It is true that I do not know the man personally but there are things that the man has said and done which makes me not like the man.
He calles himself "money", he talks about how money is the only reason he is in fighting. That he doesn't care what people think of him as long as he keeps making money; blah blah blah. This is something I can understand a person coming from a very poor background might be proud of but he doesn't seem to realise that for a lot of poor people who are in neighbourhoods like where he grew up saying these kind of things does not appear aspirational but more like he is rubbing it in in there faces. Other boxers who have a social conscience are the ones I can involve a personal connection with, someone like Floyd who treats the sport as a business and flaunts money in peoples faces I find it easy to detest. But thats good for his publicity and his company, so it ends up feeding him financially regardless of how we feel about him. That is until he gets beaten, possibly by a boxer with a social conscience, hmmm if only there was another boxer from humble beginings but this one maybe looking after his people in any way he could, maybe even he has big political dreams. Ah, I can't think of one.
The Khan-Mayweather fight wont happen until a year from now, probably somewhere between September and November. Khan has to dispatch of Peterson and Vargas first. Therefore if Mayweather gets past Khan then he would possibly (but I really doubt it) fight Manny in 2013 around March time. Realistically though I see Khan causing him so many problems that he would be afraid of fighting Manny. He's going to keep making requests to try and duck Manny but make it look like Manny is ducking. I mean what more can Manny do, he has accepted to all the drug testing but he won't accept that he has to stay in America to train. Where does Mayweather get off demanding Manny has to train in America rather than his home country, the country he is a public official in. Imagine what people would be saying if Manny said; "Okay Floyd I'll fight you as long as you displace your training camp to the Philipines." Erm...
A guy called James Butler, who I have just been reading about, sucker-punched Richard Grant following the fight. Butler had lost on point and as a victorious Grant came to embrace him Butler treated him to a Hayemaker. Knocked him unconscious. Got taken into custody and had his licence revoked.... I wonder what Floyd will do when he loses against Khan or Manny...
We don't pay to see him knock someone out when they aren't looking. There is a difference between fighting dirty with his elbows all over the place like normal, but a sucker punch knockout disappoints any fan of boxing. If you like these kind of tricks then watch WWE. If you want to watch a real boxer fight then watch the likes of Manny, Khan, Hopkins etc.
They do look a bit weird together on the 24/7. She seems more bothered about her pretty shoes than him. I don't know if anyone has seen Angry Boys before, but their relationship sort of reminds me of s.mouse and his girlfriends. Hey Floyd's insecure enough to hire a girl just to make him look like not everyone think that he's an arrogant moron. Come on Victor, I hope you make Mayweather look like an old man.
I'll be honest I think Ortiz and Khan would be a tough one to call. But then it depends what happens in the next fight for the two of them, if Ortiz gets completely destroyed by Mayweather then Khan will probably avoid Ortiz as it would ruin the chance of him getting to Mayweather. I wish Bradley would stop ducking Khan and take the fight. That I would like to watch. Khan would dominate Bradley, but then Bradley would probably do his old trick of headbutting Khan.
I think Manny is willing to take the fight, I think if he beats Marquez and Mayweather beats Ortiz then we may be looking at this fight at the end of the year. Mayweather is the problem in this whole thing, he has made the drug testing excuse now thats not a problem. Then he says he doesn't want to deal with Arum again, which is more of a problem I think. If there is enough money on the table for Mayweather to go and buy a 1000 pairs of cool shoes and a few more Bentleys with then he'll take it. One last pay-day and then his career will either end on a win, or a loss, a rematch or a fight with Khan which he will probably win.
Hopefully this will shut up both Prescott and the Khan haters who have been banging on about an unnecessary rematch since Khan has been calling Mayweather out. Thats him done for me for a while now, needs to keep his mouth shut, his head down and go back to lightweight and get on with trying to get himself some titles as that level. He's not got the same power at this weight. Also, did anyone see how ridiculous the clothes he was wearing in the post-fight interview were?
