Weebler is just a muppet who backs fighters based on the colour of their skin, Hatton himself said he wasnt ready to take on the best fighter in the world when people were claiming Mayweather was ducking him, Again only morons throw out the "ducking" word so quick these days.
I strongly disagree, I have never read a post where Weebler came accross as even the slightest bit racist. Most of his posts are very good, but he does have a huge blind spot when talking about Hatton
the only part of your post that is true is that boxing is about fighting technique, the rest of that is just blind hate. The punch might have been unsportsmanlike but not against the rules. Floyd is an ATG and a HOFer. GTFOI (get the f&*k over it)
How about Suliman and the other crooks at the WBC make Alvarez and JCC fight a top contender. These two might even be good fighters, but how can we find out if they're allowed to keep fighting has beens and never will bees. Its a disgrace to this great sport that the WBC says these two are the best fighters in the world at their weight classes. Fight a qualified contender already!
The smart money says Rios. With that said could Rios take a shot like the one Kat did from JMM? He's never been hit with a single punch like that. With his poor defence, could Kat stay around long enough to land a shot like that. Should be an interesting fight
Only thing that worries me about Canelo is his stamina but I dont think Trout will push the pace enough to make that a factor.
given Canelos pathetic opponents so far, stamina isn't the only question mark here.
I'm glad for your great post, Bob. Now, enjoy this fight. I post it to wish everybody a very happy new year. And, I hope it clearly comes thru. This is JCC v Meldrick Taylor. A contrast of great styles if there ever was one. For the youngsters, Taylor was an undefeated, a prior US olympic medalist, and considered to be the best of his generation when this fight took place. In fact, he was considered unbeatable. He was. And, then he met prime Chavez. Pay close attention to the deleterious effects of the body damage beginning in round 6. This was fight of the year in 1990. Enjoy.
One of Chavezs three greatest wins (along with the Camacho and Rosario wins). Hyena, I swear I'm not an azzhole, and I'm not prejudice, I just don't think Chavez is the GOAT, that all.
I remember you, your'e the guy that said Moreno would outclass and beat Mares 8 or more rds., and you look pretty dumb still bashing on my fellow Mexicans!
young man, I never bashed on your fellow Mexicans. As for Moreno/Mares, you are/were absolutely right. Mares fought a great fight and has way more skills than I thought. Donaire and Rigo can talk all the crap they want about each other, but its Mares they better be worried about
Chavez Sr was a double tough sonovabytch that was more than willing to fight anyone. He had an incredibly long prime, power in both hands, an a iron chin. The vile crooks at the WBC were so proud of him and his Mexican heretige they ripped the WBC 160lb belt from an established champion (Martinez) and gave it to Chavezs kid!
With all that said, Chavez Sr GOAT? Probably not top 20 and definitly not top 10
NO it just a solid BS fight. Kelly way past it. All that partying has caught up him I believe.
two top 10 contenders agree to fight and its a BS fight? Not every one subscribes to the Canelo method (you know the one, fight no credble opponents until you get big money). Some of us think contenders fighting each other is good for boxing.
If Pavlik can get back to 75% of what he was, he beats Bute easily
I think Floyd will fight in September because Golden Boy said he would. Four months is more than enough time to prepare for a fight after Guerrero. Many assume his opponent in September will be Canelo but neither Golden Boy or team Mayweather has said the opponent would be Canelo. I think Canelo will fight a top ten contender or champion Trout on the Mayweather card. I don't think Mayweather will ever fight Canelo and I will be pleasantly surprised if he does fight Canelo.
Given Canelos history, what makes you think he will face a top contender or Trout? I think Canelo will face another easy opponent (Mayorga, Maidana.etc) and the vile scumbags at the WBC will let him slide, AGAIN!
who cares if he's pro mexican? where you are when people are being pro black? or pro euro? you aren't anywhere to be found.
Read my whole post genius! I have no issues with him being pro Mexican, my issue is with forever posting how he's unbiased and informed, neither of which is TRUE
Are you his brother? His bytch? His alt?
He's done it for several fights, which is longer then any fighter in boxing history. Conte also works with Ward i think and not only has he never taken testing but he told AA it "wasnt necessary" when he asked for it.
The last sentence is funny because it youre criticizing him for not being tested longer when he in fact has been tested longer then anyone in history. This says something about boxing and you're agenda; you think conte is is/was feeding him drugs. It as pathetic as those saying JMM is juicing
I've asked you before, on the AA/Ward/Testing issue- link please
I don't know much about Burns, but this Vasquez dude impresses the hell out of me. He came from a humble beginning and rose up when his opportunity presented itself. While he doesn't do anything great, he does everything well. Always in shape and willing to fight anyone. IMO, its gonna take a great fighter, having a great night to beat him convincingly and from what I've seen Burns doesn't fit the bill
Prime Oscar possibly beats anybody in his weight class. That is a nonsequitor. See the word "amateur" under your name? Work on it.
No need. The history sectioneers can come out here and comment if they want. The fact that some of them have been closely following boxing for decades is a two edged sword. Because, a prior commitment is not easily reversed. Besides, there's nothing they can do about it. You cannot argue against math. No, I suspect they'll, for the most part, stay put and watch with interest.
so king romes opinion doesn't count because he's an "amateur" but you don't want to post this in the history section because you know you will gather little support from the guys who have followed boxing for decades? Now that's a two edged sword!
I hear your logic loud and clear. Perhaps Ezzerd was the greatest boxer to ever lace on gloves. Perhaps. Perhaps not. Surely, the same argument can be made for a host of ATGs. George Foreman for one.
