I didn't like the racial tension this fight caused. It was hilarious but some people were/are too caught up in it. I can't excuse Kovalev's behavior but he always entertained me...
Ward won. He's pound for pound number one and he's a truly great fighter. Now let's stop being crybaby b*tches and move on....
He needs a break to clear this promotional and camp sh*t up before he fights again. Why the f*ck wouldn't you want to watch him fight again? He's a beast who has proven multiple times he will fight the best.
I made the mistake of commenting on Kovalev before actually seeing the fight. Based on what I had heard and read about the fight I said I was no longer as big a fan of his as I was before. Now that I have seen the fight I don't think Kovalev was treated fairly by the referee. The fight should not have been stopped. The last punches before Weeks stopped the fight were clearly low. Instead of giving Ward a KO win he should have called a low blow and given Kovalev up to 5 minutes to recover. If this had been done it's possible Kovalev could have gone on to win the fight.I had Kovalev well ahead on points at the time the fight ended. I don't blame Ward for this but I do blame Weeks. He fuked up at Kovalev's expense. So I am still as big a Kovalev fan as ever and look forward to his next fight. Just my honest opinion.
G-Dyk is the only Eastern Euro I like. Until the usual crowd jumps on the bandwagon and ruins everything.
I fear this will happen to David Benavidez soon. Not looking forward to it.
Yeah i think those fighters from the Ukraine got some smooth brother in 'em...

I knew you were trolling me you f*cker. Damn.
If Kovalev catches a couple of tune ups he might be able to provide you with some more entertainment but I think he is done at the highest level. Sorry bro. You can come hop on the G-Dyk bandwagon though. We got room over here.

Lol yeah I thought I was being funny. Maybe it wasn't. Definitely don't support the way Kovalev caved like that... But before that fight he provided me with enough entertainment to give him another shot.

I was a long time reader of the forums, and already knew what was up before finally deciding to participate. Had Larry call me an alt three times in my first hour here actually. But no tears shed from me, friend. Isn't this a forum to talk about boxing? Calling blatant fouls for what they are, and discussing them is crying? Damn, when it comes to Ward, not only is he protected by boxing officials, but he has protectors on forums defending his dirty work as well. Good to know.
Could you change the record though? We all get what you're saying. We do.
Kova is going to drop on most lists but not on mine.
For two fights now, he has given the best boxer on the planet all he could handle.
In other words, it took the best from the best to beat Kovalev.
No shame in that, and he remains 1B or 2 on my P4P list.
He has glass balls.
What bent him over into a submissive position? Why was Kovalev complaining to the ref about legit bodyshots? Why was he not able to intelligently defend himself for almost 40 seconds before the stoppage? Why is it you can only provide video of one questionable punch? That last shot didn't lead to his ruin.
There was no option for a standing 8. One strayed low but it was not changing the fact that Kovalev was DONE. I just watched the last round for the 5th time and Kovalev was not only getting his ass kicked, but he refused to fight at that point. Ward even let off him for a moment and Kovalev showed no signs of fighting back. Weeks did what he thought needed to be done. Don't forget, he's 3ft away, looking him in the eye.
Also, implying Ward intentionally threw low shows lack of knowledge. When Kovalev wasn't guarding, Ward nailed the target. When a guy bends over and covers up, it's extremely hard to land cleanly on the area he's protecting. People need to come to terms. Seriously.
But I heard the same things from the other side of boxing scene in Mayweather vs Maidana. Floyd was ducking his head to the point where he was bringing the rabbit punches on himself just so he could cover his chin. Beyond that though Kovalev and Ward are world class fighters, both with a record substantiating that. We've all seen brutal knockdowns and power punches landed to where we'd all be like how the f*ck is this guy going to make it out of this round alive? For instance going back to Maidana vs Khan, he was hit with a brutal shot to the liver. He was out on his back in agony, somehow beat the count and then just ate everything Khan had recovering for the next few rounds. Maidana would take a few rounds off, like how he'd just drop his hands adjusting his trunks constantly while being attacked. Looking at Maidanas eyes it was obvious to me he was in extreme pain and didn't want to get up from that initial KD, but at the same time I wouldn't expect the ref to just insert himself to say he's finished for tonight. At least not at that level.
If this stoppage sets the bar for when a fight is perceived to be stopped then it would rewrite the history of boxing.
i think everyone on here who posts on the regular is gonna watch everything thats televised or streamed. am i gonna watch ward, hell yeah. am i gonna watch sam hill come out of retirement to fight the next hype, yessss.
most of us eat, sleep, breathe, and eat boxing whether or not it fits our social agenda because i think most of us are HARDCORE fans.
So, you support a quitter?
So, you lied to me in the other thread when you aid you were off the Eastern Euro bumwagon. Damn. I thought we was boys, man.
Lol yeah I thought I was being funny. Maybe it wasn't. Definitely don't support the way Kovalev caved like that... But before that fight he provided me with enough entertainment to give him another shot.
Just joined with three posts and already not a Kova fan... thanks for your opinion.
The fight brought me here. What's wrong with that?
Kovalev has quit in him. That can't be denied.
I was never much of a fan to begin with. His offense isnt creative enough, his arsenal is limited and i never found him too exciting.
I watched the fight again and while Ward threw some illegal shots, he was overall the better fighter.
Now i am sure that GGG would wreck the sht out of Kovalev.
Why would people stop watching, just cause he lost to Ward? They aren't real boxing fans
Exactly. He lost to Ward, not some bum. I haven't seen anybody else at light heavy with great inside game. Not that i can think of any way.
What?? How can you justify that stoppage and the low blows that preceded it? At the very least a standing 8 count, I mean come on man. Ward's just playing the game like everyone else plays it here in the States though. I'm not knocking him for being a dirty fighter. My problem is with Tony Weeks' unprofessional and shameless performance. But again I'm not bashing Ward he did what he had to do. Maidana is one of my favorite welterweights within the past few years and certainly was a dirty fighter too. There is always an element of cheating in boxing, which is why we need better refs to counter act those tactics
The way people justify it is by pretending that Kovalev said "I quit!" to Weeks right after the third low shot in a row.
