Apologies if I'm not in the correct forum with my question here.
1) Is anyone aware if any of the tv stations, such as HBO, Showtime, and others of that stature, have ever produced a documentary regarding the behind the scenes aspects of what goes into the production of the cards they'd show? I've always been curious about that aspect of big fights
2) There are fights, such as Michael Nunn vs James Toney, that were shown on HBO's PPV company which was called TVKO at the time and years later was renamed HBO PPV, or at least that's my understanding. Anyway, this fight wasn't done by HBO's commentary team, but 2 others, one being named Thom Cornelis, who did the sports for the nightly news for one of the local TV stations in Davenport, Iowa, Nunn's hometown (mine as well and where i write this now) and the location of the fight. I've come across similar examples up through the 2000's, an example being David Diaz vs Erik Morales, where the only mention is a between rounds outdoors shot where on screen it says "Diaz vs Morales is being distributed by HBO PPV."
So what's going on there? Was HBO basically renting out there ability to broadcast PPV events to promoters who had cards that, for whatever reasons, HBO didn't wish to produce themselves?
