Andre Ward has not refused anything.
"I'm not saying that i'm going to pass him up" - Andre Ward
He then goes to say he just wants to Bute to know that he knows what he's been planning on doing, which is let the Super 6 fighters go at it, fighting all the tough fights while he's fighting the easier fights at home. Then fight the Super 6 winner coming off of some tough fights, while he's still fresh. He ends with, if it's the right deal, let's do it.
Here are his exact words:
"Bute has avoided this tournament, and has fought B-level fighters, so why should I now give him that opening?"
See this is what I am talking about...No matter what Bute does, it is never enough...So any damn Bute haters...Even if Bute beats Froch and then Ward, there will always be some excuse...just wait and see
LMAO you really believe that signing a two fight deal that will almost certainly keep him tied up for all of 2012 and fighting the loser of the tournament and not facing the winner for an entire year is fighting the best?
Dude are you on drugs?
Fighting the runner up is better than fighting an unknown.
Bute already fought Glen Johnson and made an offer to Kessler but KEssler refused. Now Ward refused....
You tell me who at 168 lbs is he supposed to fight?
Then you can LYAO.
Two fights? The hell is that?? Why would anyone sign a two fight deal with anyone? And why didn't bute even try to fight ward? Why not wait a bit its been one day
2 fights because it was part of the conditions the British put in. They were probably certain Froch would lose in Canada and wanted a second fight in England.
Bute wanted to fight the winner of Super 6, he was ringside at the match and after the fight Ward hinted it is not fair for Bute to fight the winner of the Super 6 at least not right now.
I'm a little tired, a little drunk; why would Froch's camp be setting up two fights with Bute? Generally you don't start discussing rematches before the first fight. There's rematch clauses but why would you say you're gonna fight a guy twice? Someone enlighten me..
I am sure it is because Froch's camp is certain their fighter will lose in Montreal
2013? I hope you meant 2012
Yes, I am sorry I made a mistake it is 2012 of course...
Can a moderator please edit the title - for some reason it won't allow me
J.ONE he wanted to fight Ward but he REFUSED!!!
Who the hell is he supposed to fight...PLease tell me.
Kessler refused! Pavlik refused, WARD REFUSED...WHO ELSE???
THIS PROVES A NUMBER OF THINGS:
1. Regarding Bute not wanting to fight top opposition: BS!!! As soon as Super 6 was over he announced he wants to fight the winner....WARD REFUSED...SO Bute went for the runner up....
2. Regarding Bute "low-balling" other quality fighters because Bute is afraid to fight them: Froch just said it was the easiest deal ever which proves that Bute will fight anyone that is willing to fight him
3. Regarding Bute not wanting to leave Canada: The 2nd fight will be in England, last time I checked England is not in Canada (although Canada is a monarchy).
I think this will be agreat double-header but I don't think Froch knows what he is getting himself into...He is picking Bute for his "come back" ??/ I htink he is out of his mind...
Just watch the beginning of this documentary - it shows the ongoing frustration in Bute's camp with top fighters refusing to fight Bute - in this case it was Pavlik
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8NPErhkgbg
strange... the deal hasn't been officialised here... it's just suggested it might happen
http://www.rds.ca/boxe/chroniques/332018.html
this site is usually very up to date with anything concerning Bute...
strange.........
It was just announced a half hour ago...you will hear it tomorrow officially
Phantom: it is scheduled already...it IS happening.
I think Ward was right to take a break...Smart fighter. He will be able to disect Bute and will be prepared for him after Bute puts Froch into retirement
Someone get this fight signed.
Too late...as soon as Ward said no, Bute's camp signed up a double-header with Froch - one in Canada and one in England...April and July 2012
I am new to this forum and I mean no disrespect but why is there so much anti Bute mentality here? I think because there are a lot of Americans and Brits here. I totally understand some of the points about Bute not having fought the best, although this was not his fault. Most Super middleweights were locked in Super 6 and those bigger names that were not in Super 6 (Kessler, and later Pavlik) refuse to fight him. Many of you act like this is the fighter's fault(i.e. Bute low-balled him). Even if this is true that would be the management's fault. Another thing i hate hearing is that Bute is no good because of his one mishap against Andrade...Has anyone seen the freaking rematch???
Let's stop the hate and focus on actual boxing facts...If you think Bute is such a poor boxer, please tell me why...I'm tired of hearing "he's a *****" or "overated", - if you think this tellme why...
If you look at who he's fought, it may not be the biggest names but still he won clear fights against some significant fighters which Froch and Ward had problems with...
