Boxing is so corrupt that even after a blowout victory, the champ is nervous and excited when the scorecards get read. Trout did nothing to impress me but Cotto's career is over. I'm not a big Canelo fan, but he would baila la bamba all over Trout.
I think this may have exposed Mayweather as well!
Another reason why we need one governing body to regulate one of the world's most corrupt sports. Then we will get real fights with the true best vs the true best bouts!
Cotto + Margarito = WHO CARES?
Cotto is done and ever since Margarito was exposed for padding his hands illegally against Sugar SHAME Mosley, he has looked like basura. (Trash in spanish.) His entire career is suspect!
I'd rather see these two have a drinking contest. And I already said it a few times, Martinez is a punk. I've eaten at Burger King, now I'm waiting for Viejo Sergio to retire and open up a "Pollo King" franchise because the only crown you wear Martinez is the King of Chickens. Hope Barker pulls a Buster Douglas on your punk a$$ for dodging The Kid Chocolate...
P E N D E J O ! ! !
Remember when Bute fought, um...? Or when he fought uh...? Or that time he fought... (crickets)... Who the hell has Bute fought?
This is his first test with a real fighter that's almost in his prime. I'm rooting for Froch.
Can Cotto upset? Shane still sweet? Kid Chocolate win the Wright way?
I would love to see a Cotto upset. If his team can devise a specific strategy against defending against all the illegal elbows from Mayweather and the favoritism he gets from Joe Cortes and the handpicked judges, Miguel has a shot.
Undercard is not as bad as everyone thinks. Sugar Shane is a war horse that will fight til the end. And I'm intrigued to see what Winky has left in his tank. Kid Chocolate needs a knockout to gain any popularity off the most viewed card he has been on.
And of course Quillin would be tougher for Martinez but like i said and like it or not, Martinez is a top fighter and he wants his money and that's it. As a boxing fan, i would much rather him fight Quillin because Chavez sucks.
Besides looking forward to a title shot for Quillin, I really would like to see some real battles in the ring like the old days.
Who knocked that kid's tooth out of his mouth?
No one knocked out his tooth. Too much Chocolate. Lol He likes the missing tooth. It works for his boxing image. lmao
Some here might disagree but at this point, Sergio Martinez has the fight to ask for what ever fight he wants. Just like Manny and Mayweather, no matter how much you disagree, he has earned to come out and demand his fight and its surprising that Roach will criticize it considering the crappy choice Manny has taken lately. Oh, Mayweather does it too.
Roger that. I lost respect for Floyd when he dodged Pacman's bullet. Now Pac is pulling some of the same stuff. While they're bank accounts balloon during one of the worst economic time of our country, we get some of the worst fights of all time!
I can't believe "SAD JUDAH" cried low blow even though Khan's shot landed flush on the belt that he was practically wearing on his neck. Were those low blows too that wrecked his face? What a cry baby. Then he said he thought he was getting an 8 count even though he was on his knees. It's called a STANDING 8 count. Not too mention, they AGREED on NO STANDING 8 counts. New Yorkers take their a$$ whipping like men! This is what happens when they become famous & relocate.
puerto ricans think they good wht that lil cheap win over margo, they must thank paquiao for it,mexico has 17 current champions puerto rico has one, give me a break
There are 133.5 million Mexicans in Mexico and another 30 million in the USA. There are a total of 3.9 millions people on the island of Puerto Rico with another 4.1 million that live in the states. Are you really impressed by 17 Mexican champs?
1 Puerto Rican champ walked into the ring against 0 Mexican champs. 1 Puerto Rican champ walked out.
not really im from pr but i knoe that morel will get ktfo in this fight i have seen santa cruz fight and he was too much for morel.....
i cant speak for all the others unfortunately but i am very realistic not a blind fan. i also like tha way many mexicans fight..... just need to love the sport regardless where u from but i also enjoy the mexican- pr rivalry they put sometimes the best fights win or lose.....
I'm Boricua too. I'm referring to anyone that starts the BS. A rivalry is good but not when people are blinded by their flag. I'm a boxing fan. When Cotto fought Pac, I was the only one that knew Pacman would win. When B-Hop beat Tito, I realized how limited a fighter Trinidad was and how fortunate he was to get as far as he did. Respect the sport, respect all warriors!
Santa Cruz is moving up. Would love to see him end the myth of Rigondeaux. Rigondeaux looked pretty bad just now. This watching two screens at once is a bot of a headache.
He's fighting a bum a week before the date he was originally scheduled to fight. WTF? Am I the only who sees this as a dumb decision? Lee is too far into his career to be fighting bums, why didn't Dibella just put him up against Quillin? Is Quillin too much of a threat?
YUP! Team Chocolate and Golden Boy did everything to make the fight happen. Team Lee turned it down after making the initial offer. Quillin has demolished or made light work out of every opponent he and Lee share; including McEwan who was convincingly beating Lee until he ran out of gas and got KO'd in the last round.
So much politics in the sport today keep us from seeing the best fights. There used to be only 1 Don King in the sport, now the entire Kingdom is full of them.
Angel Hernandez formerly known as Angel "memo" Heredia was definitely the game changer. He changed his name after admitting to selling steroids and PED's to Olympic Gold winner Marion Jones and other Olympians, including gold medalists Antonio Pettigrew, Jerome Young, Tim Montgomery and Dennis Mitchell. So, I wonder if he only changed his name and kept his same approach, STEROIDS! But Pac Man dopes too, so the better doper won.
Can't believe what I witnessed. Back to the drawing board. Marcus' style of fighting is much better for pro fighting than the Olympics. He will make a huge impact in the pro's.
