Yeah that's all impressive Khova, but I would love for Mayweather to do all that against a tough rugged welterweight like Clottey, who actually pose more of a threat to Mayweather then Hatton did.
Having watched the fight I dont think any welterweight can truly call themselves a favorite in the ring with Mayweather. WIlliams is awkward but he cannot beat Mayweather simply for being busier. Clottley and Cotto, do you really think Mayweather wont adapt if those fights ae the be all and end all ?
None f those fights have priority right now. Maybe if one of Cotto or Williams cleans up then the deman will be for a superfight. But right now you have the promoter looking at how he can further aid in building his primary fighters rep and bank account. Himself. One day another chance will come.
The thing is there is a football yobbishness about the Hatton support and the general UK approach to Hatton. Its like, Hatton is my team and therefore he has to be better. I dont like the crowds booing fighters and the stupid chanting as if they are on a away football match BUT it hasnt helped England win football matches against better teams and I doubt it will have any effect for Hatton. In fact it could work against him because whilst Mayweather is fighting for his own place in history, Ricky Hatton has a WHOLE country egging him on to bust up the ribs of Mayweather.
There is also a latent racism in all of this. The interaction with someone like Mayweather in the UK will nine times out of ten be the young black guys with their hoods and the jewellery who are seen as the thugs of the streets. Well now, their Ricky is facing that 'thug'.
The main point I have never seen in this forum is that Mayweather Promotions is taking piece of this pie. In other words, every gesture, every fragile moment, and every glimpse that Floyd may be ripe for the taking or is to be hated has been milked by Mayweather and his PR people. They know people want to see him beaten. ANd most people dont just want to see Mayweather lose, they want him busted. And those people will do anything to see it.
ANd that means more ' Money' for Mayweather and his clan.

This is not a hate thread, but all Floyd fans going on about Hatton hitting and holding and complaining saying this is illegal is only what Floyd Mayweather did in the first 4-5 rounds.
Mayweather deserved the victory and was superb but lets be honest in the first few rounds it was Floyd who grabbed hold of Ricky as soon as he got close and then held with one hand and hit with the other and also elbowed and used the forearm to the face. I'm not complaining about this and Ricky never either and you do what you have to.
But Floyd fans don't criticise Hatton for it when Floyd does it himself but so much better.
No he didn't do it for the duration of the fight but did in the first few rounds before wearing Hatton down and putting on a defensive and offensive masterclass.
You are 100% correct and of course it was part of a deliberate plan to frustrate Hatton. And it worked ! Floyd was potshotting and holding. This forced the ref to become part of the fight equation, something of course Hatton and his camp did not want. Inevitably it took clinching out of the equation because the ref started gettin eagle eyed on it. Genius.
The brilliance of PBF has to be realised even within these minor details.
One other note. What is Mannys Stewards problem with Money May ? He was so very negative in his post analysis. Like he aways expected this to happen when before the fight and the first few rounds he was predicting problems fr Mayweather.
This was a magnificent perforamce in and out of the ring.
First it is safe to say that Hatton lost the mind games before the fight. He himself admitted that the leadup had him gung ho and eager to rush face forward after Mayweather (though it can be argued thats his style anyway).
Second Mayweather as fight promoter was brilliant. Aided I would expect by HBO (if I was a Brit I'd sue em for misrepresentation) they spent time building the gangsta thug who was sufering from underestimating Hatton and also having fragile hands, so much that they never showed him ever hitting a heavy bag in earnest. Meanwhile they had Hatton trumped up as the good lad with the awesom punching power. Cue Brits and Americans who love 'decent' fighters running to see Mayweathers ribs broken.
Result...more Money for Mayweather (he did co promote this fight after all).
It was great. The ultimate con job. Outsmarted by the thug...and stripped bare.ANd Mayweather even had the audacity to big up Hatton again and express willingness to jump over De La Hoya and feed once more at the tough...this time in the UK.
The other part of this is about Mayweather the fighter.
The adaptation that he showed was incredible. First he pot shotted and held, breaking up Hattons rhythm. The he went low and high and confused Hatton. Then he fought him on the inside and forced Hatton to feel his own body punching power.
Then he unveiled the jab and then with Hatton being egged on by the thought that he could still have a chance of KOing Mayweather, he brutally put the light out.
A brilliant businessman, actor and of course boxer.

Ricky Hatton was fooled and you sense he now knows it. Also whats with Manny Steward ans his Floyd hating.
The problem is I dont see a fight out there where the other fighter brings commercial value to the fight ala DLH and Hatton.
Maybe if Cotto or Williams cleans up the division and HBO / Golden Boy can put up magic numbers. Remember, Mayweather now promotes. He is now seeing the numbers behind the scenes. That changes the perspective of a fighter as to whether they REALLY are making money for the kind of hurt they are putting themselves through.
FLOYD WOULD USE COTTO'S STRENGTH AGAINST HIM TO BREAK COTTO DOWN, BECAUSE FLOYD IS TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO METHODICAL FOR COTTO AND WILLIAMS. HE DICTATES THE PACE OF ANY FIGHT, NO MATTER WHO HE FIGHTS.
Thanks. I kept this piece because I agree with this 100%. Mayweather has seen behind the curtain. He like DLH are now seeing the real money of the business and at the same time PBF is probably the only fighter in boxing with a legitimate pop at making boxing history. Do you not see Ali ? Mumbling and bumbling around ? Is that what 'The Greatest' in a sport should signify ?
Or what about Sugar Ray. Hardly in Mayweathers league for financial security.
Mayweather will fight the big fights. They wont be pick em and slug them. The artform at that level requires much more than this. It requires Superfight.
There is no other draw that can make a superfight within his current wight classes. Someone has to emerge. Meanwhile Floyd will be on vacation. Waiting.
Who said about crumbling under pressure. Cotto will have a much bigger problem. Cottos strength is his strength. He would be fighting the smartest boxer possibly in history.
You did see how Mayweather adapted to Hatton. This wasnt a typical Cotto blast you out or come through a war and win. And neither will a Cotto and Mayweather fight be like that. It will be a chess match between a chess player and a butcher.
I really cannot see Cotto being able to deal with a fighter who would give him at least 3 or four different looks whilst scoring points through the fight. He is not built to deal with that. To be fair, noone is.
id rather see hatton win because as skilled as mayweather is hes not exciting anymore imo, its important to have many styles of boxing otherwise it'd become boring and stale.
Excellence is always boring. The Lakers started getting boring when they kept on winning. Now the SPurs are boring. Lance Armstrong was boring as mud. AC Milan was boring when they were dominating EUropean soccer. And I bet you can get some peeps who will tell you New England are boring as hell as well.
Mayweather needs Hatton for sure, but boxing needs mayweathers more than it needs Hattons. Because if every other fighter can blow up in between bouts, treats the science as a contest of bully you before you bully me etc, then why should someone box instead of doing UFC ?
