Miss worded, regardless the fight should not have ended with an Illegal punch. There Is a rule against low blows In boxing
A boxer who is hit with an accidental low blow has up to five minutes to recover. If s/he cannot continue after five minutes, s/he is considered knocked out.
Thats not automatic. That's up the refs discretion and we all saw how that went. AND STILL...
Ref didn't make the correct call. Even most of Wards strongest supporters on this board are not denying that the final punch was low.
Why in that gif does Kovalev grab his balls when very clearly the punch landed higher up? Why was Kovalev complaining of low shots earlier when it's clear those shots were legal. Why was Kovalov bending into an illegal and defenseless position but yet you don't want to call that illegal. The ref deemed the shot to not be severe enough to call over the damage he was receiving.
Yes, Ward was better. That doesn't change the fact that the fight ended because of an Illegal blow.
The fight ended because Kovalev wasn't really defending himself for about a 40 second stretch and went into a submissive position. Not because he got his stomach nuts, punched.
Just joined with three posts and already not a Kova fan... thanks for your opinion.
The fight brought me here. What's wrong with that?
Kovalev has quit in him. That can't be denied.
He has glass balls.
What bent him over into a submissive position? Why was Kovalev complaining to the ref about legit bodyshots? Why was he not able to intelligently defend himself for almost 40 seconds before the stoppage? Why is it you can only provide video of one questionable punch? That last shot didn't lead to his ruin.
Get well.
