SRL did not wear a jockstrap wiseguy. Sugar Ray and I have actually had several detailed discussions about the merits of not using a jockstrap. If you had ever been in the ring, like Ray and I, you would know that a protective cup worn over a pair of boxer shorts is less constricting than wearing a jockstrap and a protective cup.

I see it didn't effect your sense of fashion though doctor, what field do you specialise in?
I'm a doctor of all fields and sciences if you must know...
Question for Panter2000: Is Miranda going to fight in the interim before the Pascal fight in June? It just seems like such a long time to schedule a fight….
Miranda is a very intriguing fighter because of his style and life story. He had a horrible childhood but was able to overcome adversity to become an exciting young mw contender….
yeah, he needs to bring him along and get experience if he wants the kid to get a shot and have a chance! he needs to fight a top 10ish guy so he can be gauged against a more skilled boxer! it would be ashame to put him against pavlik, or abraham and have him get a beating! it could have ill effects on his future, and would be ashame for he may never recover!
I agree completely; why rush him in with two of the hardest hitting mw's before he has the ring experience? I think that's why Stewart wants a credible yet not so dangerous opponent like Eastman. Actually, Eastman is kind of a trial horse for mw prospects; he's faced Duddy, Miranda, and Abraham...
The reason they have to wait is because Vitali wont be ready to fight until the fall. Another thing I want to make public is the real reason why Vitali retired. It was reported that he had suffered an injury in preparing for the fight against Rahman. The injury was actually a punch to the body by up and coming Heavyweight Travis Walker while sparring. Travis hit Vitali in the body knocking Vitali to the canvas so hard he twisted his knee in the process. Of course what happens in the gym stays in the gym. "Injury" ha ha what a joke.. the only thing that was injured was his pride and ribs.
I read a report here yesterday with Vitali stating "it would take him 10 weeks to get into shape." So why would it have to be 6 months from now in the Fall? It's fuckin ridiculous...
They once made Tye Fields toilet paper , but it wouldn't take a shit from nobody!
Tye Fields is the G.O.A.T and he will make a big example of Barrett
Funniest Fields joke I've heard in a while; nice Dorian....:lol1:
Vitali will probably hold everything up by getting injured and if he did get to fight peter he would probably get injured during the fight.
Aren't you a bit too hard on Vitali, Duffgun?
No, Duffgun's assessment is right on point. Vitali has a history of canceling fights due to injuries, case closed...
However, I would propose if a fight with Peter/Maskaev and Vitali were to be made, the number 1 contender should be put on 'stand by' and would take Vitali's place if he were to pull out...
As the article foreshadows, Arthur Abraham Vs. Pavlik would be something to behold. Although Abraham is somewhat untested, other than the Miranda fight, both guys have wins vs. Miranda and what a battle that would be. But lets not get ahead of ourselves, Pavlik has to take care of business with Jermain. As far as Duddy getting a title shot? I love John Duddy and I have been following him for the past 3 years...but lets be honest, Duddy doesn't belong in there with Pavlik. He takes way too many punches.Imagine them being Pavlik's punches? :tapedshut Pavlik by easy KO.
I envision it looking like a Rocky fight, but without Rocky(Duddy) winning..
I don’t expect anything less than a ‘highlight reel’ KO by Sam Peter. Peter’s got to be training his balls off, like he did against James Toney in their rematch, in an effort to avoid what happened to him against Mccline…
Whatever dude. If you don't want to believe the WBC presidents own words then I'm quite sure no evidence is going to convince you that the fights were title eliminators.
Fact is, the WBC is a mess and there are too many people who have been promised title shots.
The winner of Virchis vs Rahman/Gomez will have to wait for their title shot if Vitali decides to fight the winner of Peter/Maskaev and probably fight just another title eliminator against a WBC top ranked opponent.
The WBC should hold an elimination tourney like IBF is doing. Have a 2 or 3 round tournament with the winner facing the incumbent WBC title holder, otherwise fighters will be waiting around indefinitely for a title shot or taking their cases to court…
