A trainer spends a lot of time with their fighter. Knowing the correct method to motivate them is a HUGE part of the job. Not everyone has the same mental capacity though. This is why you are seeing different methods of motivation. Choosing a trainer is a lot like choosing a spouse. When it is time for some action some like screamers, some like those who use a soft tone. Different strokes for different folks.

If a lot of the HW boxing "prospects" went to the NFL/NBA during the last 20 years, why did those sports get so soft doing the same time period? Athletically, NBA/NFL players today are astonishing, but people have to admit they don't show the grit of their predecessors. The same grit that boxers need. My take is, a lot of American kids who could become great HWs Let the tool speak for them, instead of their hands. Instead of shooting each other, they should shoot the fifth. I think geography plays a role too? Boxing gyms seem to be largely located in inner-cities while rural and suburban people grow up wrestling in high school. I'm not American so maybe I'm wrong, just an observation That is pretty spot on for someone not located in the states. Also, parents who have the funds in the suburban areas often put their kids in some form of martial arts at a very young age. Those two factors are a great influence to why the UFC was able to attract their fanbase.

Playing off of their biggest mental weakness (the fear of being poor) that has created such a hard fighter in the first place. I think a lot of "fight fans" should look more into stocks and fortune 500 lists if they want to worship riches. I watched a Sugar Ray Robinson fight on the youtube once with my friend and I had to get some refreshments, so I went to the kitchen. When i got back, to my amazement SRR was even bigger! Seriously! Like 10x bigger than before. It was incredible to see someone grow that fast. My friend said something about "fullscreen" idk what that is, but I need to get some of that ****. He had his time, and people will determine what his career meant to them individually. The best thing for his legacy now, would be to teach a youngster all he knows about the sport. So as the fight game goes forward, it can continue to have a piece of him in it. He scaled the mountain of his choosing, but can he now help someone else get to the same peak? There is a different form of greatness in doing so. The passing of knowledge allows things to overcome the destructive nature of time.

One of the few times I would agree with AB. The hyperbolic jokes in here are good for laughing(which I was), but they aren't a proper assessment on what he is actually trying to state. He didn't stay "in his lane" and paid the price. Couple that with his perspective, and he went from a very credible fighter, to a sideshow persona. Which allows exaggerated opinions to turn into the "truth". In total, he did it to himself. I genuinely feel bad for this guy at times. He reminds me of Wimp Lo from the movie Kung Pao. It would be great for the city of Baltimore to host a hometown fighter. Im sure there is a pool of untapped talent in that city. The influence from someone who came up from the same streets could help peak interest in the sport. Who knows? Maybe America could get a great HW from that region.

Regardless of any stance on this fight. We all have to admit the Joshua v. Ruiz story has become extremely compelling and Saturday couldn't come sooner. Best of luck to the fighters and let's hope that we are shown what boxing can be when 2 men who have so much to prove in the sport collide.

Don't know why the boxing is happening in that ****hole of a country anyway would.have been much better at Wembley. The sound of a dying empire.
