You always hear peopel saying Ward is boring, Ward holds too much, Ward just pot shots, Ward has no power.....while they never mention just how good he is.
Ward has dominated every top contender put in front of him, with relative ease. After he whooped Kessler, a lot of people were saying Ward is a KO loss waiting to happen, and he will get dropped once he fights people like Abraham and Froch. Well, he did, and dominated them too. It was luaghable that the 2 judges had the fight 115-113. The only rounds I gave Froch were the 5th (could have gone either way) and the 9th. Froch won one round clearly and that was it. I had the fight 118-110. Even on the inside, the only time it seemd Ward got hit, Andre was giving more than he was taking.
If Ward had just boxed and not exchanged shots with Froch for brief moments, it probably would have been a shut out.
Andre Ward is a top 5 P4P fighter, it's time people accept it. Hopefully Bute steps up and accepts a fight with Ward, because he too will be out classed. I don't see anyone that's left at 168 (Bute, Andre Dirrell, Anthony Dirrell) or anyone at 175 (Hopkins, Pascal, Dawson, Cloud, Cleverly) beating Ward. The only person that I could see beating Ward that's within his weight range is Sergio Martinez, and he doesn't want it with Ward, at all.
So, just how good do you think Andre Ward is?
If Bute signs to fight Froch, the guy is a full blown punk. How is he going to fight the guy who's coming off the loss instead of the win??? It makes ZERO sense.
Maybe because Ward pretty much said he doesn't want to fight Bute next?

I don't see how flyweight is deeper than bantam. I don't really even think its plausible. And that's even with removing Donaire from the equation.
wonjongkam, viloria, mthalane, marquez, sosa, melindo, concepcion , mayol, segura, miranda , mayol, mepranum......these guys have beaten eachother already and there's no clear superior fighter besides pong....in the bw , moreno and donaire , no one i really could say would beat them besides eachother.....
it aint deeper than flyweight man....there's ward and bute above everyonle else at smw....it's basicly a 2 man div just like the bw (donaire and moreno)...flyweight is the more competitve division IMO...

Oh OK :lol1:. I was scratching my head...But, even then I don't think I would put him over Dawson or even Cunningham.
I don't know about Dirrell...I just don't. I get the feeling his going to be another Zab Judah. Where fans are going to overrate him because of his talent. He is very gifted no doubt. But, I don't think he has the intangibles or the strength mentally to be a true elite.
But, he might be able to put it all togehter. But, for me the jury is still out on him. The way he acted this whole S6 was just head scratching to me.
Oh I agree about how he often leaves ppl scratching their heads. But his talent is definitely there. He just needs to put it together. Dawson is probably the most gifted of all of them but he is mentally limited for some reason. I dunno wat it is with him. But I think whatever it is will keep him from making it to the top. And I like Cunningham but he's getting old just like Hopkins. Its gonna be up to those three I.e. Ward, Dawson and Direll to carry the banner in the future.
That's not true. Smw us one of the deepest divisions in all of boxing. Deeper than every weight class but bantam and jww probably.

I meant best American fighter. My fault.

Ward is good but one must remember the talent pool isn't as deep as the lower weight classes.

Well, he's the best fighter in arguably boxings best division. Consider this, the 2 top pfp fighters reside in the same weightclass & have never fought. Ward sonned every oponent in the best weight class in the sport.
hes the best fighter above 160. only one close is direll. and that includes bhop and dawson.
With all their styles it's a bit tricky to figure out who's better without them fighting each other.
Good enough to dominate Kessler, Green, Abraham, and Froch in whatever way he felt like fighting them, never fighting their fight. And good enough to outfight Bika at his own game. Also outboxing a one-dimensional and a bit faded, but still dangerous puncher at the time, in Edison Miranda.
At 27 years old, i'd say he's done more than other 27 year olds in his era. And being the first ever Super 6 Tournament winner, I think people will look back at him years from now as the most dominant fighter of any future tourney to be held by Showtime.
People don't seem to stop and appreciate the number of W's he just got against the type of opposition he did it against. Ward is just one big win away, against Lucian Bute, from finishing up at 168 and moving on to 175 to fight Dawson, Pascal, Cloud, etc. I don't know what else he could do after 175 if he stays undefeated. I think the Super 6 basically helped him advance his career way too much.
He's really really good.
I've said it after he fought Abraham. He can fight every style. He may not have 1hko power but he can box, brawl, slug, inside, outside, mid-range. He's too good.
He'll lose eventually because I don't think he will cherry pick. But he is really good.
