There's no ESPN in Canada for Wlad to watch.

Worked for me... I missed the fight as I was watching Alcine Vs. Santos, but I did get there just in time to see the corner call off the fight... THX for the Link man...
Johnny Blayzz
In Canada it's on SRC (French CBC) and on the net at www.gymboxe.tv at 9 pm ET, for sure... It's for Alcine's WBA Belt actually, and this could very well be a damn good fight...
Just thought being that Troy Ross is now officially on this season of The Contender, I would re-pose this question only a bit differently... Will Troy win this whole thing??? I said from day 1, Oh and a hell ya!!!
The Canadian cruiserweight who impresses me is our local guy Kevin Reynolds (10-1, his one loss is a MD to a home fighter in Alberta). I just watched him from ringside last week. He has a good chin, some power, and boxing skills.
I was thinking if he was on The Contender, he would have a good chance of winning.
Kevin Reynolds eh... I haven't seen him fight yet, but being that I am from Toronto myself, (and the fact that I write for Fightnews Canada doesn't hurt) I'm sure I'll be hearing a lot more about your boy in the near future... I know he recently won on the undercard of Big Ray Vs Andreesen, and I've seen on his record that he defeated the current Canadian Cruiserweight Champ in '07 though he also does have a loss against former Champ Ryan Henney (both of whom btw are not even close to Troy's level)... But I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for him in the future and hopefully I can see him in action myself soon... It'd would be great for boxing over here in Canada if we had more World Class prospects, so all the best to Reynolds, though that obviously goes with-out saying...
he's nothin special. dude is 33 LOL. been a pro for 8 years now and never got a title shot.
True Troy is 33 years old, but the man has had a hell of a time staying active, and not because he doesn't want to fight... That's one of the great things about The Contender; guys that have had a hard time, just like this devestating southpaw, when it comes to getting people to sign on the dotted line (and then show up), get a chance to really get some serious exposure! The man has been very successful in other areas as well (acting and his own clothing line) but if he wins this tournament, I expect Troy to get that title shot a hell of a lot quicker than he would have otherwise!
I was somewhat impressed with Big Ray, he has a world-class jab. Sadly, he also seems to get tired after throwing a few punches. I think if he was younger than 38, with some improvement, he might become a real contender.
Myself and my old trainer both said we would have absolutely loved to have Big Ray in camp with us a few years ago because he truly has just about all the physical attributes required to be a Heavyweight Champ in the modern era!!! Big Ray is also a great guy personality wise, and I was extremely happy to see him rebound with a Big WIN after being upset at Rama on the Molitor Vs Caballero undercard... Big Ray still has some rounds left in him though, and I definitely ain't saying his carrer is nearly over by any means... I'd rather let him tell me that when he feels the time is right... Until then i only wish for the best for the Big Man!!!
It's the perfect Division for "The Contender" Series, IMO...
There is a tonne of relatively unknown talent at 200lbs, you will undoubtedly see more KO's, and I like the fact that this season will be in Singapore and featuring International "Contenders"...
I believe this could be a phenomenal experience for many other talented guys like Troy Ross who are sitting on the brink of making a splash in the Pro Boxing rankings... and a huge chance for the likes of the already named prospects to get a shot at a payday in a division not really known to have super-sized purses... Personally, I can't wait to see who's going to officially be in this season's tournament...

My TOP 10 P4P Boxers...
1. Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao
2. Miguel Cotto
3. J M Marquez
4. Joe Calzaghe
5. Kelly Pavlik
6. B Hop
7. Winky Wright
8. Israel Vasquez
9. Rafael Marquez
10. Ricky Hatton
Welter for me, but I'm a bit biased... None the less, 147 is where extreme speed meets extreme power... Lightweight though is quickly establishing itself as the division to keep a close eye on...
My advice is keep watching... I know I will be... My dog Troy Ross (who I haven't spoken to yet since he returned from Singapore I should add) always comes to fight and shows up in great shape... The Ding-a-Ling Man's fans best to watch out, because even though I really like Wilson (though I haven't met him in person) I have cheered for him on ESPN a few times already, and the man truly is a very exciting fighter to watch, the Episode following the A.k. Vs Vega fight (in which I agree the last round was one of, if not, the best single round of all The Contender fights to date and was far more entertaining than anything I've seen on The Ultimate Fighter to date either which I also watch on a regular basis); Troy Amos Ross mentions he may call Darnell's number to toe the line! Troy Ross ain't there to play games either lemme tell ya... So if that fight does indeed happen (which I can't say for sure either way but I really hope it turns out that way) then you can expect pure fireworks from Troy... You can "Mark My Words" on that!!!
Regardless of who Ross fights though, at any time during this tournament, you can expect an extremely exciting fight... No Doubt!
I really like this season so far, and I haven't missed an episode of The Contender all the way back to when Gomez faught Manfredo the 1st time... I also like the fact that they've completely eliminated the competitions before these fights, and show no signs of ressurecting that concept... I mean, why tire 'em out before they get in the ring??? Regardless it's a great show impo, and like I said, i won't be missing a single Episode... No Doubt