The flaw in your logic is that it is subjective and opinions are always debatable. At the end of the day, statistics have to be the difference because they give a factual determination to a fighter's entire career. In this respect Ezzerd doesn't stand a chance with fighters such as Chavez, Robinson, Duran...etc... Number of World Titles, number of Title defenses, length of reign, unbeaten streaks....these are all indicators of true greatness throughout a career.
you can rant on and on about numbers, but GOAT status is decided by hard core boxing fans and not many agree with you (almost none who aren't Mexican). No way in hell the fighter considered to be the GOAT failed in his biggest test (Whitaker). I know the official scorecard says a draw, but once again every hardcore boxing fan knows Whitaker won, handily
Well your opinion is just an opinion..and a crappy one at that. I love the statement that only the Mexicans agree with me. LOL Who are you, the great Kreskin? Have your racist crystal ball with you right now?
I think its ironic that you make this post, and yet the poll places Chavez above Ali. Stick that in your racist crystal ball and look into it deeply.
you mad? I got an idea, put this post in the boxing history section, you know the place, where long time boxing fans post, dare ya
Its not so much the world title as the fact that he was given it to build him up as a superstar and an opponent for Mayweather. As a superstar Floyd opponent, and one holding a title, he's an unproven hypejob that doesn't deserve the recognition or payday.
Beating Trout would change that. Make the fight happen.
good post, my compliments
Damn you speak nothing but the truth. So Amazing.
Its a good thing you are willing to pat yourself on the back for your posts because no one else will. Almost all of your posts are either pro Mexican or totally ridiculous or both. Some of your recent gems- Guerrero is gonna KO Floyd and Martinez is gonna take a dive vs Martin Murray to avoid a Chavez Jr rematch. You like to tell everyone how your opinion is unbiased and informed when nothing could be further from the truth!
I have Rees by corner stoppage in the 8th.
I commend your nationalistic pride and I understand that outside the ring, Broner comes across as a first rate azzhole. But inside the ring his talent is obvious. To think Rees will beat Broner is really reaching
do you know for a fact that was the reason that fight didnt happen and do you know for a fact they asked for a test after he lost? if so please post link, or stop spreading your bias agenda having lies.
you're the last one who should scold anyone else about a bias agenda. Some of your recent gems- Guerrero KOs Floyd and Martinez is gonna take a dive vs Martin Murray to avoid a Chavez Jr rematch.
That is a disingenious argument.
King Rome's opinion doesn't count because its flawed. Even a committedly biased poster such as yourself can see that.
My position regarding the history section is already on record. They will note this thread. If somebody in there wants to run it, they can create one of their own. IMO this is the forum for this thread right now.
edit: BoxingBob: please tell me all the distinctively successful boxing styles that you have observed?
there are many distinctively successful boxing styles. There is the safety first and rely on your coordination and speed (Whitaker, Mayweather, Pep), there's come forward at all costs and count on your own punches (Pryor, Pac), there's the keep a tight defense and work that body (McCallum, Chavez Sr), there's the work everything off the jab (Larry Holmes), there's use your size to keep you opponent at bay (Wlad, Lewis), There's use subtle defense and use superior counter punching (Duran, JMM), there's see if you can take more punishment than your opponent (Saad Muhamed, Holyfield, Frazier, Marciano), There's the few guys that do everything well (Ali, Leonard, Robinson, Ricardo Lopez- who I think was p4p as good of a fighter as I've seen, hows that for Mexican prejudice?). There are many more
No, I'm not mad that you accused the Mexicans of being racists. I think its hypocritically hysterical.
And, I know the history section well. Love it. Some of the the best reading is in there. But, out here fresh information, ideas, and views are covered, and debated. The history section doesn't make history, it recites it.
No old geezer, or well plumed sports writer, can deny the numbers. It is what it is, even if it shakes things up. Change first requires recognition. And that takes along time because sacred cows are untouchable. And, Robinson is a sacred cow.
You may laugh right now, I expected it. But, in say...10 years...I'll be the one that's laughing.
BURN IT INTO YOUR HEAD: Chavez is the GOAT.
the history section is the perfect place for this poll as Chavez Sr hasnt fought in about 10ys. Why not let the "old geezers and well plumed sports writer" answer your question? Because these guys have been following boxing closely for decades they are the most qualified to have an opinion. You've had some success here as my original post was "probably not top 20 and definately not top 10". Upon further review- probably top 20 but definately not top 10
Sugar Ray Robinson is definitely the GOAT
Ali is a bit overhyped Joe frazier was better than him
Frazier better than Ali? A 2-1 advantge for Ali in H2H matchups, Foreman koed Frazier twice and Ali koed Foreman, and Ali had roughly 3 times as long at the top says -HELL NO
I agree. Even though I prefer the Cotto fight for more entertainment value, I would love it if Canelo took this fight so all the haters can STFU.
the haters are there for a reason. Canelo has 6 title fights and not one credible challenger yet and I seriously doubt if he will fight Trout.
I wonder what people were saying about Morales back in 1997 when he was 21 and just beat a 40 year old Zaragoza for the title and then defended it 3 times against no so great fighters.
He was so young, it makes you wonder huh?
some major differences between the two. First Morales fought a double tough sonovabytch in the champion Zaragoza for his title. To call Mathew Hatton a second rate 147lb contender would be kind and thats the guy Canelo beat for the 154lb title! In Morales 3rd defense he faced Junior Jones who had beaten Berrera twice. In 6 title fights Canelo has yet to fight a credible challenger and the Josito Lopez fiasco can't be forgiven. Name one fighter through out history that when their fight fell through, they fought a fringe contender from two weight devisions below
