This is a bit random but I've been perusing the reddit.com/boxing and its legit one of the worst boxing discussions boards out there.
Boxingscene may be full of plebs, however you can still find plenty of great analysis from those who really get the sport. I feel its the problem with Reddit compared to traditional messageboards. The latter would often be for those with legit interest in the topics at hand (enough to even be on a specialized site in the first place) whereas I feel Reddit is for casuals who legit know fuck all about the topic at hand yet feel the need to comment.
Someones going to ask why I say this...it was actually a highlight reel of all the knockdowns Fury as taken. Now, I personally dislike Fury, but its hard to deny his serious fucking talent. I also think he's more game than he lets on, I wanted desperately for Wilder to flatten him but his skill and heart are undeniable. And yet, lo and behold, he is considered on that sub to be "overrated". Something about that kinda infuriates me. Fury is a lot of things, a tosser? Yes. A liar? Deffo. A drug cheat? Certainly. But he is still THE guy of the division. Unsurprisingly, their is a serious circle jerk of lame Matchroom fighters like Whyte and Joshua. Just feel the morons there will buy into anyone who adequately packaged to them. Literally the prototype casino marks who make bets on absolutely awful fighters.
I wouldn't class people like Fury or Mayweather as "nice guys" but I can appreciate their incredible talent. What irks me about that sub (and so many out here) is unless they feel some strange affection for a fighter, they can't appreciate their talent. They dickride guys like Kambosos and Joshua because they play into the "humble nice guy" role and are media darlings. Its actually kinda nauseating.
