as i have posted, i expected him to dominate, which he really didnt, and i expected to win by UD, which he didnt. he knocked Ricky out. something I never thought he would do. I give Floyd alot of credit for that. I dont understand the judges scorecards and at times, it seemed like Cortez was cutting Floyd some slack when it came to the elbows. One thing though, where were the Floyd Mayweather fans? Why was that place full of Brits even though the fight took place in America and in Floyd's backyard. What does that say about his "draw power"? I think if Floyd were to conduct himself like he did AFTER the fight, that arena would have been predominately with Floyd fans. The Floyd that showed up for THIS fight and AFTER the interview is the Floyd I want to be a fan of. Again, congrats to Floyd, I knew he would win but not like this so my hats off. Let the nuthugging, jacking off to Floyd's posters begin.
The smoke has cleared and yes mayweather won.
it was one of his most impressive displays of skill/talent that i've seen from him in quite a few years.
for once im pleased with his performance due to the fact he didnt just use defensive minded tactics...he also got in there and at times fought hatton's fight.
All the credit to Mayweather for a great performance and showing he can be a good guy by giving hatton so much praise and being humble when the fight was over.
i'd like to see more of that type of mayweather in and out of the ring.
hatton didnt display his best performance but he sure did fight his heart out and although i would bet mayweather to win, i was hoping hatton could pull out a victory...
he showed a lot of heart and courage and no matter how many times he got caught with good punches he kept coming forward and you have to appreciate that if you're a true boxing fan.
i do however think the judges scorecards were a little off...i had mayweather ahead 3 points (2 rounds and 1 point for the foul) going into the 10th round.
i dont think hatton only won one round up until the 10th.
i think that was a little bit of an exaggeration but i also wasnt at ringside so i seen a different fight than those in the arena.
either way im not taking anything away from mayweather i clearly had him winning the fight and knew hatton would need a couple of knockdowns or a knockout to win.
it was a good fight on both sides even if statistically it didnt appear like it...and even with all the downtime from the holding (on both fighter's part).
cant wait to see these two get in the ring again (just not against each other...dont think ricky would have a better chance at all a second time around).
if we're lucky we will see de la hoya vs. hatton and floyd vs. cotto or another worthy opponent.
by the way (for the record) whoever was whinning about cortez stopping it early take note that it was going to get stopped anyway...hatton's corner were calling it off win he went down (the ref didnt see it...he just stopped it)
so it wouldnt have mattered but i know hatton has a ton of heart and given the chance he would have kept fighting until he was knocked out. he's a good guy.
agree or disagree?
Very good post. I also had Floyd up by 3 when the fight ended.
Why did Hatton want Floyd to **** his arse?
Wasn't Mayweather basically already doing that by whooping his ass all night? Thought that was pretty gay on Hatton's part, not sure. Also found it a little weird how he showed his ass on 24/7. I dunno, maybe that's funny over the pond or something.
well you know the ring was larger, cortez was separating them
alot in the first few rounds ... but it was good for boxing
because Hatton is too much of a wrestler.
Imagine if he became pound for pound fighter ?!!!
maybe in wrestling but boxing ? ...
so props to Mayweather
Hatton has gotten away with wrestling for a long time. It was nice to see him beaten at his own game. I don't understand why Ricky doesn't fight like the way he actually trains. He doesn't go into the Gym and wrestle for training, why fight that way.

I think the complaints over Cortez extend to more than the stoppage. Cortez was deplorable. But Floyd was great last night and he didn't need Cortez' help anyway. That's the ironic thing.
Now it's time for Floyd to finally move on to Cotto. That's the fight. That's been the fight for quite sometime.
i agree with you and emjoy the reading.
i had mayweather 4 points ahead at the moment of the ko :P....the judged were terrible. i had it a draw up to round 6 =P...then it was only mayweather.

No way i can see Hatton-Delahoya happening now. I mean a left hook from Mayweather knocked him out, what do you think would happen when a much bigger puncher, whos best punch is a left hook gets in the ring with him. Im sure DelaHoya was banking on it going to a decision a close one, and then he thought well ill be able do something floyd couldnt do (a KO) but now that Floyds already done it, no reason for Oscar to fight him. Better yet, i doubt Ricky would even want to fight him.
I noticed the other article and it said "Pac still number 2 p4p after Mayweather victory". I said to myself "I bet Ronnie wrote that shit" and low and behold that nuthugger wrote the article.
The midget kept talking shit about Mayweather and look what happened, his ass couldn't cash the check his mouth was writing :owned:
do you mean cheque, you stupid little girl, never seen anyone pwn themselves before
BTW I Only had Hatton winnning 3 rounds..
I also had Hatton winning 3 rounds, one of them Hatton being deducted a point.
Round 1: 10-9 Mayweather
Round 2: 10-9 Mayweather
Round 3: 10-9 Hatton
Round 4: 10-9 Mayweather
Round 5: 10-9 Hatton
Round 6: 9-9 Even
Round 7: 10-9 Mayweather
Round 8: 10-9 Mayweather
Round 9: 10-9 Mayweather
Round 10: 10-7 Mayweather (at least before the stoppage)
Even though it was apparent that Hatton was the smaller dude in the fight. The midget kept talking shit about Mayweather and look what happened, his ass couldn't cash the check his mouth was writing :owned:
PBF all credit to you for proving you're the better man, You talk the talk and walked the walk, You shut up your doubters and they will just keep on hating you for that...Kudos
Mayweather earned a little respect last night.
Even though it was apparent that Hatton was the smaller dude in the fight, he gave a good performance. It was some bullshit on the part of Joe Cortez though not letting Ricky fight and often blaming Hatton for clinching when it was the other way around, Hatton did clinch a lot though. I don't see how you are gonna deduct a point for hitting in the back when Mayweather is turning his back to him and not deduct Mayweather for using elbows but by the 5th or 6th I already knew it wasn't long before Ricky gassed out and got popped like he did. Hatton pulled a Gatti though blocking with his face instead of his hands.. and to me last night, sorry to say it Brits, but I feel Hatton was exposed. He looked amateur against Floyd and I doubt he would have a better performance vs. De La Hoya.
I think it's bullshit what Floyd said about having accomplished everything he needed to in the sport of boxing and see it as him being scarred to lose his 0.
He leaves now he will have a good 130-135 record but besides that he will be like another Roy Jones. Miguel Cotto deserves that shot though and with the line up that the Welter division has, I don't see why anyone would want to leave now.
But besides that I found myself having to defend Floyd last night which put me in a position I had never been in before defending a fighter I don't even really like. Everyone I was with chose the fight on OO Ricky is a good guy, Mayweather is too cocky he needs to get nocked down a notch, etc. And I was one of two people who knew Mayweather was gonna win. He gave a little of what he promised in the last rounds though and made Ricky look like shit, fought a good fight and though he boxed more then pack peddle giving some good shots and getting in some killer combos. Great win for Floyd. Never thought I would see Mayweather being humble again.
I resent that 154 comment.
Pernell had a hell of a time at 154, Floyd would have the same problem. Maybe not in this era now, but in the 90's. It's a massive gap at that weight.
I'll give you that. Considering fighters from all eras Floyd couldn't hang with some guys at 154. But in that argument Floyd has to be considered a 130 or 135 pounder. I was talking within the last 5 or so years.
I can't see anyone dominating Floyd. I concur with your assesment that Forrest would beat him though.
really???????
i even got floyd on that one close fight thow
Forrest at 147 would of dominated him.
Nobody would dominate him. Forrest would've been a tough fight, but Floyd would make for a close fight with any fighter 154 or below.
