Check out this video. It shows the interaction between the ref and Rico after the KD. Rico is laying against the ropes in a corner. The ref finishes the 8 count and beckons for him step forward, but Rico stays in the corner and bares his teeth to show the ref his mouth guard is out. The ref then picks up the mouth guard and leads Rico to his own corner to have it replaced. What isn't shown there is Rico on unsteady legs as he crosses the ring and the ref not spotting that because he's focused on the mouth guard.
If the ref had been looking for an excuse to stop the fight, which is the narrative that some people are pushing, all he had to do was apply the rules correctly and it would have been over right there, when Rico stayed against the ropes in the corner after being told to to step forward. That was exactly what happened when AJ got stopped in the first Ruiz fight. AJ also spat his mouth guard when he went down, and he also stayed in a corner when the ref told him to step foward. AJ said he stayed in the corner because he though the ref was going to replace his mouth guard. The ref said he needed to see if AJ had his legs back before doing anything else, and he stopped the fight because AJ didn't show him that.

good video, clean shots by usyk . ref saved rico

Even this question post fight was such a loaded question "did you think going into the round you needed a knockout to win?"
already the assumption by the reporter is usyk was thinking he was losing?? thats like elon musk said recently in trial, a lawyer asking "will you stop beating your kids?"
yes, you will or no, you won't? :D
Surely the latest saga (Lawsuit) is clickbait? It's a great great story line. Floyd loves people hating on him.
I dont think any of this is real, just a way to get a certain demographic to hate their own .. testing the waters. they brainwash people to hate success.
Think about it
He ruined Fury vs AJ from happening when It would have been huge.
ruined Canelos star power on a fight vs Crawford who then retired.
Ruined Furys reputation
Ruined Usyks reputation
Joined up with Dana White who has been trying to kill boxing for 20 years
Like, what POSITIVES has he actually done for boxing?
Making Bertebiev vs Bivol is the only thing I can think of.
are there any planned matches coming up the pipeline?
I scored it 1, 3, 5 , 7, 9 for Rico; 2, 4 , 6 , 8 for Usyk. The 10th hard to say - Rico was more active, Usyk hurt him way more.
Happy do discuss any of these rounds.
I'm suprised you say 10th is hard to say. although I didnt count the rounds, I remember usyk had rico wobbled at the end of the 10th which led to what usyk did to rico in the next round
Scored it 8 - 2 at the time of the Usyk save, you may have it 7 - 3 but any closer is rigged just like the judges
8-2 for rico? i did not count the rounds, but i watched the fight on mute with no rounds showing on the screen and had usyk dominating
rico did get some clean right hands in exchanges in the early rounds, and he had advantage on the ropes with his size. but rico could not find usyk after the mid-way point of the fight and usyk began treating ricos head like a kid tearing into play dough
Usyk did not finish the job, the ref ended the fight outside regulatory time.
the ref stopping the fight has nothing to do with usyk.
I have no doubt Usyk stops him in the first 30 secs of Round 12 if the ref didn’t stop it. However, the ref should have let it go, as that was a correct thing to do. Maybe he made both men a huge favour setting up a very lucrative rematch.
100% agree, in the ali v foreman days, stopping the fight after the bell would be unconstitutional !! "save by the bell" has no meaning in boxing now.
You still think fights are judged based on their faces?! :lol1:
Your favorite lost, get over it. It doesn’t matter how many paragraphs you type to convince yourself otherwise. I’m sorry your feelings are hurt but it happens in this sport.
usyk was up on the cards so why are you bringing up judges? i had usyk winning but i did not count the rounds. if usyk is my favorite, then my favorite actually won :)
“Look at their faces…” :lol1: is that how you judge fights?! Zero clue what you’re talking about fanboy.
when you say things like "Your favorite fighter got battered by a kickboxer", but then say looking at the fighter faces at the end of the fight to see which one got battered is asinine, is why i call you a crack baby and you should slap your mom for smoking it when she was pregnant with you.
Your favorite fighter got battered by a kickboxer, barely won a round. I don’t expect someone who’s first exposure to boxing was AJ vs Usyk to know what he’s talking about so it’s all good. You’re new to this.
how is usyk my favorite fighter, crack baby?
No. Rico had good moments and made it very competitive, arguably winning going into the 11th. Full credit to Rico. Usyk had his worst night probably over the last 15 years. Still, he did what elites do. He found a way to finish the job.
i can agree with this since i dont watch many usyk fights. rico had good moments but usyk got the job done and end of 10th and 11th round is proof.
if it went the 12th, rico would have got some more a$$ whooping by usyk.
