This guy had an unbelievable chin, perhaps the strongest chin of all times. He took massive bombs from Lennox Lewis without even defending himself and wasn't even staggered ... That was just freaking unbelievable.
McCall did it for 5 rounds while Mavrovic was taking Lennox's best shots for a whole 12. I'd have to go for Mav there.

From genetical point of view, Chechens are really distinct and different from other ethnicities in Caucasus. They have lighter complexion and features than other people from Caucasus mountains. it's not rare especially in the southern regions for ethnic russians to have intermixed with armenians, ossetians, georgians and the like which is why I made that observation, he doesn't look pure russian to me.
As for Dagestanis you can't really say that, they're quite a diverse bunch of people, something like 13-14 ethnic groups make up that area at the least, if I'm not mistaken.

Should Beterbiev be favoured ? Yes . At 9-1 ? No. This is a 2-1 favourite. Styles make fights. And I believe Smith is the best he's faced. Smith has crushing power in both fists. Beterbiev has been dropped a few times to lesser puncher's. Do I think Smith can pull off the upset ? Yes. Do I love the 9-1 odds if I pick Smith ? Yes. I laid 300 on Smith. The odds were too tempting. Beterbiev is no Bivol. He's way easier to hit. If I lose 300 , who cares. I don't.
