How much of a role does looking good play in a fighter's career?
The reason I ask is because almost every single time that Oscar's career is put into perspective, his "handsome, movie star looks" are always mentioned.
Discuss.
(no homo)
Oscar's Good Looking Compared To Other Boxers.
But He's Still Just Average.
well atleast you believe something that Wlad doesn't. If wlad believed he was going to beat Haye, he wouldn't have even asked for a single rematch. The bitch asked for 2 lol. that is embarrassing.
Are you Stupid? Wlad Was Just being Smart.
If Wlad Thought He Couldn't Win He wouldn't Have Taken This Fight.
And What's Wrong With Being Prepared For The Worst Case Scenario?
The current issue of The Ring magazine has 21 pages dedicated to live coverage of the upcoming fight between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton. One of the features has 20 experts predicting the winner of the fight and 17 have picked Pacquiao. The three experts who have selected Hatton are Steve Bunch (television commentator) by late-round stoppage; Mark Collings (Esquire UK) mid- to late-round stoppage and Stuart Brennan (Manchester Evening News), possibly late-round stoppage.
Interestingly, two men who have fought Hatton -- Paulie Malignaggi and Luis Collazo -- both pick Pacquiao to win. And David Diaz, who fought Pac Man, also picks Manny by TKO.
Some Of Us Here On Boxingscene Could Be Considered "Experts" Just as Much As Any Of Them.
What a f**king bellend that guy is.
This Is One Of The Worst Things He Could Do.
If He wants To Earn Respect And Be Known As "The Best Trainer". This is Not The Way To Go about It.
I Never Thought Size Had Much To Do With It. Look At The Lower Weights, Most Of Those Weight Classes Are Separated By About 4Lbs. And Then A Fighter Can Barely Weight 200Lbs And Take On A 7 Foot Giant That Is 333 Lbs.
I Always Thought That Was A Little Dumb. Too Many Weightclasses, Too Many Guys Who Shouldn't Be Called A "Champ".
The Best Would Fight The Best If They Wouldn't Have The Option Of Holding On To One Of Four Belts And Get Away With Fighting A Joke Every 12 Months And Still Have People Who Dont Know Any Better Call Them "Champ".
There Needs To Be One Champion Per Weight Class.
That's Just What I Think.

Robert Salters Beat Riddick Bowe in the 88 Trails, I've got that fight on tape.
He's a traitor to Cuban people and ran away to Germany like a little chicken, where he fell to Western ways and started using drugs, got fat and lazy. It offends me when people call him Cuban, he is Cuban no more.
All the Smart Cuban's got Out Of Cuba about 50 years ago.
So All that's Left on That Giant Prison of an Island is the Weak, Cowardly, And Not so Intelligent.
I'd be Ashamed to be Cuban, Then Agian I never would've Gave up my Country to The Communists.
That Wasn't A "Revolution". All They did was **** Everything Up.
Yeah, Gerald lost to Terry Christianson in 1986 in Iowa, I was there. Then I beat Terry in 1988 at Omaha.
i have that fight on dvd!!! someone with a home video camera taped everything but the decesion. do you still follow amatuer boxing?
You have Christianson-McClellan on tape from 1986?? I gotta' see that one. I have Roy decisioning Victor Levine in the 139 pound finals that same week in Iowa. I follow amateur boxing closely and in my book I have a HUGE chatper that details hundreds of amateur boxing results from years gone by (for example, in the late 1930's Ray Robinson dec. Willie Pep right here in CT). Where did you get Christianson-McClellan??
i will send it to you if you want. i got it about 7 months ago
You googled it, pfft.
no i didnt, i have seen that fight between Bowe and Salters several times. give me my credit. as Rodney Dangerfield would say i never get any respect.
QUEEF
yEAH, I THINK 70 WAS PERFECT FOR ME. A lot of guys have 200 or 300 fights and that is a lot of experience but it is also wear and tear too. The think is I beat guys like Darin Allen, Otis Grant and Terry Christianson who had close to 600 fights between them....once u reach a certain amount of fights and experience you can be as ready as a guy with 200 fights. Over the course of my last 30 or so amateur fights they almost all came in national or international fights so that means a lot. If you want to gain experience then don't worry about picking and choosing fights like they do in the pros..in the amateurs, once you feel like you can REALLY handle yourself, fight anybody you can get a fight with. Actually having the fights is even more important than if u actually win or lose them sometimes
did you see Gerald McCellan VS Terry Christianson?
I am going to travel around the country and fight in tournaments and stuff like that.
NOBODY GETS THIS ONE (The answer is in my book)
What heavyweight champions BROTHER defeated a future heavyweight champions FATHER back in (hint: it was in the last 45 years)
ICE
i have no clue, give another hint
I was 57-13 as an amateur with 12 stoppages. I defeated world amateur champion Darin Allen, future heavyweight contender Melvin Foster, future WBO middleweight champion Otis Grant (when he was #2 in the world), future IBF rated Joey DeGrandis, future WBC #1 Lamar Parks (twice) among others.
I also lost to future #1 ranked pro Joe Lipsey.
MOST amateur records you see are WRONG. It would be hard to find a guy 138-3, etc..... too much comp at the national level...even top flight amateurs have double digit losses. Breland is the only one who had a SPECTACULAR amateur record that I can verify was factual, 110-1. Only loss was early in career to Daryl Anthony, back in 81' before he really made his name
i am going for 60 to 80 amatuer fights then i plan on going pro when i am 20 or 21 or when i think i am ready.
LOL Thanks alot. I am amazed how many people just in the last three days have seen those fights I did with Joe Tess. Apparently ESPN-CLASSIC is a well watched show. I am actually doing a few more fights for them this Monday. I have done about eight Of them so far including Holyfield-Mercer.
what other fights have you done? i will be sure to watch them.