THE COUNTER REPLY:
I hope your fucking house burns down with you in it.
Laughing as I wipe the tears... That was just too funny...
where's your world championship belts???????????? that's right, you dont have any.
Like you have any championships at all... LMMFAO
How many years you been involved in boxing?
How many fight cards have you helped to promote?
How many volunteer hours have you put in a gym teaching boxing?
I'll just rest your case for you...
:owned:
Prime Tyson with the option to switch looks without losing his stats kinda like different outfits in streetfighter... Also Prime George Foreman big fro ad all, now thats a battle of power I'd love to have seen in real life about as bad as the all time talked about classic Tyson Vs. Ali match-up... Lennox will probably offset Tyson nicely though with his height and reach and it'll be interesting to see how these new styles translate in the virtual ring... I like that Tyson Vs. Lewis Super Fight (that never happened in their prime unfortunately) and the Prime Foreman Vs.Tyson dream match-up even better than the Ali Vs. Frazier one from FNR3...
This one..

LMMFAO... I just noticed the Mr. Chow sign in the background.... Ya gotta love irony...
That would be too much work...
You need to put subtitles in order to understand them.
And probably a whole lotta *$@#'n stuff like that... LMAO... But it beats having the Burger King guy...
LMAO at Oscar.... Any one who has a background in ancient history knows that "Satan" or "Set" is a bloody fairy tale that predates Judaism let alone Christianity... Not to be confused with God who definitely is no joke. However I'm not on here to try and educate Oscar or his followers about reality, but really, does De La Hoya really think he'd be punished by a higher power for wearing a shirt with a skull on it? Did he really say something to that effect? I've been a big De La Hoya fan for many years, but didn't God put a skull in each of our heads... lmmfao... On the flip side though, if you consider a fake heart shirt, now that is pretty and acceptable... People make me laugh... I like the heroes and demon stuff as well, and there's a dragon long sleeved shirt that is absolutely awesome. They're selling fuckin' t-shirts and jeans and stuff like that after all, not guns and knives... Smart move though for Dana White to ban affliction clothing from advertising all over the UFC if they have aspirations of putting together their own MMA label... The guy makes a lot of business $en$e...
All the Legends would be awesome, but so would adding in real trainers to work the corners etc... I'd totally love to have have Roger or Floyd Mayweather senior yelling at me between rounds, and ain't no one thought of that angle yet...
Them shits look hot.
Im cool with it. I don't believe in god anyways so its cool.
No personal offence meant here; but ya gotta love when mind readers dispute the existence of God... And then the look on their faces when I drop verbal bombs and these guys can't figure out how I can get away with talking like that; man the stunned look and the dropped jaw syndrome always makes me laugh.. This isn't a religious forum, and hell, I'm not religious, but come on now, how's anyone gonna follow the rules and then claim they don't exist... Then again what choice do you have... Again nothing personal, I just always get a kick outta that kinda mentality... OK enough of that from me, lets talk boxing...
I think Margarito is under rated by most casual fans who really don't understand what this man brings to the table as a fighter... You guys are bang on in the sense that Antonio is a pressure fighter. He throws a lot of punches in bunches and mixes in a lot of bombs. But when you see a guy counter a two punch combo by moving forward like there's no resistance what so ever, launching four punches of his own while appearing to be as indestructible as freakin' Ironman (considering he does get hit, but he never really shows it), you definitely better not underestimate the power or the will of that kinda opponent. Especially in the later rounds... He digs to the body with real power and technically is actually a very sound boxer for the style he's created. His punches can come from all kinds of angles and though I like Cotto to win this fight, this is by far the best test for my man Miguel to date... I'm not betting on this fight as Margarito freaks me out that much, and I really want to see him do well, but this time against Cotto I won't be behind my carnale Tony Margarito 100% as I usually am. I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy this show... This one has fight of the year potential written all over it...
I dunno, Rampage Jackson has had no problems... The Peterson brothers (Lamont and Anthony) have also had no problems... And that list goes on and on... Personally I think it's a matter of taste, if you don;t like it don't buy it... The Everlast Boxing shoes though... There's some gear worth talking about.. I hope Everlast and Goodyear have some kind of patent arrangement because boxing really is just the tip of the iceberg for those beauties... Anyone else watching the NBA Play Offs??? That kinda grip on a slick or wet surface sure would come in handy ;)
I'd say Cotto deserves to make the list after watching what he did to Gomez... In recent memory I can't remember a title fight (under middleweight) that was so one sided on every single skill factor involved... If there was ever a fight where a mercy rule (outside of an obvious TKO) would be acceptable, that fight was it. That doctor couldn't wait to get Gomez outta that ring... Not that Gomez is at the very elite level yet, but he impressively retired Gatti, then easily dealt with Ben Takie bumping him somewhere near the top 10, only to be completely annihilated by a man that looks like Baraka from Mortal Kombat...

