For Clottey:
Manny Pacquiao is obviously the faster fighter, but Joshua Clottey is a big, tall, tough fighter with more than a few things going for him.
The first thing I expect him to do is to throw the left hook early and often while leading him to the ropes. I don't consider Clottey to have a good hook because he chooses to slap with it. But what I think he'll be using it for is to keep turning Pacquiao to the right, directly into range for his money punch: The lead right hand. (BANG!) Now, Joshua Clottey is a come-forward fight who likes to counter punch, so I might even expect to see Clottey use this very same strategy when Pacquiao throws the right hook. Clottey will throw the left hook, then BANG! the lead right.
But the lead right isn't his only weapon. Clottey has a devastating textbook uppercut in his arsenal. You may look out for Clottey throwing another left hook to Pacquiao, putting him in range again for the right uppercut. I can especially see this happening should he manage to score already with the lead right. Pacman will undoubtedly throw a punch during this trade that lands first, but Clottey has a chin of iron. Pacquiao will land first, Clottey will land harder.
If he can do that, Clottey will be the first ever boxer to celebrate with those Cowboy cheerleaders in the new stadium.
For Pacquiao:
Joshua Clottey is 5'9", fights tall, and uses the peek-a-boo defense. What does that mean for the 5'6" Pacquiao? Body shots, Body shots, body shots. As I noticed during his fight with Zab Judah, Judah was very effective when he would throw a quick combination to Clottey's head to stand him straight up or lean him back, then following through a quick 1-2 to his body.
With Pacquaio though, look for him to take that to the next level. Expect a lead left hand followed by a double jab or even a right hook. As Clottey leans back, the 5'6" Pacquiao will have the taller Clottey at his mercy with his hands at his head, unable to stop Pacman from throwing a lead left hand and 2 to 3 hooks to his body (Bang! Bang-Bang!).
But here is the real brilliance of the strategy: With Clottey unable to protect himself from Pacquiao's body attack, he will most certainly bring his hands down and try to back up to get space. Leaving that chin wide open for a uppercut. (BANG!)
If he can do that, it'll be the Pacman who gets to see his hand raised on that big screen TV. :side:
...Well, that's how I see things going down. How about you? Lemme hear you're prediction or game-plan for either fighter.
