This exercise in stupidity makes absolutely no sense. Warren is using some sort of Chewbacca defense, or maybe he's running his mouth just to stay in the public's eye. Just look at his premises and the conclusion he makes:
1. Ref made the call about the cut.
2. Instant replay (VAR) showed that the ref was wrong and the comision corrected his call.
Conclusion: Therefore, VAR should not be allowed in boxing.
Can anybody see any sense in his idiocy?
People often call Joyce a robot, mocking his lack of speed and lack of fluidity. But tonight that nickname was very correct in a different way. No wonder that a young and inexperienced Dubois panicked. Imagine throwing your big shots, confident that they will blast the opponent away, as was the case many times before, but then that huge, emotionless thing keeps lumbering at you, unfazed, and keeps hitting you methodically in the same spot, until half of your face is disfigured. This really was an example of grinding someone down.
I don't thing that Joyce is great, but that kind of strength and durability, combined with lots of experience and solid skills should not be written off lightly.
One thing not mentioned is that Hrgovic's ring walk song was sung by nazi-glorifying singer Marko Perkovic Thompson, and that this oaf dedicated the fight to Perkovic. Birds of a feather, it seems.
I'm getting really sick of the way Boxingscene articles are written. Despite the title being "Hearn Wants Whyte-Povetkin II To Happen in Late November, Explains Why" the first two thirds of the article is just copy/paste of some earlier articles which have nothing to do with the title. If the writers really think that it is necessary to give some sort of introduction or context to the news, they can do it in a sentence or two and it will be quite enough. There is no need to have to go through ten paragraphs of copy/paste before you get to the actual thing you want to read about. And that seems to be the case for 90% of articles here which are artificially lengthened by copy/pasting earlier stuff.
I commented on another article how Wilder slowed down with age not just in boxing, but also in making excuses. Luckily, here comes Shelly to the rescue with the excuse. So, after gloves and costume, Crylder has a new arch enemy - the cryochamber.
Kell Brook's fight is a "super lightweight" match? I guess that's what happens when you can't decide whether you want to call it super welterweight or light middleweight...
It's documented that Bivol is Mus leem... But you can tell by how humble he is. So called Christy anns are never humble, and talk way too much about absolutely nothing
So, in other words, you have no source for your claim and nothing is "documented". Just as I thought.
Fury may be "very philosophical" but Usyk is very feel.
Also, not sure if that was the intention, but the phrasing at the beginning of the article states matter-of-factly that Fury was winning the fight until the 9th round, as if that is a general consensus, which is definitely not the case.
This is great, one of the biggest sleazebags in boxing is giving out lectures on morality. Does he really believe that someone will take him seriously, or is he just an old troll?
It's good to see all the preemptive cries of robbery.
Seriously, even if Gassiev knocked Usyk out of the ring and sent him flying into the parking lot there would still be people who would claim that it was due to the corrupt judges.
As boxers, I like both fighters, but I like Gassiev (or at least his persona) far more. Respectful and humble, feet firmly on the ground. As his career progresses, Usyk, to me, comes across more and more as a c*cky a-hole who considers himself some sort of a boxing legend. Maybe he will prove it some day, but he still has a lot of milk to drink until then.
Second day weigh in exists for a reason. For me, there is nothing "manly" about beating someone when you have a sizeable weight advantage. Also, proving your "manliness" by beating someone?
And in spite of all that Jacobs didn't beat Golovkin. And he got laid on his butt in the process of losing the fight. Golovkin has no needs to make up excuses for the Jacobs fight. He won. It is Jacobs who is making excuses.
And Canelo's special tretment is "imagined"? If you say so.
So, it's delayed. Again. I've said it several times since the whole hype started that I'll believe that the fight is happening when they are both in the ring and the bell for the start of round one sounds. I don't know and don't care if the injury is real or not and if real whether it was accidental or not. It would be nice if the fight happens eventually, but right now it seems that it won't. It was "marinated" straight into rot.
Povetkin looked absolutely terrible. As many have already said, it seems like there was something really wrong with him. It seems to me that, other than father time and covid, his big problem is that he doesn't really have a trainer. I could be wrong, but I think that Igor Nesterov is not a real trainer, he's just a guy from Povetkin's entourage who landed a sweet job he knows nothing about. It looks like he has neither the knowledge nor the authority to tell Povetkin what to do or how to fight. Don't know where Ivan Kirpa is, but it's obvious that he is sorely missed.
That knockout was brutal, and after the fight Povetkin's reaction was just "business as usual". He is old, but he is skilled and still has enough power and the killer instinct.
The worst part of the fight was the commentary. British commentators are the worst and the most biased that I have ever heard. It was painful to listen to their circlej*rk and praises to Whyte but it was so satisfactory to hear them come with nothing but "I am at a loss for words" after the knockout. They were drooling after the knockdowns, although during the break between rounds 4 and 5 Povetkin told his corner that he was not hurt and you could see that he was ok. Then comes round 5 and BAM!
On a side note, that reporter chick has some fine legs. And that wind blowing was nice, too.
So the "done deal" fight is anything but. I said when that fight was "announced" that it is waaaay to early to get excited about it. Now even more it seems that the fight may never happen. I'm really not looking forward to Fury's next social media crapfest. He threatened to sue Usyk if the fight doesn't happen on 23rd, so what now? He also said that 8 weeks was enough for Joshua to get ready to fight him. Does he apply the same standards to himself? I don't care if he is the best heavyweight of this era; I don't care if he is the best heavyweight of all times, he is a piece of sh-t as a person and seems to be doing most of his battles on social media these days. Not that I am thrilled with Usyk's team either.
I still have this pipe dream that we will some day get a heavyweight champion who really is a sportsman in that old fashioned sense...
Nice matchup, but what's with that "interim" and "regular" titles crap again? Didn't they say that they are discontinuing that nonsense, and then they start it all over again?
The issues are that Team Usyk demands security also for Ukrainian fans in Moscow + a standard ring size 5m x 5m instead of 3.5m x 3.5m (illegal) like the Russian side proposing it. These issues must be solved until Monday or the fight won't happen ! As of now the FIGHT will NOT HAPPEN !
Any source/proof for that claims? Everything I've read so far has been nothing but "no you didn't-yes we did", with fans automatically accepting their side's "truth" and dismissing the other side's "lies".