Syd "the Jewel" Vanderpool, is a very good friend of mine... The man is an absolute gentleman and a true class act. Although the days of stepping between the ropes himself to take on all challengers are over for Syd; boxing is a family business for the Vanderpools, and they are still going strong.
Syd's older brother Fitz "The Whip" Vanderpool was a very accomplished pro boxer himself, and both brothers actively run their own boxing gyms in Ontario, Canada. Fitz at the Whip Boxing Academy under Boxing Ontario and Syd at his Destiny Boxing Centre under the Ontario Amateur Boxing Association. There are even more Vanderpool brothers who are also involved with boxing, working as trainers with Syd, and together they are successfully running their own Youth Development Programs and Athlete Development Programs alongside Boxing (of course) out of Syd's Destiny Centre.
"The Jewel" really has proven to be a jewel in his community, and even though what Syd has done for his community in and of itself is more than most people ever accomplish; I do have to say, Syd Vanderpool in all reality was sooooo close to adding an IBF Super-Middleweight Championship to his resume of accolades before being stopped in a fight he was without a doubt winning. Lets not forget the very poor officiating that assisted in "Left Hook" Lacy's victory in that fight as well. A very blatant low blow along with a number of other fouls definitely contributed to Syd losing that fight. These aren't the kind of tactics a Champion resorts to when he/she believes that they are winning a bout, but rather the tactics a boxer may utilize when they are either losing, or in some sort of trouble in the fight. Though I do agree that if Syd had of relaxed and boxed more in the latter rounds he very easily could have won his World Title; you also gotta remember that being a foreign and relatively unknown fighter in a Championship contest (especially against a favored American in Las Vegas) that goes to the score cards, is usually not a good thing. Syd tried to push himself beyond his own limitations knowing that he had to get a K.O. or completely dominate to secure himself the victory... Unfortunately for Syd "The Jewel" Vanderpool that's not what ending up happening... That's boxing, you never know... But give Syd his due, he has never made any excuses nor has he whined and complained about fouls in the ring. He just kept on keepin' on. That's just the kinda guy Syd Vanderpool is...
One more interesting point about Syd Vanderpool outside of what he has accomplished in the ring is regarding his documentary film titled "THE ROAD". Syd's movie which premiered at the Canadian Filmmakers Festival in 2007 and won the People's Choice award, follows Syd for 5 years on his journey towards a shot at a World Boxing Championship and "THE ROAD" has received some seriously rave reviews. I know Syd has been very busy working on a multitude of projects for a while now and last time we talked which was only weeks ago, "THE ROAD" had not yet been signed to any distribution rights...

There's a couple of articles that actually mention how hard it was to get this card off the ground in Ontario, Canada; and with the double bubble and all the BS promoters actually face in Ontario (and apparently only in Ontario) it's nearly freakin' impossible sometimes...
