Thurman would be considered a bum overnight. Wins over porter,Garcia, Guerrero and the fact that he was a champion would mean nothing.
Why is nobody saying that pacquiao waited for Thurman to look bad in his last fight with Lopez ?(pacquiao has a strong history of doing this) Or that Thurman hasn’t knocked anyone out in years so pacquiao didn’t get a prime Thurman.
Floyd fights a younger fighter in canelo and they say he was too green and wasn’t ready when in reality they had damn near the same amount of professional fights when they fought lol. People forget Floyd was pressured into the fight with canelo because he was the new boogie man that was supposed to have floyd pissing the bed because manny was still fresh off the Marquez KO so they needed someone to be the guy floyd was ducking.
But manny beats Thurman which is arguably his biggest win of this decade and he is now considered fighter of the decade and the greatest fighter of all time smh.
Don’t get me wrong thurman is a good win for anybody including Floyd but when the future looks back on this time who would you rather have a W over Thurman or canelo?
You do know that mayweather called out mosley and cotto while he was still on top rank?THEY turned floyd down and did they get called duckers?... no.
Plus what was a mayweather vs thurman fight in 2015. Thurman only notable wins was bundu and Robert Guerrero.
Floyd since 2006 only fights 2x a year do you really expect him to get to everybody. Just like how floyd was going to fight a prime berto in 2011 while he was undefeated but who did floyd end up fighting THE WINNER of his fight with Ortiz.
But then like i said you called mosley racked through the coals AFTER Floyd beat him. But before the fight you said Floyd needed stop ducking mosley and fight him.
So judging from your history had floyd beat thurman in 2015 you would have said thurman was over rated and beat no one. But since floyd didn’t fight him your going to say he ducked him.
Good post and nice point about Mosley and Cotto. Floyd called Mosley out when he was at 130 and Mosley said NO(I got the KO mag interview where he says it)and Arum or Cotto NEVER called out Floyd until shortly before they fought. Arum knew better.
You do know that mayweather called out mosley and cotto while he was still on top rank?THEY turned floyd down and did they get called duckers?... no.
No excuse.
Post Top Rank, after Hatton, Floyd was the top guy, and took a two year "vacation" when he was expected to fight the winner of Cotto/Mosley. The ww division was hot with Williams, Margarito and Floyd was nowhere to be found.

Thurman earned a shot by being Floyd's WBC mandatory, was undefeated, was no better or worse than Guerrero, Ortiz, or Canelo, or Maidana for that matter, and those fights were made easily. No excuse.
But then like i said you called mosley racked through the coals AFTER Floyd beat him. But before the fight you said Floyd needed stop ducking mosley and fight him.
Well, yeah and by the time Floyd finally stepped in the ring with an already raked through the coals Mosley, he was a year and a half inactive and fought like it. Day late and a dollar short doesn't get major props here. I don't see why that's so hard to digest for the Floyd Boys. It isn't considered one of Floyds best wins by a long stretch, and the reason is Floyd dragged out making the fight until it was overmarinated. Hell the Canelo win is more significant in my book.
So judging from your history had floyd beat thurman in 2015 you would have said thurman was over rated and beat no one. But since floyd didn’t fight him your going to say he ducked him.
Ha, had Floyd beat Thurman in 2015, how about had Floyd even acknowledged Thurman in 2015 when Thurman was his WBC mandatory, and was calling him out every chance he got.
Had he beat Thurman I would give him about the same props I give him for beating Alvarez. I am not going to overrate it though and that's what Floyd Boys hate the most.
I am on record saying Hatton, Canelo, and Corrales are the best guys on Floyd's resume, and post Hatton, Floyd took his foot off the gas pedal. Taking a fight with Andre Berto when you had the more deserving Thurman as a mandatory supports that statement.
Based on your statement. what do you think cherrypicking the right time to fight a guy is about. (See Srl/Hagler)
It's no coincidence that Floyd does not get much credit overall for beating a raked through the coals Shane Mosley anyways.
Had he used his leverage as the face of boxing to fight the best guys in a more timely fashion, he would not get the flak he gets.

But you wasn’t concerned about mosley being a year and half removed from the ring before he beat mosley. You said floyd had to fight him because he was ducking him. Floyd didn’t jump in mosley’s Ring saying we need to fight. This is what is called moving the finish line. Once they make it there you move the goal line because you don’t want to give them credit.
.

