Out of respect no one is gonna touch those dates. Mayweather is the biggest name in boxing. He has first option on those dates no network or promoter will go up against Floyd you seen what happened when the UFC tried.

If they do put Cotto/Canelo on Cinco de Mayo next year Floyd would have to budge. I don't think he'd try to compete with that. The only fight that would outsell that fight would be a fight with Pacquiao, and that's probably not happening.
If he does stick to his guns and fights on that weekend he might do less than 300K buys, and that's being on the generous side. Actually I'm kinda hoping this scenario plays out. I'm more than interested in seeing how significant his drawing power is when the circumstances aren't in his favor.

I made this thread last week, and from what I was told by someone from Shane Mosley camp today while his two sons were training, if Mayweather don't do good numbers in September, Showtime will force him to revise his contract or force him to fight Manny in May to regain revenue lost in the contract. Or Showtime will reserve the May date for Cotto vs Alvarez. HBO may get involve (I.e. Tyson vs Lewis). These are all rumors going around the gym.

um, yes. Thats what I am telling you. Even if you were right (which you arent), they still wont do it because Floyd will take so many buys away from them. These guys want all there money. Why let the biggest name in sport cut that much into your profit when you can do it another time?

What I am saying, if the network HAD TO PICK ONE, I really believe they would pick Cotto vs Alvarez for may 5th over any Floyd vs who ever. Showtime lost a ton on money with Floyd vs Gurerro and Floyd vs Maidana because it did under 1mil buys. In order for showtime to make a profit off Floyd contract, Floyd HAS to pull in at least 1.25 mil a fight.
Your missing the point it wouldn't matter who out sells who. The fight want reach it's full potential from a money stand point going up against a Mayweather fight the same with Mayweather going up against Chavez froch or Canelo Cotto. These ppl wanna make money for sure money. When you get names this big you will wait to have your own night and capitalize. A Cotto Canelo fight may 12th does way more money than a May 5th fight up against Mayweather you know what I mean? From a business stand point they want do it.

They hurt themselves in the process so instead of getting a million plus buys two fight in networks split 1.5-1.8 million buys respectively it doesn't matter which sells better they will split all revenue not to mention the usual networks like Espn and such would also capitalize on ads and ad placement you will make loyal beer sponsors pick sides it will be a cluster **** and the guys at the top wouldn't wanna deal with it.
The networks could force Floyd to another date because a Cotto vs Canelo would be more lucrative
Canelo vs Cotto wouldn't outsell anything Floyd would do; for one they can't charge what Floyd charges for tickets so right there they have been beaten at the live gate. By all accounts Floyd vs Maidana would have sold more than Canelo vs Angulo & Cotto vs Martinez combined. Like I said it would stupid to that anyways. They can fight on the Puerto Rican parade in June and make a lot more money than going head to head.

Floyd is the All Time PPV leader. Canelo has had one PPV outside of Floyd and it did 350,000 buys. Cotto already admits he is the b side to Floyd and has never had a mega PPV outside of Floyd or Pac. Floyd meanwhile has 850,000 and everyone laughs at him. Cotto or Canelo would give there left nut to get 850,000. Cotto just made 7mil against Sergio. Floyd is guaranteed 32 mil every fight and was just #1 on Forbes for the highest grossing athlete by a mile. Hell yes Floyd vs whoever outsells them. He just had a tough fight vs Maidana. I dont like Bhop, I just wish he fought like he talks. If you watch his fights its always about the other fighter, if Bhop was Fighting Bhop you could market it as a Sleeping Aid.
