Ryan suffered a wicked cut, due to head butt, and was medically DQ'd from the tournament due to only having 6 days to heal before he was scheduled to fight again.
How about a Showtime Super 6 for the young American-based cruiser prospects to settle this debate?
We can have:
Ryan Coyne
BJ Flores
Lateef Kayode
and pick three more.
Will be getting my tickets Friday
There's a presale tomorrow. Inbox me for the promo code and link (I tried to post the link but the site wouldn't let me)
Coyne will likely be back in front of a packed house in St Louis this December...
This is a stay busy fight as he makes his way down to 175lbs with a new trainer; former world heavyweight champion Michael Moorer
This is a great card for Springfield and the OReilly Center will be rocking!
Cotto is a 10 to 1 favorite at the offshore books for good reason.
That said, Mayorga will be in better shape than normal. He's being trained by Al Bonanni who also works with Cloud. If even a fraction of that stamina rubs off on Ricardo then he may have a puncher's chance for 6 rounds instead of four.
This is Bradley posturing for more money from Shaw. How many times have we read about Bradley talking $$$$? And how many times has Devon talked $$$?
HBO wants this fight for Jan 29 and Bradley wants his payday. The fight is gonna happen.
Now for those who are downplaying Alexander's skill...well....even Bradley admitted that Devon had an "off night" on 8/7. Bradley knows that's not the fighter he'll get Jan 29.
Devon had an off night and never had his usual snap from the first bell. Think about it. He sat in his locker room and watched his former mentor get destroyed on the TV. He had to headline his first show and was running all over the STL doing various promotional appearances. Those issues would affect any 23 year old kid who had his first true shot at the big show. Devon showed the heart of a champion by digging deep and gutting out a win vs one of the most rugged 140'lbrs out there.
Go ahead and write off Devon. That's cool with me as I'll be the one at the betting window getting that fat + money from all the dead money you naysayers will be posting.
Bull**** they made Engel pay Dirrell's camp money for not making weight when it wasn't his fault since he was called up last second. What kind of criminal **** is that? Disgusting crap in boxing. He clearly tried to make weight he went from 195/197 down to like 175.
Dude was weight drained and they still fined him. I don't know who's responsible for the fine espn or dirrell's camp but whoever's fault it is I hope they die a painful death. Because thats not cool at all.
While it's pretty $hitty that Engle got fined, the fault lies with his promoter/manager for agreeing to the contracted weight of 168 when they should've known Kevin would never make the weight. Had Engle's management been aware of this fact they could've protected their fighter from taking it in the shorts as well as on the chin.
Makes you wonder why Feder is calling out Coyne to come to Cali. I guess he needs another gift decision to hold in his back pocket.
Mr Feder, I wouldn't expect many legitimate opponents to come to your playground where it's clear you're calling all the shots.
You want to fight Coyne? There should be a shot this Summer when another mega HBO show comes to St Louis. No questionable judging here due to the honorable Tim Lueckenhoff, head of the Association of Boxing Commissions runs all the Missouri judges.
Coyne asked for the fight vs Kayode on the undercard of Alexander/Bradley but when the moved the show from St Louis to Pontiac, someone decided to pull both of them off that card.
Guillermo Jones, WBA Cruiserweight champion, is scheduled to defend on November 5th at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL.
I guess we need an interim champion for those 24 hours between bouts?
That was the worst robbery I have ever seen. Kotelnik is the REAL WBC/IBF Light Welterweight champion of the world.
Worst robbery you've ever seen? Really?
If you gets internets in Ukraine, you might want to YouTube DeLaHoya/Sturm.
Herrera won a 6 round decision.
It was off tv and after the main event.
Probably 200 people in the crowd total when that fight happened.
I think more people were in line for Teddy Atlas' autograph than were watching the fight.
It was decent though. Herrera kept coming, Chatman caught him sometimes coming in, but Herrera controlled the fight.
Thanks for the report.
