Raging, I had kash to win by round six, assumed price would be gassed by then and it would be just a case of tipping him over. Oh well.
This turned out to be the best outcome for price, nobody would have really cared if he had won or lost this one, but the bite has generated a lot of buzz. Maybe price will get one last meaningful fight out of this. One last L by ko to send him off to pasture
Beatings (of the career-ending style) usually happen when someone has a chin of iron and their corner fails to step in and save their guy.
Khan doesn't have a chin of iron......
Or a corner that cares enough about him to step in. Khan's dick dad would make sure of that
AJ is 1/9 to win, Miller is 16/2. Don't expect Joshua to lose but there's always a chance for an upset ko with the big lads. Might be worth a little flutter
Lol...nice way of saying your fighter is s**t! Great quote from Caldwell, "if he's not a giant, lumbering can he doesn't suit Chisora". Ha ha great stuff Dave, at least you're honest
How come ggg weighs in at the gym and canelo weighs in in his bathroom? Obviously weighing in straight after emptying himself with a few jugs of clean prep. Hope ggg knocks this cheating mofo clean out
Wilder has always said that he got into boxing to provide a decent life for his family. Essentially he has over achieved by becoming champion and defending so successfully. Surely even with so many blood suckers around him he has made enough to provide for his kids and probably their kids too. He did what he set out to do, better to walk away now while he still can walk and let finkle and deas find their next meal ticket to exploit.
Rooting for DJ in this one, he's a man I admire from his boxing and outside the ring battles and victories. That said, I hate hearing boxers talk like this, "I beat him and he's stronger than this guy" kinda thing. I know there's an element of trying to get inside Canelo's head here, but it also seems like he's trying to convince himself that he'll win, which should be unnecessary if he thinks he'll win. Also one of the things I like about Canelo is the fact that he seems to fight better when someone gets under his skin, evidenced by the whole GGG peds incident. Rooting for DJ but reconsidering placing money on it.
Anyone of the top fighters of yesterday & today could of done what l0m0 did with the same chances & opposition l0m0 was givin' & no not cuz Nelo is Mexican. He does look irish too but Nelo has fought tougher fighters than l0m0 has.
Fair enough, think we'll have to agree to disagree on that. While past boxers may have been able to do what loma has done, I don't think many would have been able to do it in the way Lomachenko did, i.e so emphatically.
You've pointed out the main issue I have with the whole p4p concept, and that is that there are differences in quality across the different weights. That's why I don't put much stock in the whole p4p conversation. That said, when I do think about p4p I don't base it on who a boxer has fought, I look at how he's gone about his business in the ring and try to compare how he would do against any other boxer if they were fighting at the same weight. All things considered I don't think anyone would best Lomachenko at the moment with all things like weight being equal, and when you consider the related changes in power etc that comes with a levelling off of the weight issue.
Saying that though, you could argue that if the weight applied for p4p was middle weight Lomachenko would suffer from the loss of speed that he relies on so you'd have to favor canelo in that scenario...
See this is why I don't get into the whole p4p thing, it's such a mind f**k when you start to go down the rabbit hole, lol.
What I would say though is that, having boxed since I was 8 and being at a decent level within the Irish Amateur set up for the next 14 years, all things being equal I'd rather get in the ring with canelo than Lomachenko, as I believe I'd receive a more embarrassing beat down from Lomachenko...that's how I tend to rate boxers when talking p4p..hope this makes sense if you haven't fallen asleep reading this epic :)
Garcia's online "celebrity" just gives golden boy more reason to protect him as much as possible. As an influencer he's worth his pay just through the number of viewers he can push golden boy's, DAZN's way. Not to mention whatever brand of sports gear he wears. This has been proven with AJ and Under Armour. Expect Garcia to be pushed towards one of the lesser titles or interim titles. This will keep all the casuals and GB happy. Kid is going to be minted either way, and fair play to him considering boxing has a rep for not always sharing the wealth.
With Sanchez
No nutritionalist.
No real strength and conditioning program.
Poor corner advice
A trainer that loves talking and the media spotlight.
Repitive practice mainly centering on power.
He should have made this change several years ago.
Agreed. Add to that the high altitude big bear training for a guy wrong side of 30 and you're going to start seeing issues with the body. I'd say there was an element here of Golovkin knowing he needed something different, the whole walking people down and blocking shots with your face wasn't working against the better boxers, and Abel only seems to have one way of training a fighter to fight (look at Gassiev for example, turned pro as a mobile, slick boxer puncher and you don't see that in him at all anymore). Good for Golovkin to try something new and to recognise that he needed something new, just a shame there's so much animosity between them now after working together so long.
Buuuuuummmm. Fingers crossed JCC gets knocked the f**k out. What a waste of a name and significant talent, shame. I'd say Sr would've rathered having jr kidnapped than his watch stolen
So why can't it be that l0m0 gets more praise than proven fighters like Nelo that causes the l0m0 "hate"? Cuz Nelo is the P4P Best right now but for some odd reason they put l0m0 ahead of him, now why is that?