It was this fight all night long
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4ZonuFFm9E
watch that short video with me, rico was actively going at usyk in the beginning and landed a few clean right hands and a few hooks landing during exchanges, correct about rico.
AND THAT WAS ALL SHE WROTE for rico. now look at usyk in the video, in the very beginning you can see usyk landing clean jabs to ricos head even during their exchanges.
usyk was the one landing jabs all night and keeping his distance. those jabs came with combos and then the uppercut started landing on rico.
AND THAT WAS ALL SHE WROTE for rico, usyk turned into swiss cheese 10th and 11th round from usyk's work.
Usyk was subpar but the way the lead American commentator who sounds like he belongs on WWE was yelling each time Rico landed a glancing blow made it seem like he was on the verge of getting knocked out. Add that to the scorecard of another theatrical American (Coppinger) and a false narrative was presented here. Humans are very easily manipulated by confident speakers (see most politics) so suddenly you're seeing an outrage when you see the questionable stoppage and scorecards.
A couple of swing rounds early is all it takes to get the official scorecards rather than Coppinger's card (who is generally considered incompetent apart from Saturday, apparently). Does someone want to try unpacking their conspiracy claims rather than just baldly asserting them?
First, who was the source of the conspiracy: Turki, Zelensky, the Lizard People?
Was it decided in advance or orchestrated in real time? If in advance, how did the Lizard People anticipate a close fight no one else did and, presumably, give the officials their secret instructions in advance? If in real time, how was this achieved? If Turki was pulling the strings, why was he favouring the favourite in a perceived mismatch which he almost certainly lost money on?
Come on, this is your big opportunity. No more "they" saved Usyk, commit to your theory in detail and allow it to be examined ;)
good point and i assume this is why people had rico winning.
I decided to watch the fight on mute. I had usyk winning through the night, usyk was landing his jabs, then combos to ricos head and eventually uppercuts that led to the 10th and 11th round where usyk had ricos head on a swivel.
Boxing got exposed deal with it.
wow incredible boxing analyst of the fight!!
stop talking about boxing buddy or at least say something about the fight other than "boxing is exposed",
how many jabs did rico land? what shots did rico land on usyk??
Boxing got exposed, Rico was toying with Usyk, ref declared Usyk winner outside of regular time to save the face of boxing.
what fight were you watching? another crack baby trying to speak..
usyk was the one in control, rico wasn't toying with anything except turning his head into a bobblehead..
look at their faces at the end if you are that blind to boxing.
I find it highly unrealistic that Usyk took this fight lightly.
It’s one of the biggest events of his career.
He always has the discipline, and trains properly for every fight. Adding wgt was prob also part of his strategy.
He just couldn’t figure out Rico. He struggled finding the right distance. He ate a big right in the 2nd round, which made him more cautious. He also looked confused on the inside. Rico to his credit was better than we thought. But he had a pretty basic approach. It wasn’t like he was physically overpowering or exceptionally quick and athletic.
Usyk couldn’t adjust and adapt vs a 1-0 guy. You can’t consider anyone with those kinds of issues as the king of boxing. I think his stock goes way down.
you need to watch that fight again when you say, "He just couldn’t figure out Rico. He struggled finding the right distance."
usyk kept his distance and landed clean shots to ricos face throughout the night. jabs all night along with combos. and then that uppercut started landing midway through the fight. you are right, rico landed a clean right a few times but that was the only clean shots landed really.
Stop it. Usyk took a beating, barely won two rounds and had to be saved. Bull**** fight, bull**** sport and bull**** era.
again, you are a clown and stop being a crack baby
Cope harder. Usyk didn't take this fight seriously and Verhoeven did.
are we talking about the fight or are we talking about what you feel? no one cares about how you feel. usyk had control the entire fighting landing at will at rico and rico had nothing for usyk except use his size against usyk on the ropes which rico landed no clean punches
stop talking about boxing and start learning
They literally had to stop the fight at 3.02 of the 11th round to save Usyk.
RICO GOT DROPPED IN THE 11th ROUND and then took 6 head shots after he got up ... and you think the fight was stopped to save Usyk???
slap your mom for smoking crack when she was pregnant with you and never talk about boxing again!!
Fury vs Nganou
Aj vs Jake Paul ( KO barely saved face)
Usyk vs Rico
Just plain embarrassing for boxing, been watching less and less ever since. The talent is abysmal still the best sport in the world but damn is the talent sad as hell
aj and usyk need to fight
edit - nevermind they have fought twice, its hard to catch full fights so highlights get forgotten
LMAO the cope is unrelated
Usyk had life and death and was saved because he had to be to salvage what's left of boxings reputation.
what fight were you watching? you need to rewatch it on mute. usyk never got hurt.
