Gamboa the cuban kid. If so, he is a combination of Floyd and Mayorga. He is cocky but a great talent. Reminds me of Jason Litzoa in that he is talented but cocky and knowingly leaves himself open.
I'm from outside phily. Used to work in the city. Commute was killing me....I don't care If I never never drive the schukill again.
Whats up with blue horizon tix going to for $50. I used to go just a few years ago and they were $15. Maybe they bought toilets now to class up the joint rather than just going in a whole in the ground were a toilet used to be.
Its scientifically proven. Left handers have an advantage.
http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn6773
They discovered a correlation between levels of violence and the proportion of the left-handed population – the more violent a culture, the higher the relative proportion of left-handers. The cause for this, the researchers suggest, is that left-handers are more likely to survive hand-to-hand combat.
"Because of the advantage in sports we thought there could be a similar advantage in fights," Faurie told New Scientist. The theory is that right-handed competitors are less accustomed to facing left-handers, making them a more difficult proposition.
I don't know how you couldn't also give Taylor rounds 2 and 7. Taylor landed more punches and more power shots in the second and they each only landed 1 power shot in the 7th.

I suppose trying to fight and running away counts for something these day. Boxing and running are two different things. Boxing is pop, pop, move and hopkins would only through when cornered......that is until the 10th!!
Taylor can't allow himself to be baited like tito. He shouldn't try to counter, spinkjinx said it. Jab, Jab move, be the aggresser
This isn't a real left uppercut, it's bait

wow, read this... its from the "opinion" section of the newspaper:
"Brutal boxing"
As I watched the movie "Cinderella Man," I was confronted with the same problem that i had when i saw "Million Dollar Baby." These two films are examples of acting and directing at their absolute excellence, but the problem is that the audience has to also sit through all of the graphically brutal boing scenes. The big question is why two females beating each other senseless or two males doing the same thing is called a "sport." It's outrageous that boxing can't be outlawed. I think the main reason for this is the money involved. As with drugs and guns, as long as people are will to pay for them, they will continue to exist.
Martin Whitaker
can you believe the ignorance??!?!??
You have to site your source ( the paper you got it from). This serves two purposes. 1) we are more likely to believe you 2)So I write this A-hole and tell to stick to his day-job giving bikini waxes.
Most people agree Meldrick Taylor was robbed against chavez in there first fight. HOPKINS/TAYLOR was a Meldrick Taylor/Ceasar Chavez fight except Jermain Taylor took less punishment.
Flyod isn't going to move up to 154. There is still a ton of big paydays in 140 & 147. For example, Judah said he'd fight Floyd and that would be a great fight that fans would pay to see. If he was dumb enough to move up, he'd learn that 154 is no fun like Shane did.
Jones needs to change his style as Ali did with his comeback in 70. The speed, more legs than anything are not as they once were and Jones needs to curb his reliance of bobing & weaving and BLOCK. He needs to learn to block, keep his hands up....at least while punches are being throw. When G Johnson was throwing all those punches rather than block jones thought he could out weave while one the ropes??!?!?!

WBC: Only Rocky to be penalized!
The World Boxing Council has updated their previous announcement in regards to fighters missing mandatory weigh-ins 30 and 7 days before their fights Saturday night. Now the word is the only boxer to be penalized for non-compliance of WBC regulations will be Rocky Juarez. "Juarez was the only one to violate our rules regarding weight control but not because we made mistakes in our communications, as he had already been informed. The WBC has been always very careful and respectful towards the promotions staged by Oscar De la Hoya, world champion and head of Golden Boy Promotions," read a WBC statement.

If the WBC is changing weigh-ins...ie
you must weigh 135 for a 135 - 30days before a fight and 135 days for a 135lb fight
Its going effect a lot of things, outcomes, betting, performace.
I was impressed Liakovich against Brewster. I think he could take Vlad. Valuev and Maskaev too for that matter but Vlad would be the best match up. It appears to me that he is the Antonio Margaritto or Winky Wright of the heaveyweight division so I doubt we'll see it until Liak gets some more recognition (a second belt).
Thanks for the info
Here is my list (not to be confused with the top 10 champions of all time - which I made based purly on their title defenses)....not that anyone cares
1)Ali
2)Louis
3)Johnson
4)Foreman
5)Holmes
6)Tyson
7)Tunney
8)Dempsey
9)Marciano
10)Frazier
Tunney record was 61-1. Frazier has 4 losses and half as many wins.
Can anyone tell me what happened to David Reid?
I used to enjoy watching him fight but have not heard of him in ages. He used to be a talented fighter but had a habbit of dominating the first half of his fights and then pretty much packing his bags. I know he got spanked ny tito and last time i saw him was on friday night fights squeezing out a decision.
Cheers.
He got a detached retina. Its like a death sentence for a boxer. It why Sugar Ray Leonard retired and why the couple of comback fights he was so afraid of getting hit. If you continue to fight with a detached retina A) you can easily detach it again B) with the impact of a punch detach your good eye (detached eyes are always degraded and never as good as they were originally)
Basically your putting yourself in a position to be blind!
Actually, I am doing a lot of workwith Joe Tess for ESPN now with ESPN Classic fights. I have done quite afew in the last 2 months and have quite a few more to do. If u catch ESPN Classics you can usually hear and see one of the fights I've done
That is prob what I'm thinking of then. I was watching Mercer V Holyfield and I was thinking, "Man Scully is spot on with his calls". There was another fight were that happend as well. I didn't even realize that you weren't there when the fight originally happened.
Quick quesiton though. Why not run the original commentary? The rights to rebroadcast have been bought, you know.
The best thing I read in that article is that Judah might face Floyd. It would be a great fight. I take Zab winning after one hell of a fight. I thought I remember hearing that they are friends so I wonder how that will effect things?!?!!?
Mayweather has had problems with his hands and this is only Mayweather 3rd fight at 140. Thats the what if factor.
Gatti better hope Mayweather hurts his hand on his Head. Otherwise, I see Mayweather by decision.
I think that brittle hands is bullshit, he landed some hard shots on Corley with no problem and really havent had much problems in my recent memory.
I thought so too (the hands excuse being BS) but when HBO had FMJ do a Mini inverview before the Winky or Cotto fight (can't remember) it was the camera was up close with his hands on a table. You could see Floyds knuckles are F'd up. It was the inverview where he was wearing sunglasses (and yes it was night time), the suit and bling-bling pinky ring.
Anyway, his knuckles are visable not right.
The best Uppercut I've EVER seen was Mike Ikebauchi sending Chris Byrd into Lala land......ahh ...I still makes me warm all ever evertime I think about it.
.....drip......goes spit down Byrds chin
Tyson utilized uppercut in every fight. It was his punch, just devastating.
Worst Judges - Lewis Vs Holyfield 1
Worst Ref call - In 1990 Meldrick Taylor was beating Chavez the until the later rounds. Richard Steel stopped the fight with 2 seconds left. If Steele would have would have let it go, Taylor would have easily got the decision.
