I'd love to see Zags take on Dawson as his REAL final fight in let's say Cardiff.. but I'm not sure that even at Calzaghe's very high skill level, that he wants a fight that difficult to cap off his career. If he went out on a win over Dawson it would be tremendous, but I think there's way too much of a legacy at stake to go out on a loss to Chad.
Somehow I doubt Joe C would purposely choose his last fight so far from home, against a fighter that while once great does not really improve his chances to be P4P #1.
Now if Pacquiao loses to DLH, is that enough to put Joe #1?
If so, it's possible this was the double end of an era...
but I've got money on another fight back home.
Poll now added.
I personally would love to see 2 fights on the same card in early 2009 with:
Hopkins vs Kessler
Dawson vs Johnson II
Then the winners of both fights to meet in Summer 2009, then after that if Joe is willing to fight again then he could fight the winner in a super fight at the end of 2009/early 2010.
Brilliant and I totally agree.
While I'm impressed with Floyd's resume and his defensive prowess, I personally find RJJ to be greater to me.
Perhaps its because I saw RJ fight more, downright embarassing people. Now Floyd did this as well, but there was something in the natural talent of Jones I found truly captivating. Not to mention his rise from middle all the way to heavy and back down in between. Roy was one of the first people that really got me into boxing...
It's like Tessitore says in FN3:
it's not roy's fault about lack of thrill from opponents
he was just too damn good for his own good.
I've got much fonder memories.
It's a dream for Manny
Nothing to lose, everything to gain.
DLH can only look like a bully or a complete fool,
he'll get no cred for the win.
if by dream,
you mean money for the promoters/fighters
sure.
Will it actually be a good fight? I damn well hope so.
I think it's ridiculous for pure fans, but brilliant for swaying borderline fans in and garnering some new blood as far as fight enthusiasts go.
Cotto is shooting heroin with Vince Young in a dingy Nashville hotel room right now.
There's a lot of smack he can get in before he gets his ass kicked (again) in June...
If Margarito didn't drop from the bombs Cotto threw in that first fight,
I doubt he will again.
This will be a hell of a fight and one of the few I'd shell out a lot to see, but with the iron chin of Marg, Cotto's tech will have to make it the full 12, in which case he might land the cards.
KO 9, Margarito
really looking forward to Margarito-Clottey rematch as well if it happens.
