It's not that he's not appreciated (I appreciate him), it's just that this HW era is the weakest in history. If Wlad would have been this dominant in, let's say, the 90s, it would be a different story. I personally don't think he would have been, but who knows. Either way he's a helluva fighter and a very classy champion.
:lol1:
There has never been a stronger HW era in history..
Yesterdays champs would be utterly annihilated by todays bums and nothing like todays champs/contenders ever existed!
Even Klitschko's WORST opponents, like Mormeck ARE better than previous champs like Ali and Louis's signature wins!
Today's era is the most global, highest participation, heftiest, tallest, most athletic, most talented skillfully and by record in boxing history.
This view is totally busted. You've exposed yourself as a fool!
If you really believe what you just posted than I'm more than happy to be a fool my friend. I acknowledge Wlad is a great champion and fighter, and he would be a tough out for anyone due to his size, power, and style. But you're crazy if you think he would walk through fighters like Holyfield, Ali, Lewis, Foreman, etc.
He doesn't have the mental character those fighters had. He doesn't deal well when he's been hurt bad. And I'm honestly not knocking him, but he doesn't have the best chin out there. If he had been fighting in the 90s I firmly believe he would have many more losses.
And I can't even comment on you comparing this HW era to past eras and saying it's superior, or even on par. If you want to believe that, than go right ahead.
Man cut the hate and let Amir have his day..we let ortiz and guerrero have theirs so stop the hypocrisy. It won't be a dull fight that's for sure...Amir's over commitment to relying on his offense so much was his undoing...doesn't mean he's a shhh fighter. Just had a lot of talent but the wrong approach.
Preach brotha!
In this day and age if a fighter loses, or gets knocked out, then he's been exposed, or he was always a bum. The stupidest ****.
Not going to pretend to be this big Khan fan, but the dude is willing to fight anyone. He's been knocked out how many times and bounces back and still wants it. And I agree with you, Khan's approach has been his biggest enemy, not his lack of ability.
So Khan is a confirmed Golden Boy signed fighter?
Also, I wish he and his team would shut the hell up about a Floyd fight already. Everyday it's a new thread with them begging for it. If Floyd doesn't want to fight you, nothing in the world can convince him to. Ask Manny.
Well, you're not going to get a Floyd fight by casually bringing it up. Look at Floyd's last few opponents. They all did the same thing Khan is doing. It seems the fighter with the loudest bark has the best chance of winning the May sweepstakes.
Solid performance from Manny. Was glad to see him use a lot of lateral movement, that's when he's at his best. And Rios has a very impressive chin, tough as they come.
Still, we knew that if Manny wasn't effected psychologically by the Marquez KO he was going to win this fight.
Cognac? who the **** do you think i am? I'm smoking weed now so that ruins that argument.
Sorry I'm cranky as **** right now, I can't lie, that Groves stoppage earlier pissed me off and It's 5 to 7 in the morning where I am, I was trying to vent and picked the one decent poster to do it on it seems. My bad. Goodnight.
I respect posts like this.
And I was equally pissed about that stoppage.
I can expect civility...don't care who wins..i'm not rooting for either man but will respect and cheer for them at the end of twelve rounds..People that go to such extreme lengths to dish hate out on a guy they perceive as a threat is just a sign of weakness in my opinion. The funny thing is most of these dudes don't know it's a psychological symptom to behave that way..it's a telltale sign of fear and/or insecurity. Who beats who? Don't care...let the better man win and I can love them as boxers eternally for being men enough to face each other...nothing else should ever matter.
Good post, dude.
Love his attitude but he's got to understand that not everyone can fight like he does. Fighters are born with different temperaments and gifts.
Floyd was not blessed with concussive punching power so it wouldn't serve Floyd to fight like him.
Just like if GGG tried to fight Floyd's style it wouldn't serve him very well.
But oh how I miss the eras of the past. The 90's HW scene was one of my favorites. Everyone brought it and everyone was down to fight everyone for the most part.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good chess match, but I also love battles of attrition.
Really can't wait for this fight. Than Cotto-Canelo. Gon be good.
I don't care how he means it or how he explains it, Roach once again says something idiotic. Pascal is a good fighter (not even a great one) and he should never even be mentioned in the same sentence in any capacity as RJJ who was the fighter of the 90's decade and one of the most amazing fighters in history. A prime RJJ was one of the most amazing fighters and devastating forces to witness and he was levels above everyone.
Roach is just going to help Pascal get KTFO.
Yep. I had the pleasure and honor of working out in a private gym with Roy in Vegas back in 92/93. Saw him spar. Then he gave me tickets to his fight. Dude was one of the baddest mf ever. And personally the best fighter I've ever seen fight live. And I've seen a lot.
Easy win for TBE.
I respect your opinion. And Floyd IS great. But it won't be easy my man. Floyd will have to earn it. And when/if he does he deserves full credit for the victory.
Out of curiosity how do you guys see a fight between Gabriel Rosado and Canelo playing out?
I like Rosado, but he lost to Derek Ennis. Who just so happens to be a sparring partner for Canelo. I know triangle theories don't work, but you can YouTube them sparring and it might give you some indications of how a fight between Canelo and Rosado might play out.
Personally, I would prob have Canelo stopping Rosado late. But who knows.
Good point in saying that now he is going to have to prove that he learned more in 3 days with Atlas than 10 years with Diaz. But I think Bradley beats Rios even if his wife was his trainer. If Bradley does very well against Rios, it won't prove much yet. He'd have to do it vs a top WW.
Yeah, I don't really know how this fight will turn out at this point to be honest.
Sure, Bam Bam is one dimensional but I still think he's a lot better than people give him credit for. If he's in tip top shape physically and mentally, I think he could be a problem. Because I'm not so sure about Timmy any more and I don't know where the dude's head is at.
I guess nothing would surprise me in this fight.
Damn, Gonzalez is a badass. Too bad he's in the lower weights. Will likely limit what he can make money-wise and recognition with casuals. It's hard to be a major star in those lower weights. Prince Naz was one of the last I can remember of.
espn dont really care much about boxing, however there boxing related 30 for 30s have been really good so cant complain
Yep, true. Holyfield was my childhood idol so I can't complain either lol
Pacman, I love you. You and Floyd were the best, by far, of your era. But please, oh god please, choose Crawford. If you lose, no big deal, but if you win, you're a bonafide badass lol. Think about that!
Wow. What a fight. Wasn't expecting a FOTY type of match going into this. Props to both men. Warriors. I had Bradley winning, but oh was there some scary moments.
I hope JMM says no to this. No way should he be conceding a size advantage to Cotto. If Cotto wants to fight for big money, let him fight some legit JMW's like J-Rock.
Would love to see that fight. I actually see it as a 50/50 fight at this point and would lean towards J rock. But no way Cotto's fighting a dude that 99.9 percent of the general boxing fans have never heard of and a guy they couldn't generate big money with.
Poor J rock lol
Floyd can't beef with everybody. If he won't work with GBP or TR, who does that leave, GGG? Please, GGG would steamroll Floyd. The interesting thing will GBP be willing to take step aside fees for Floyd to use for a night.
Honestly, I think this is a dumb move by Floyd. Because if Oscar and Arum are smart and team up and play hardball with Floyd. Floyd really has no leverage.
Yeah, this whole sitch is just crazy. Seems like Floyd is acting off emotion. But maybe he knows something we don't.
And your wrong about the GGG fight. Floyd would stop him in one round.
