Tarver is the face of boxing right now whether you guys want to admit it or not.
If Tarver was the face of boxing I would stop watching. Tarver is a walking joke. What is with the light heavy weight division anyway Roy doged people for years and now Tarver is doing the same thing. The light heavy division could be one of the most exciting if they could get a respectable champ. I thought Roy Jones was the shit for years but got sick of the way he would not fight any one and never showed any heart. Then Tarver beats him and I thought "ok its a new devision now". Wrong. Tarver just wants to get payed and fight roy jones every year or two. You cant build a legacy by beating one guy no mater how good he was.
By the way the Tarver vs Jones 3 made me want to puke
By the way even if he loses a big name fight it doent mean he is done but at this rate he is going to lose to a fringe opponent and that would seriously hurt his carrer. Take the big fights ricky and as long as you put on a good show people will respect you
I dont want to hate on Ricky and maybe it was just a bad first impresion but I was pumped to see him fight callazo especially with all the buzz surounding him (fighter of the year) and everything I read about him on these forums so I was dispointed with his performace.
I think he won the fight but just by the skin of his teeth without that early knockdown I would have given it to callazo. I wont try to take anything away from him about his win over Tsyzu but in my oppinion the jury is still out over Hatton big time. His next 2 or 3 fights will be the deciding factor and I hope he takes on some Big name opponents. His carrer so far has some big question marks and now is the time for him to clear them up. What is he waiting for? his fan base is big enough in England and Americas obiviously want to see him fight so I think its time for Ricky to step up.
WIth a good win over a top rank fighter Hatton could become a PPV name. He allready has alot of buzz surounding him. I think he is an exciting fighter and his fight against Collazo was a good watch. He clinched but it wasnt over the top. When ricky would clinch up it was the only break in the action its not like that fight was slow paced or unwatchable.
It was a very close fight but I think Hatton pulled it off. That knock down in the first round for hatton made the difference. It really could have gone ethier way but their is no way you could call it a robery.
I agree that it is hard to hate Hatton. You have to love his style and his attitude out side of the ring. Im still a doubter however. The was people talk about him makes him sound like the greatest fighter around. I think he still has somthing to prove against top rated guys especially at welter weight. But no mater what happens with Hatton involved it should be exciting at the very least
PFB would dominate Hatton from what I saw last night. I like Ricky's swarming style but I dont think it would be effective against the upper echelon fighters. His power was not very emprisive ethier Callazo looked like he landed the bigger shots in that fight. I belive him when he says he has to grow into the weight and i think he will get stronger as time progesses but I think he is over rated from what is saw last night against callazo. How do you think he would do against DHL?
I dont see it happening, I dont see him landing to many clean puches on PBF no one does, but hey anything is possible. What i think would probably end up being Hatton's Ward/Gattl is a fight with Cotto, their styles complament each other very well. Can Hatton walk through what Cotto throws at him, and can he keep the pressure going. What's your thoughts on Cotto/Hatton.
Hatton fans dont want to hear a word of desagreement, they say that he can beat Mayweather, did Mayweather look bad in his first welterweight fight(he might have been small, but he took alot of good punches), and Judah is a strong, fast fighter. I dont hate on Hatton, his style is entertaining, but he's not unstoppable. What he need is a fight like Gatti/Ward so he can show of his style, but against top notch boxers he will fall, to say that he can beat PBF is a joke but people suggest it. He's a good fighter but he's not the great white hope(calzhagi probably is).
I agree 100% he is a good fighter and very entertaining to watch but he is not unstopable. Was is just me or did Callazo who is not known for his power hurt Hatton a few times?
Hatton is overrated. He is an exciting fighter so I understand why people like him but there is no way he is going to be able to compete with the top welter weights (PFB for example). And as for him improving so much he has already had 41 fights. I do agree that we cant judge him on his first fight a welter because alot of guys look slopy right after they move up but Hatton doesnt have the tools to compete with the best.
I see Hatton as a one of those tough fighters who will slug it out with anyone but lacks the accuracy and defense to be the best. Swarmers like ricky will always be beaten by "Slick" fighters who can slip his punches and fire away from the out side. He does have great stamina and will always be dangerous but I think he will become one of those guys that is a "test" for other fighters on their way up not a undisputed champion.
