foot and done better but wanted to be big ick and walk down the smaller a-side
both were beat up bad using the wrong strategy
definitely not a war. That’d be the hittable Buff Guy Jai
Top Soviet Bivol has great defense
Fat Dave has very good defense especially at closer ranges
Fights between two elite defense dont become wars especially when one lacks the footwork to cut the other off hello Floyd-manny
the foot speed gap between Top Soviet Bivol & Fat Dave is far bigger than the foot speed gap between Floyd & manny
Buff Guy Artur clearly has better feet than Fat Dave and still didn’t turn it into a war
well
that would be if bivols style wins out
if david can get to him it could turn his way and into his fight
Peope are overimpressed with him beating the worst version of Zurdo ever.
Bivol will school this kid.
Bivol is for him what was Floyd for Canelo. Just a better fighter. Bivol got no credit for beating unbeaten Zurdo who was much bigger than himi dont think i agree with u
first off zurdo was doing well at cruiser hes not bad no world beater but he never was
second, i cant see anyone schooling anyone in bivol v david, that will be a war, just depends on whose style comes out on top, it could go either way, if i was betting i think id bet on david actually being the younger fresher guydefinitely not a war. That’d be the hittable Buff Guy Jai