Bull**** article.
They flew Kessler in for a ringside view - then offered him 20% of the purse he was earning per fight in the super six.
That is documented by Kessler across the danish national press.
He showed the same courage when he was made #1 to then-unbeaten Kessler's WBC title, he dropped straight out and then began a series of IBF qualifiers before fight super-bum-berrio.
Fact is, team bute know their audience are largely clueless and are happy to pay for their bell centre tickets regardless whatever bum gets chosen.
Let them know!
Bute is so overrated. I met him at Quillin's Golden Boy debut in Quebec City. He's a great guy, but great boxer he has yet to prove. His resume sucks! It took him 9 rounds to dispose of Jesse Brinkley. It took Peter "The Kid Chocolate" Quillin only 3 to break him down.
Quillin was offered a fight with Bute but turned it down with his sights on taking over the Middleweight division. No disrespect to Johnson, he was a great opponent. But a threat he is not. He's like the Buffalo Bills of boxing, makes it to the Super Bowl but just can't win.
I'll be watching Quillin vs. McEwan on HBO. I'll read about Bute's easy win over Johnson on Boxingscene.com.
Most likely kid chocolate is dirty
If Kid Chocolate is dirty then most likely so was Canelo for all his fights, right? Quillin walks around at 172. He can piss his way to 160 for a fight. He is a beast and always has been. He would have no reason to use any banned substances.
Sergio shouldn't even be in the top 10. Barker's resume and performance alone almost drops him out of the top 20. Pac and May should not be 1 & 2. Noth have had horrible recent outings and with Pac's delay, both have dodged each other to end the dispute. JMM righfully at 3. 2 Super Middle's and neither one's name is Lucian Bute - NICE! B-Hop should be higher in the rankings.
By the way, JMM didn't fight JMM in his last 5 outings. Typo should say Pacquiao.
This is so sad. And before anyone brings up George Foreman in his last fighting days, Holyfield is in no way physically or mentally in the same state as George was! This is just more evidence that the sport is on a steady decline that a bout like this would even be entertained for consideration!!!
It is clear as day that Martinez has fought better fighters as of late and called out the so called "best" and top guys but no one has answered the call. I'm sure Martinez is not afraid to fight anyone at this point but wants to see a big payday soon. In my opinion. I believe he should keep fighting solid, regarded guys who want to fight and build up his name continually because none of these big name fighters will ight him unless his name is major. Sergio Martinez in his last 4 fights has impressed like no one else in the sport. There have been many upsets this year and I love that for the sport of boxing. Boxers/fighters are not fighting the best because the promoters don't want to risk losing to a good fighter but will eventual lose to an underdog and look like crap while doing it. Boxing needs to get back to what it was but doesn't look like it will happen as long as these promoters continue to try to cash in on fighters that haven't even proved anything in the sport and keep their top guys winning to capitalize off of their fame and momentum without risking their resumes.
It's a sad reality, but the reality to say the least. Sergio signed a 6 fight multimillion dollar deal with DBE already. Yet, when you have millions, it seems as if there is never enough millions to go around. I figured with so many advances in technology today, we could really make the best match ups WORLDWIDE. But like a few have already stated, it's not about the quality of opposition, it's about the money. Sergio has less than 1000 more followers on Twitter than Quillin. That's pathetic considering the amount of media coverage he receives and the fact that he has a global Latino FOLLOWING. Real boxing fans want to see real fighters fight!
So far my favorite fight of the year! As soon as I said if Kirkland loses this fight his career is over, it was as if he heard me through the boob tube and turned everything around. You can't teach or train someone to have heart.
Oscar DLH tweeted "watch out for this fighter they will be showing highlights on HBO of him we are going after Martinez and Chavez.he is a beast"
Quillin is the future of Boxing and more specifically the Middleweight division. I couldn't make this trip to Vegas as today is my birthday and a special gift for me is seeing my unborn son in 4D. I did ask The Kid Chocolate if he could give me another special gift with a 1st round KO. Haven't seen him wreck someone in a minute since they had to slow him down due to no one wanting to fight him!
Please be a sport & gift wrap me that !st rd KO!
I thought I saw him fight on a TR card. I thought he was being a good soldier by not calling out Chavez Jr. Good, that means he can call his @ss out as well as Martinez. Call out Authur Abraham(give him a welcome back present). Call out Dmitry Pirog and everyone else and get the MW division popping, if thats what he wants to do. He does have options at SMW too if he pleases.
Different promoters, same trainer & gym. Lol Chavez knows what his fists feel like. I doubt he'll give him the shot.
I still think Mayweather dodged Pac when he was at his peak knocking everyone out. Pac has lost a step now and Money May wants to cash in on that lost step like he did when he stepped on Ortiz and KO'd him.
Everyone seems upset that the Floyd - Manny fight will not happen cinco the mayo. Ideally, Floyd should be fighting a Mexican on their holiday. Realistically, like I've said before, the Floyd-Manny fight will never happen.
The craziest thing about this thread is that no one seems to have any issues with a man putting his hands on a woman, being found guilty and delayed his jail sentence so he can get paid mega millions to put his hands on a man. Not only is the sport of boxing pathetic so is the US Judicial system for allowing this to happen.
I have been quoted numerous times and still believe "You always control the decisions you make, but once you make that decision, you will always be controlled by that decision you made." - B.R! I guess it only applies outside the borders of Las Vegas.
After the injuries and near final round KO, I can't blame Martinez for wanting to cash out when he can. Cotto will bring him a much higher pay day. Unfortunately for Sergio, it will also be a loss. Cotto won't run from him but engage in a war he won't be able to withstand.
