]He some how was favourite against ddd in 1st fight. Nobody will have Fabio favourite to win in rematch. Could Fabio win rematch? Stranger things have happened, but probably no.
Was he really? I didn`t check the odds.
That's sad to hear. I've always thought Dubois wasn't the smartest to put it politely. Reminds me of Wilder in that respect. Hopefully he'll be able to wisen up and learn to fight tactically and follow his trainer's instructions. Huge potential if he does.
He's not wrong, but in fairness, from the outside at least, this seemed like a friendship too - and for me, stabbing my friend in the back is something I would never do personally. Especially if already a millionaire.
Never mix business with friendship.
Tyson Fury does not need to reprove himself vs. Agit Kabayel 'in my opinion he just needs to get a few solid level wins. To justify a trilogy fight vs. Oleksandr Uysk' etc.
Wouldn't Kabayel be a solid level win?
It can be a disadvantage if a fighter is struggling to make the weight, even, as we've seen, to the point of being dangerous. But a weigh-in day of the fight rules out both scenarios. the weight bully and the fighter putting himself in danger. Apollo7 - Breadman has alluded to his specialised knowledge when asked about the procedure for rehydrating - he said he wouldn't elaborate as he doesn't want to give away trade secrets.
I don't know. I've heard the argument that with same day weigh ins, fighters would still try to cut weight and with less time to rehydrate, it would be more dangerous. I'm no expert though.
DeeMoney "Good on them, this should be done for ALL fights regardless of the sanctioning bodies involved. Its the closest thing we'll get to same day weigh ins. People complain about weight bullies, this is how you stop it. Keep them as close to an equal weight as close to opening bell as possible."
quote button not working now.
Totally agree with you about weight bullies. Breadman says he doesn't believe in weight bullies - if you can make the weight you're all good to go. That's disingenuous and may reflect on him having an edge over other trainers when it comes to rehydrating safely.
In essence - if massive weight gains are allowed after weigh-in then we have a hybrid sport measured by A/ how good are your boxing skills and B/ (i) your genetics re dehydration and quick recovery and (ii) your team's knowledge about safe dehydration and rehydration
I wouldn't say it's really disingenuous. I think Breadman was simply saying the rules are the same for both fighters and cutting a lot of weight can be a disadvantage as well as an advantage.
Coverdale
IDK about you but I'm kind of hoping Makhmudov can pull it off, I have no interest in seeing greedy belly again.
The MMA guy gave him some trouble so you never know...
Is it to far fetched that Hearn is playing Zuffa with the Benn move? Honestly let's say Benn did came to Hearn and told him about that offer, it would be super smart to instruct Benn to take the offer as 1 fight deal and pick a stepping stone opponent to blast out and look good against while testing if you can get down to 147. This bout is at 150 because Benn does not know if he can make 147, this fight is a test. Zuffa was offering a long term deal but he declined, so maybe that's all one big play fromMatchroom and Benn.
It would be genius if after the fight you will see a video popping up Benn and Hearn sitting together and laughing about Dana and how they played him from the start and that this is chess and not checkers and he just wasted 15 million financing a tune up for Matchroom and Benn and now he is going to fight the meaningful fight for the WBC belt the real belt not the Suffer Title.
If (big IF) thats the case that would be 10-8 round Hearn.
No this thought did cross my mind too because of the fact that it's reported as a one fight deal. A longer term contract would have meant he has definitely jumped ship.
However it's also not far fetched to believe that Benn is just plain ruthless and open to the highest bidder.
I know these guys aren't necessarily the sharpest tools in the box but I was surprised Lopez was dumb enough to fight Stevenson. Would be equally surprised if Garcia fought him but I'm not complaining. It's better than guys avoiding each other.
Regis was getting jelly -legged from very pedestrian looking punches from Catterall. He's completely shopworn and his punch resistance is compromised. Definitely concerned for him, especially since Benn will likely juiced...or I mean "egged" to maximum levels.
Yep. My first thought was "I wonder what kind of drug testing there will be".
when we went to a guy who had failed a drug test twice and we said, ‘No, we believe in him.’ We stood in his corner
Oh give it a rest. You knew he was a drug cheat just like literally everybody else did but you saw an opportunity to make money. Well Benn saw an opportunity to make money with Turki. Get over it. These mofos deserve each other.
1. This is what you get and deserve for backing a drug cheat.
2. Expecting an obvious money loving drug cheat like Benn to have morals and not go where the most money is, is ridiculous.
When somebody is full of negative energy, you have to get away from them. For example, the same way his wife left him for a brother with a bigger johnson, he gotta leave his pops for a smarter trainer
For those with the mental strength and maturity, yes, changing trainer is a no brainer. I'm not sure Teo can handle the potential drama though. He seems mentally and emotionally weak. Keeping his idiot dad around suggests this is the case.
Not really surprising that he's coming back. The exhibitions etc show he still wants/needs to make money and fighting is what he knows.
It's also not really that interesting imo. His style isn't the most exciting and now we won't even be witnessing elite p4p evel performance.
Moving up makes sense I guess. 3 division champ looks good on the resume and the champs there don't seem unbeatable. Teo Vs Ryan for a belt would be a big fight if it were to happen.
As crazy as it may seem, I think keeping the dad also makes some sense in a way. Sr seems unstable so sacking him might cause a lot of personal life drama which could really negatively affect Teo.
He only backed Benn for the drug test as he was his investment, and to still make money off him future fights such as Eubank. He had the name and built a profile where he was getting the views, Eubank fights boosted his profile even more. Big L from Eddie not having him signed to a contract. No one is loyal Eddie has his own interests. He did not back Benn because of loyalty and friendship he backed him cause he was one of his big names for his company
Same way when Whyte was on a fight by fight basis he backed his failed drug tests when he was one of the big names and hid the test from everyone. Same thing as Whyte was making him money and PPVs. Fast forward when Whyte was washed and failed another test and AJ rematch got cancelled, did he back Whyte about test, no, not even a word of backing, why because he was basically washed at that point outside of the AJ rematch they tried to sell Whyte was not going to be a regular headliner ppv at that point. Do not feel sorry for any of them. They will all do what is best for their financial interest.
Eggsactly this. Eddie wasn't backing him because he felt like being a nice person. He was trying to make money off/with him. It's business, simple as that. Anybody thinking otherwise is naive imo.
Manny Robles could have engineered this. He arrived late on purpose so that he could then say, if we can't watch your fighters hands being wrapped you can't see our fighter's hands being wrapped - which is exactly what he did say - and what happened according to him.
That's interesting.
He’s about to make a f-cking sh-road of money. He can’t lose.
If he gets brutally ktfo no one will care. If he wins, he positions himself for more massive paydays.
I hope it's as simple as that because unfortunately sometimes people do get seriously hurt in boxing.
People hating on Bradley because he said PAC was great. People would hate on him if he said PAC wasn't great. It's true what they say, haters gonna hate.