Not sure I understand your comment...if you're asking why Lomachenko is higher up most p4p lists I'd say it's because of what he's achieved in such a short time period...can't speak for other people but I'd say it's a combination of that and the fact that (warranted or not) there's been quite a bit of controversy around some of Canelo's biggest fights. If you reckon it's because Canelo is Mexican, I think that's your own issue, besides look at Canelo he's as Irish as I am
Delahoya is responsible for 'the best not fighting the best'?
Delahoya didn't force Golovkin to fight a part-time boxer
last night. Golovkin chose to do that mismatch all on his own.
The last guy, not named Canelo, who GGG chose to fight was
Vanes Martirosyan. Vanes Martirosyan!!! It seems like GGG
is doing as much avoiding to fight 'the best' as anybody else
DLH is a washed up jealous little c**k knocker. Jealous of any fighter still in the ring doing their stuff. Golovkin is 36, joint highest number of title defences in MW history. This was the first non title fight he'd had in how long? And little man DLH shows him no respect? As a former fighter he should be showing respect to any fighter who has the balls to get in the ring. I loved DLH as a boxer but as a post boxing person he comes across as a di**. How many belts did Canelo have when he fought golovkin twice? DLH is taking shots at Golovkin why? Because Golovkin didn't ignore Canelo's failed drugs tests like DLH wanted him to? Sums DLH up as the spoilt little tween he is.
Great post - here is someone bringing something NEW to the discussion - good on you.
For me he just seemed 'off' and if I have to put my finger on why I suppose the best word is he looked tentative. From the beginning actually but definitely after the first KD.
If he was suffering temporary cognitive impairment (or dementia) then his reaction time would surely fall by a very significant percentage and that is kryptonite for any sports person but especially a fighter.
I don't know if he threw even one uppercut which is the classic punch to deter a shorter boxer who is swarming you aggressively. But if he couldn't think correctly then no wonder he didn't.
Yeah I agree he seemed off before entering the ring, and that probably played a part in him getting caught in the first place (along with Ruiz' awesome hand speed). Cognitive impairment can have very unpredictable and varying symptoms. In someone of "normal" activity levels you would likely see the impact clearly in a physical / motor control sense however, and it may seem counter intuitive, in a high performance athlete, muscle memory can overcome cognitive impairment to an extent that it's not as obvious, depending on the extent of the damage of course. Add to that you have someone who has been conditioning his body for fighting for such a long time. Joshua's (and most boxers') base survival instinct isn't fight or flight, it's fight or fight, combine that with deep seeded muscle memory and the body will keep going even after you've mentally switched off. Joshua got to the 7th by reverting to type and utilising a slow long jab, which Ruiz didn't seem too eager to try get past. Once it went back in the phone box Joshua was done.
As you pointed out even a small reduction in movement would be lethal to someone at this level, I think he did lose a certain amount of movement / reflex, but it only became apparent once Ruiz upped the tempo on the inside ✌️
*Edit - why not tweet AJ or one of his team with that info?*AJ has a top notch medical team on hand, I'm sure they picked it up on review. Plus med teams at that level don't appreciate unsolicited outside advice 😉
This is a trickier fight for Lomachenko than people expect. Campbell is not a walkover fighter, he's intelligent in the ring and has already questioned why other Fighters haven't tried the "Salido blueprint" to beating lomachenko.
While I fully expect lomachenko to win, it's more down to Lomachenko's ability to beat anyone around his weight than a criticism on Campbell's abilities. I expect this fight to end with a corner stoppage. Lomachenko may have difficulty stopping Campbell due to his size and ability to avoid a lot of shots, but I reckon his corner will stop it due to accumulated damage. Good fight while it lasts.
Now for the difficult task of getting tickets
I reckon Carl will get the job done but will take a lot of shots to the back of the head in doing so
Agreed, not a fan of Warrington, he has that vibe that Frank Warren likes to see in his fighters. Can just see him and Billy hoe having a few laughs in the caravan with a few cans of Dutch Gold
Nice guy, would be regrettable if he ends up damaged as a result of taking too many fights. Sky Sports should do him a favour and give him a job as an analyst. He comes across as knowledgeable when not talking about himself. Only problem is they'd have to go for long camera angles as we'd never get to see his head.
100% agree with Wilder on this one. Doesn't matter who you are or where you're from, if you're caught and can't provide a legitimate excuse (eg trace it back to a legitimate medical treatment) you should be taken out of the sport. As Freddie Roach said earlier in the week, it could end up with someone getting killed in the ring.
This has the makings of a really good fight if Khan does what he's told and keeps his chin tucked. Big if but stranger things have happened. Have never been a big fan of Khan (a lot of which is due to his d**k father) but have to admit he's never been one to refuse to step up. The whole "waiting for mayweather" didn't really help his career (again his father's idea apparently) but in fairness he likely wouldn't be in a position to fight anymore if he had continued that getting knocked out streak.
Remains a classy boxer to watch though