Thurman's best win is Porter... before that, he had done nothing
he beat Porter in June 2016... NINE months after Mayweather retired
forget that...
who would be willing to commit their stupidity to print... by insisting that Thurman even had a punchers chance to beat Mayweather?
Thurman aint knocked anyone out for YEARS, let alone Mayweather..... what, you think he could get lucky, ALL NIGHT LONG? :lol1:
Thurman had done nothing to be mentioned as a potential Mayweather opponent... he still hasn't
Pac and his imaginary injury :(
May beating Pac wasn't a dream, though.
How can it be "imaginary"??? He went to the sea and with salt water and prayer it was healed. "God bless im healed". Who needs surgery for a torn rotator cuff?????????????
Nelo was as green as leaves on trees. He couldn't stop old man ssm so what did Floyd have to worry about? Fighting Mexican unknowns in mexico isn't getting you experience even if you pad out CV with 100 fights. Didn't stop with the CW though. Embarrassing he wanted one with kid in a weight class he was a champ in.
Yea wins over top 10 in Rhodes and top 5 vs Trout among others made him sooo green smdh.

Actually, all of this WAS said, and it was said before the fight. Which is why Pac was actually favored to win.
Still, let's be honest about Floyd as a welterweight. His competition was far from awesome.
Pac's victory over Thurman (even the contemporary, lesser version of Thurman) is better than anything Floyd accomplished as a welter. Just saying.
I said that would be a good win for mayweather too. I never said it was a bad win for pacquiao either. But I guarantee you floyd would not get called fighter of the decade with just beating thurman. If we’re being honest floyd has a far better resume than pacquiao this decade alone. Floyd has wins over PACQUIAO,canelo, cotto, maidana,(he was the hottest thing smoking after beating broner) mosley, and other honorable mentions.
Pacquiao lost to Marquez,Bradley(yes I felt he was robbed) mayweather and Jeff horn lol. Pacquiao was fighting guys like,Jeff horn,Brandon Rios,Jessie Vargas,Chris algirie, mosley after getting whooped by mayweather and a bad fight with mora, and a broner who hasn’t won a fight convincingly in years.
Thurman was a very good win for pacquiao if not his best win this decade BUT that should not qualify him for fighter of the year or atg just because he had a good opponent in there with him this time.
Some people are arguing Floyd is the FOTD now.
Pac did not fight Rios, Mosley and Algieri after losing to Floyd. You got your timeline way mixed up.
Let's be honest, a 40 1/2 year old Floyd beating Thurman would have been a big event and a legacy win.
Specially if he knocked him down and made him spit out his mouthpiece with a body shot.

No, Manny fought and destroyed the undefeated #1 welterweight that was 10 years his junior. The same guy Crawford and Spence wanted, Manny tore up.
I know you're hurting right now. I'm here to say you dont have to be. Manny lost to floyd that night, not you.
Manny was the one who left his balls at home, not you.
Let it go..
Manny and Floyd are both special fighters who have had stellar careers. The fanatics on both sides seem to overlook the fighter they support career in terms of how they picked their opponents and why. Boxing is a business and fighters will try to capitalize on each others names at the right time. If both sides admitted their fighters faults people could make a better argument when debating the greatness of one over another. They both used catch weights to gain advantages over other fighters but the opponent also took that fight. They both fought fighters on their way out but it also was a good paycheck for that aging fighter. Everyone wins except the few fans who get hung up on stupid *****.
I agree with everything you said..... GOOD post !!
but, of the TWO things that you mentioned.....
* weight manipulation
* well-timed opponent selection
1) Pacquiao was MUCH worse..... no question, not even close
2) they are the two accusations that pacfans fiercely direct toward Mayweather wtf?
like you said, both of those fanbases are guilty of shameless bias
but.......... only one of those fanbases is largely either..... totally-ignorant, or totally-dishonest
How many of mannys opponents are either coming off a loss or coming off a very non impressive win, like thurman just did?
I honestly lost count.
If you think Thurman was in his prime, that is fine. It prime isn't very good then because he had a terrible fight with Lopez.
Or you can think Thurman is out of prime after the 2 year layoff and Manny just fought another guy who is out of it.
either way :bryce:
this ^^
the stars of Team Pacquiao were Bruce Trampler and Brad Goodman
and yet, most pacfans never even heard of either of those guys
their "timing"... and weight manipulation... has been impeccable
