Very effective and accurate article. I agree with it. Good fighters with good skill, or good power, or good speed, are good fighters. Good fighters with good brains, are GREAT fighters.
There have been dozens of fighters who could have easily won every belt in their division, but most of those fighters chose to win titles in multiple divisions. Is there any doubt that DeLaHoya could have won every meaningful belt at 130 or 135 if he had stuck around? Same goes for Morales at 122. Hopkins accomplished this feat by staying away from the elite 168 pounders while he was in his prime at 160 (ex Jones, Nigel Benn, even Charles Brewer!). Let's not make a big deal about a guy staying at 1 weight his whole career.
u make it sound like he soft, When your in a division and u dominate for your whole time there, that speaks for itself, being in diff divisions is good. Being dominant in your main division, division you start at and then end your career at when he chooses to, thats speaks for itself, Its dependant on how the fighter sees it, but its not for anybody but the fighter to really argue agaisnt it. You fight at the weight your comfortable in, he train hard, If thats the weight his body fights at optimally and naturally, thats what he's going fight at, and he know's that. Its good to know your opponents, Its better to know yourself, he does, Micky Ward did, he stayed at Jr. Welterweight his whole career. When you know where, how, and what your body is capable of, its a better advantage than knowing what your opponents capable of. Think bout it bruh
well in boxing, nothings impossible, but as for what is PROBABLE, yeah, hopkins is an intelligent and well rounded boxer puncher and he would most likely demolish lacy at the moment, lacy still has a lot to learn and any man can learn and fix mistakes, he didnt make it to a the Olympics by accident, just making the team is a struggle within it self, so this man has something to work with, with the right insight and some fine tunin he could be more than just a puncher, he could be a boxer puncher, and that would make him and his power more dangerous, but at the moment, at his stage and Hopkins stage, Hopkins would dominate him now and anytime in the near future. I think a more realistic and interestin bout in terms of competition from both sides would be the 2 olympians, Jermaine Taylor vs Jeff Lacy. But Hopkins vs Lacy, ill repeat again, NO, we all saw wha happen to hitler when he went into Russia, same scenario, sorta.
Ouma has, above all else, the one most single important thing in boxing, HEART, that in itself at 100% used can give ANYbody trouble ANYnight. I still think Tito would win, but it wont be an easy fight for him, unless Ouma doesnt come out in top physical and mental shape. Mayorga had a good chin 2, but much good it did him. Its 90% mental.
Tarver vs Johnson, who gives a fck, de verda, everybody countin Roy Jones out like he's done for over 2 lossess, the man dominated his ring for years and now cuz of 2 lossess he's out, nah the man jus got beat because his mistakes finally caught up to him, he let his habits go on 2 long witout correcting them or even payin them any mind because he was winning and gettin away with it because of his skill and speed, if this man was to honestly take a good look at himself technically, work to drop his habits, basically start from scratch where he left off as an amatuer, he will catch his second win and second reign at the top, but he has to do it for himself, its bout heart, and even he said he doesnt have the drive anymore, so if nething it was himself that beat him worse than those 2, if he doesnt hav it no more, then yes he is done and he should retire, because that drive is everything in boxing. Someone had to say it, and i said it, eventho i got off topic, it had to be said. Now those 2, i could care less,i usually like 2 see skill, but for these 2, i jus wanna see sum1 get knocked da fck out
Hopkins condition has not been damaged by his age, he has more experience, the wisdom to use that experience, and his intelligence is the same if not improved. Tito as well has become mentally sharper, and his condition hasnt been fkd by a vacation. He was training for a long time even as a retired fighter. Tito's style however has not changed, and Hopkins' intelligence and ring wisdom allows him to do what Great fighters do, make adjustments, and he has the wisdom, like i said, to use his experience. Tito is a fearsome physical presence fighting, power with both hands, sound defense, and heart the size of the entire island of puerto rico, and Hopkins is an excellent fighter all around with intelligence and creativity in the ring, he can simultanusly study and adjust to his opponents strengths/weaknessess. Y? its not a godgiven talent, its because he has trained himself to do so since the beginning instead of jus relying on physical talents. i see a difficult fight for both, they are both different fighters with difficult styles. Tito is a sound all around, and so is hopkins. In my opinion, if Hopkins come in focused and mentally sharp as he did and has, and i do believe he will, i believe its a 12 rd decision for Hopkins. or maybe sooner, who knows?
Yes, mayorga is about as technically sound as 3rd grade after school fight, however, to beat the man is exhaustin both mentally and physically, his power makes be alert for any body movement for 12 rounds. Wether tito is back physically is not as clear cut, my opinion is that mentally he is still sharp in the game. But it is tru that Winky has a good defensive style, and that brings me a couple years back to a technical boxer puncher with a defensve style and stance that everybody thought tito would run over, BERNARD HOPKINS, no need to repeat the unneccessary i think every1 saw what happened. While Winky is no Hopkins righ now,he does possess some of those same qualities at a younger age. That fight would be something to see, I'm not sure who would win, thats my honest opinion
im new here 2, actually im new to forums completely, not readin them, but actually interactin and postin, so the pts system is sumthin of a new thing to me pero ta'to ill play along
o yea, but the left hook thing, yeah i forgot bout that 1, yea that'll do it, like i said Tito has the upper hand in many rounds and jus plainly in many aspects of the fight, but still.. tu sabe, i still stand by it thats its fairly matched at the moment, i said it, i stand by it
in all honesty, i think its a matched fight with all things considered thoroughly, and i can see it goin to the decision, who will get it, depends on the mental sharpness and condition of the other. I give tito the upper hand in many rounds, yet Winky is not to be unnacounted for and can match with Tito at the moment. So Im undecided, as for Hopkins vs Wright, No. thats all that needs to be said. NO. no explanation or nothin, jus No.
alotta fighters hav no class, the arrogance is appropriate, suggested, even necessary in the ring, but outta of it, lets be real men, not juveniles, imma young guy, almost 20, and even i dont conduct myself outside the ring with the immaturity some of these pro's do. You think ur hercules inside the ring, ta'to prove it to ur opponent, thats wassup,u sho him he aint got no business in that ring wit u, but outside that ring, ur a man like any other outside, act like it.