Again not sure why so many hate Bute since he is one of the most decent champs I've seen...
Bute needs Ward more than Ward needs him
Why does Bute need Ward? He draws 10 times more people than Ward and makes 10 times more for each fight thatn Ward does.
Of course we as fans would say that it should not be about money...but to professional fighters it is a LOT about money. And to quote Ward:
"This is a sport we talk about heart and about desire but we also use our brains...and we will sit down and make a solid business decision"
Not fighting Bute is a weak business decision.
Who has Bute beat that he somehow deserves the winner of the Super 6? Bute can wait. Bute needs Ward more than Ward needs him. I agree with how Ward feels..that Bute basically ducked out of the tourny and expect to ride the coat tails and fight him right off the bat? Yeah right.
It is a matter of unification of 2 belts. A fight between 2 champions.
It is funny seeing Ward's camp (and fans) say that Bute is not worthy of a chance to fight Ward...I am ok with that (for now) but let's just see who Ward will actually fight next; I am 100% sure that whoever Ward fights next will be less worthy than Bute, a smaller name than Bute and will bring in less cash than a Bute fight.
I agree it's best for the sport for fights to be held in the best markets. The only problem with that is that Ward won't get a fair shake in Canada, and he knows it. That's why it won't happen.
Ward is going to out box Bute, and Froch can KO Bute out. Remember Andrade
Yes I rememberAndrade...You seem to forget there was a rematch.
In the first fight Bute was recovering from food poisoning but he still fought and never used that as an excuse for the poor performance in the last round...Yes the last round as up until that point he was comforably ahead.
All the negative comments i see about BUte deals with Andrade's first fight...Any other negative things about him? Bute's 2nd fight with Andrade negates the first fight which was an accident but the Bute haters seem to ingore this. Iwant to hear what real weaknesses Bute has and you cannot talk to me about the first Andrade fight.
dude. slow bum andrade KO'D bute. KNOCKED HIM COMPLETELY OFF of his feet........who cares if ward hit froch with a left hook. ward is LIGHT years past bute. bute is a predictable one handed fighter..........bute waits & waits & waits to land that one left hand. magee got to bute in the early & middle rounds & pretty much unraveled him...why? because bute kept waiting & waiting for that one left hook. he eventually landed that left & put magee down which changed the entire fight but what if that left never came? against froch that left will never come.....froch will walk through it & land some bombs himself. BUTE is predictable, heartless, lacks the stamina to finish a fight & lacks experience. he's a total paper champion who's fooled the people such as yourself.............andrade ko'd him into bum world. he has a good left hand & nothing more. when he can't hurt his opponent with that left he falls apart or becomes very predictable..........
sorry bro but i have to tell the truth about the media created fraud bute.
1. KO' Bute?? Really? Are you sure it wasn't because Bute ran out of steam? The truth is he was out on his feet because the cardio was gone due to a previous sickness. It's not like Andrade caught hi, Bute was already finnished.
2. Did you watch the rematch??? Oh I guess not, you prefer to just think about Bute's only flop in his career. Why is that.
If you want to talk about boxing thatn do so with facts - his strengths and weaknesses, after all he is the IBO champ and beat opponents that Ward and Froch also beat however Bute beat them much more clearly.
Don't worry Ward and Froch will get their turn and then you will have to come up with other excuses, just like when Bute fought Johnson (OH he is too old - yet 6 months ago Johnson was at same level with Froch)
Froch would KO Bute.
He would if he were the better boxer...but he ain't
Anyways I don't think we all have long to wait to see this happen.
Bute wants to fight Ward but Ward will not fight Bute just yet.
Ward prefers to see Bute fight Froch to gauge him on how dangerous he really is. When Bute KO's Froch with an uppercut to the chin or the liver, all the Froch lovers and Bute haters will finally shut the hell up.
Oh and one more thing: Bute has had 2 dreams as a boxer. One was to become a champion and hte other is to fight in Madison Square Gardens....He wants to fight in States and it is only a matter of time...THat should shut up most of those that say he will not fight outside Canada
It's funny how everyone brings up Bute's first fignt against Andrade but not the rematch. Whatever you are trying to make a point and it is a valid one but you can't base that on Bute's form on that night. He was recovering from food poisoning - not many know this as he did not want any excuses after the fight. I am just sick of hearing things like "Bute has a weak chin" or Bute cannot go the distance" simply because people base it on his first fight with Andrade. If that is the case you should watch Bute's fights against Bika and Glen Johnson, where he went the distance, got hit and still won unanimouosly
