Amir Khan says "nothing can stop" his fight with Kell Brook as they have agreed a weight 'clause' for the long-awaited British battle in 2019. Promoter Eddie Hearn has been mediating between both teams, with Brook willing to take the fight at 147lbs, and Khan suggests his rival will not pack on more than 10 pounds on the day of the bout. The two fighters had been linked with a potential fight against Manny Pacquiao, which had threatened to derail the domestic clash, but they could be finally edging close to a deal. "Obviously me and Brook are with Eddie Hearn," said Khan. "I've left that to Eddie to do all the negotiations, to speak to both parties, to speak to his trainer, his manager, himself. "But look, it's a fight I would love to have, and I think it would make a lot of money financially for both fighters, but at the same time it would be a massive fight in the UK. Undefeated star Gennady Golovkin will soon move up to super-middleweight to test the waters before making a more permanent move next year, according to renowned trainer Abel Sanchez. Many in the sport have been calling for the middleweight king to compete in a higher weight class for some time now due to a lack of real competition at 160 pounds, although Golovkin is adamant about cleaning up before doing so. Only one title remains out of reach for ‘GGG’ as Billy Joe Saunders continues to elude the hard-hitting Kazakh, whilst the most lucrative contest in the whole of boxing right now would be against Canelo Alvarez. Due to Mexican super-welterweight title holder wanting more time to fill out at middleweight, Golovkin is forced to hang around fulfilling mandatory duties, something Sanchez previously told WBN the 34 year-old is more than willing to do. Eventually, Golovkin will jump up the eight pounds necessary to see how his body reacts, but would then have the option of moving back down again before making the switch permanent in around 2018. ‘GGG’ would then have a further option of competing at light-heavyweight as his body ages into 2020, before Sanchez sees 168 and 175 becoming Golovkin’s home in the twilight years of his career. “I can see him moving up for the right fight at 168 soon, but then moving back down to 160,” Sanchez exclusively told World Boxing News. “I think then in about 18 months, Golovkin will be fighting and staying at 168. Those hoping for a sequel to Vasyl Lomachenko’s close loss to Orlando Salido in 2014 will have to wait after promoter Bob Arum accused Salido of getting cold feet for a rematch. “Orlando Salido chickened out,” Arum told ******.com on Tuesday. “It’s the only way to say it. He asked for crazy money. We agreed to the crazy money. And then he says, ‘No.’ He’d just assume not take the fight. Why? Because he knows he can’t beat (Lomachenko). It was a fluke the first time. So, there’s no other way to paint it. Orlando Salido chickened out of the fight because whatever his demands were, we met those financial demands and then he let us know he’s not interested in the fight.” Sean Gibbons, who manages Salido, laughed off Arum’s comments, saying the negotiations just fell apart and that no one got cold feet. “Using Orlando’s name and chicken in the same sentence — that’s ludicrous,” Gibbons said in a phone interview. “Olando has never chickened out of any fight. We had good talks with Bob. I thought we had come to some kind of an agreement. It just didn’t seem to work. Orlando Salido wants to give the fans the fights they want. If the bout between Gennady Golovkin and Danny Jacobs goes to purse bid on Monday and Al Haymon wins the auction and decides to put the fight on Showtime, that network’s boxing chief Stephen Espinoza said he would try to put the fight on Showtime instead of Showtime PPV. “Ultimately, the decision of whether a fight goes to pay-per-view is really the promoters,” Espinoza told ******.com on Wednesday. “But from our perspective, we would do everything we could, if we were offered the Golovkin-Jacobs fight, we would target that for Showtime. Not that it’s not a really big, exciting fight. But in our eyes, it hasn’t quite matured to the commercial level of a pay-per-view. It’s a really good Showtime fight and we’d try to keep it there for Showtime subscribers to enjoy.” Golovkin, who holds the WBA/WBC/IBF middleweight titles, is contractually bound to HBO; he’s also entitled to a 75-25 split of the winning bid on Monday. There are several schools of thought on whether Golovkin would ever fight on rival Showtime. On the one hand, the winner of the purse bid gets to assign the television rights. While Golovkin is one of HBO’s main staples, he’s not a heavyweight or a fighter of Canelo Alvarez’s popularity — yet. So perhaps letting Golovkin collect a career-high payday to fight on Showtime for one fight wouldn’t be the end of the world for HBO brass. “It’s conceivable he fights on Showtime in 2017 if Haymon wins the purse bid,” said one well-embedded mole. On the other hand, the likelihood of HBO not enforcing its contractual obligations to Golovkin if Haymon wins the purse bid seem remote if it ever gets to that point. It's amazing to me that the same guy who said he would kick me in the ring if he had to, the same guy who said he wanted a street fight, is the same guy calling me a dirty fighter & the same guy crying foul because things didn't go his way. The reality is when a guy likes to fight one way, on the outside, and is very uncomfortable fighting inside, they call you a dirty fighter. It's called inside work!! That's the way I was taught, you have to be able to adapt and have more than one style at the highest level. Outside, Mid Range, and Inside, if your going to survive for a long time in this game. Kov is a good fighter, but has one style. He fought the best fight he could fight and that's the best shape he could possible be in and he got tired!! Last week, I saw an interview where Tom Loeffler looked like he was having fun and I am not sure Eddie Hearn drinks that much but I saw a picture on Twitter of him with his tie round his head and he looked like the Karate Kid, having a good time, cracking jokes, and all of a sudden they pulled me into the conversation about fighting Golovkin. I don't know how they managed that or what they are trying to do, but I know Golovkin is desperate for a big name as he's not really fought anyone to date. I know he's got a win over Kell Brook but, let's be honest, Kell is two weight divisions below him so it was not exactly a fair fight, was it? Honestly, I don't know why there is all this speculation that I am going to fight Golovkin because I've not spoken to Eddie Hearn or Tom Loeffler. I've just seen what everybody else has seen on Twitter and YouTube, but I am amazed they keep bringing my name up. I am nearly 40 years old, I've been retired for two-and-a-half years. I just think they should pick on someone else. Here and now, I'd beat Golovkin. I'm too big for him but it's not happening. Golovkin needs to fight somebody. He's not going to become a Hall of Famer if he doesn't fight anybody. If Golovkin wants to fight the best - and after talking about moving up to somewhere near super-middleweight or even 171-172lbs when my negotiations with him took place over a year ago - I am sure Andre Ward could make that weight. Ward may or may not beat Sergey Kovalev, but I think he does and I am sure he can make it to 12st 2lbs quite easily. That fight would be one of those where they could say 'now Golovkin is fighting someone credible'. If he wants to talk about being the best, then he needs to fight the best. So if Ward beats Kovalev that is a fight I would certainly love to see. I am not sure it would be a 50-50 - simply for the weight reasons - but he was happy to fight someone two weight divisions below him so why not come up one division and fight Ward at super-middleweight or 12st 2lbs? Then he can show how great he is, how unbeatable he is, how hard he punches.
