Floyd Mayweather might not fight in MAY?

Damn it's crazy how that one guy called Lara whooping canelo and getting robbed lol on point! And yes OP you are correct, unless Floyd does something ballsy like fight pac, a bigger guy like ggg, or rematch Nelo or cotto, which I doubt he'll do any of those, he's going to run into cotto vs Nelo and he's gonna lose...

I made this thread back in June. I saw this coming the moment Canelo defeated Lara and Cotto defeating Martinez.

It's almost July and we're still not hearing anything from Money Mayweather, who is supposed to fight in September. Anything? There isn't a Latin fighter fresh off of winning a title for Floyd to fight and sell his fight on a Latin Holiday.That's Floyd's MO. He rides hot Latin champs to sell his PPV. With no Latin fighter to fight Floyd the PPV King is exposed.

No khan No manny No Garcia No cotto No porter Just leaves Maidana rematch and no one seems to be in a rush to sign it Last year there was a huge delay in announcing the ghost fight, but a lot of that had to do with the signing of the showtime deal.. This time around their is no major deal to iron out, so I find it very suspicious that nearly 2 months out they don't have a Floyd opponent. True but there wasn't a huge delay in announcing the Canelo fight for September right after. They announced that fight right at the end of May 2013 if memory serves correctly. Showtime knew it had a big time event on its hands and wasted no time getting the hype started. Since Floyd has signed with Showtime the fights that took a long time to announce have been the underachievers. Showtime knows even a Maidana rematch wouldn't be that big of a fight.

But on a serious note if that was to happen. I see Floyd trying to move to Fourth of July weekend or something like that if they really were pursuing a May 5th date. It will be a lot of grandstanding but it's supply and demand and who ever has the best product would win out. Theres no such thing as fourth of July boxing, in fact, come to think of it Floyd doesnt associate with anything. Cinco de Mayo boxing is Oscar's or any of the rising Mexican boxing stars . Floyd did made good on Mays only because he smartly inserted himself to it by fighting hispanics. Cotto owns you know what, the only thing Floyd can be aSSociated with is his tweets/tweeter or WWE maybe. If they do put Cotto/Canelo on Cinco de Mayo next year Floyd would have to budge. I don't think he'd try to compete with that. The only fight that would outsell that fight would be a fight with Pacquiao, and that's probably not happening. If he does stick to his guns and fights on that weekend he might do less than 300K buys, and that's being on the generous side. Actually I'm kinda hoping this scenario plays out. um, yes. Thats what I am telling you. Even if you were right (which you arent), they still wont do it because Floyd will take so many buys away from them. These guys want all there money. Why let the biggest name in sport cut that much into your profit when you can do it another time? Its people like you that will be excited if Cotto-Canelo did 700,000 while Floyd-Maidana did 600,000 but all GBP or Arum would be thinking is that they couldve sold over a mil if they didnt go head up with Floyd. Showtime & GBP were screaming success with Canelo doing 350 vs Angulo so you know they would be upset if Floyd took 350 away from them But the main question what would Showtime prefer to do? They aren't going to front Floyd's guarantee if Canelo wants to fight the same night. Golden Boy has dibs on both dates in September and next May already locked up (confirmed by Shaefer before the Maidana fight) so Floyd would also have to fight in a different venue in Vegas or go to Barclays. If Cotto/Canelo want to fight in May Floyd will not have a choice but to fight a different day if Showtime doesn't want to play ball. Espinoza is still ODL guy.

Golden Boy has first dibs on those dates with the MGM. If Floyd doesn't want to work with Oscar, which is entirely his right, there is no way ODL gives up that Cinco de Drinko date when he has the #1 Mexican draw in the sport. Even if its not against Cotto Canelo draws just as much hype as Floyd/Khan, Floyd/Garcia, Floyd/Maidana II or whatever other Haymon fighter they think they can put in with BDE.

I made this thread last week, and from what I was told by someone from Shane Mosley camp today while his two sons were training, if Mayweather don't do good numbers in September, Showtime will force him to revise his contract or force him to fight Manny in May to regain revenue lost in the contract. Or Showtime will reserve the May date for Cotto vs Alvarez. HBO may get involve (I.e. Tyson vs Lewis). These are all rumors going around the gym. This would be more believable if not for the fact Floyd's sales of ppvs have been over 4 mil since he got to Showtime. Since no other fighter other than Tyson 96 had a 12 month total this high, it's highly unlikely they would drop him. Floyd might not be doing a mil a fight, but he is still far ahead of #2.

Unfortunately, Lara will box Canelos ass off, win 8-4 and get robbed on the official cards. He (Lara) will get a KD as well and STILL lose the card!!! Fraudanelo will win not matter what if it goes to the cards. The ONLY way Lara wins is via KO.

Your missing the point it wouldn't matter who out sells who. The fight want reach it's full potential from a money stand point going up against a Mayweather fight the same with Mayweather going up against Chavez froch or Canelo Cotto. These ppl wanna make money for sure money. When you get names this big you will wait to have your own night and capitalize. A Cotto Canelo fight may 12th does way more money than a May 5th fight up against Mayweather you know what I mean? From a business stand point they want do it. lol someone sounds scared and doesn't want it to happen.
