Previous to this fight I put Ward right next to Mayweather in terms of skills. But now I'm reconsidering cuz he really didn't have anything for Kovalev on the outside. His clinch game was his saving grace, albeit one that continues to straddle the line of what's legal and what's not. Dude has a long way to go before he reaches mayweather status.
Did anybody notice when ward went to clinch, at times he would wrap kovalev up at the thighs, knock him off balance and then work the body? That's the shyt I don't like.
40-36 I don't think its unreasonable to safe walters is befuddled. If I were him, I blast the right hand to his chest, hard as I can just to make him take a step back.
I was in the passenger seat of the Ward War Wagon but man Kovalev won this fight. And as a Ward fan it's not hard to admit cuz I love the sport and frankly this is the shyt we don't need.
All of those screaming robbery let me know you know nothing about Boxing or the scoring system. A whole load of ineffective aggression after the KD. It was a matador bull fight Kovalev was frustrated tonight and he lost BOTH championship rounds.
What heart from the p4p no. 1 Andre Ward.nevertheless Kovalev was the aggressor who did the most damage. There wasn't a round where Ward was leading the action, and there weren't many rounds were you can say Ward really outperformed Kovalev. I mean who would you have rather been tonight?
obviously we'll rewatch it and when we do, we gotta pay close attention, especially to the first half and find one round for Ward. It seemed like it took six rounds to feel him out. Hell some of the announcers stated Ward finally became comfortable in the 9th round or some ish.
Most poster ITT are claiming too many disciplines to learn in a relatively short amount of time. This is true but I think the biggest factor in going undefeated is the level
Of control a fighter has in any given fight. The sweet science, as the term denotes is a game where reasonable predictions can be made any given set of circumstances. Mma isnt a refined sport so there are instances that seem like toss ups.
This Shaw fighter got me wondering. Do all fighters have aspirations of becoming one of the greats, or at least a contender, or do some just fight for a check? Cuz the Shaw guy is good. has good feet for a guy his size, good technique. Evidently he could landed any punch he threw so where was the power? How far does he intend to go with his body type and lack of power, or killer instinct?
