All sanctioning bodies recognises only one belt per division, so all these people calling the ones with Regular, recess, emeritus, gold, interim, silver, franchise beltholders champs are just re tards…. The WBA have a super beltholder, which is the one belt recognised by others, so fans need to follow that trend.
When you are passionate about something, you work to change it for the better and that is the point of this thread. Can we sticky this topic? I think I speak for everyone here when I say THIS SPORT HAS TO CHANGE. We all agree that the power comes from sanctioning bodies. You go to the power source to change something.
At least Tournaments within Sanctioning Bodies to determine the REAL #1 Ranked Fighter/Mandatory instead of guys come out of nowhere to being ranked #1 and Mandatory without them ever even fighting any of the other fighters within that Top 15 of The Sanctioning Body Rankings
Here is the Bombshell to Fix Everything...All Champions of other Sanctioning Bodies should still be ranked with and have the opportunity to climb up the Ranks of other Sanctioning Bodies. Meaning for example, after a fighter Climb the Ranks and become WBC, he should then be allowed to climb up the ranks of other sanctioning bodies (WBA, IBF, WBO) and earn himself the opportunity to Unify as long as he pays his "FEES" which is really all this is about is "FEES" "MONEY". Always thought it was ridiculous that you win a Belt with 1 Organization, then the other just erase you from their Rankings! THIS is the real Issue that nobody wants to talk about!
So the Presidents of the 4 Major Sanctioning Bodies (Sulaiman, Mendoza, Peoples, Valcarcel) need to come together and really try to make some Drastic Changes for the Better of the sport. They get all their "Fees" and the fans get what we want more consistently and the sport gets back to what it use to be and everybody wins.
Can one of the mods here suggest writing a letter to someone? Someone around here who has a little bit of pull. Can we draft up something? A legit proposal. Some type of letter that says this is how fans of boxing wish the sport was like.
I don’t know how this would work exactly. I’m just brainstorming ideas.
But how could we make the sport better? If they can’t go away and we have to live with them, there has to be some type of tournament system to force a unified champion at some point. I think if there is a recognized champ, meaning either WBA, WBO, WBC, or IBF, there should be a forced unification at some point.

convince prospects and guys moving up in weight to stop caring about belts
what's a title worth if it was taken from someone who isn't the "real champ"
vacant belts are a joke too. But fighters still want them
example manny was already an atg and rich but was willing to pay for a vacant belt for the margarito match
I would be fine with guys fighting for a vacant belt if it is between a ranked 1 and 2 or from someone in that sanctioning body’s top 10, but if a guy is just weight jumping and was never even ranked ever by that sanctioning body, no. You need to fight at least 1 other guy from that top 10 before becoming a champ in that weight class.
Remember. LEVELS. We need to separate the levels here.
Okay so if a boxer is an active, recognized champ from WBA and he wants to jump up in weight and fight for a vacant title. He needs to first fight someone else from that weight class. You cannot jump into a new weight class and fight for a title right away. Don’t care who you are. These are fixed rules.
Actually, make him fight someone else in that top 10 rank. Remember this is supposed to be a world level anyways. How many times have we seen guys sit on belts? Fine sit on the belt, but you need to fight someone ranked from that sanctioning body. Don’t like it? Fine. Try another sanctioning body’s top 10 or don’t be ranked.
Unified champions need to happen or should happen more frequently. They should be forced. No sitting safe as a recognized champ in a sanctioning body.
Okay. Look. Check this out right. Once you are considered ranked in a sanctioning body’s top 10, you can only fight other guys in that weight class. You are considered LOCKED IN. Meaning. A boxer can only be ranked by ONE sanctioning body at a time. This will cause less confusion as far as who is who and where.
If you are ranked 10th by WBC, you can only fight guys in that top 10 in WBC. You cannot fight anyone from another top 10 in the other sanctioning bodies.
Meaning, for the rest of the sport, promoters, managers, boxers, they can carry on and fight whoever else they want and see fit. Fine. But. WHEN YOU ARE RANKED BY A SANCTIONING BODY, YOU CAN ONLY FIGHT OTHER BOXERS THAT ARE ALSO RANKED BY THAT SANCTIONING BODY AND ARE IN THAT WEIGHT CLASS. AND YOU ARE LOCKED IN MEANING NO WEIGHT JUMPING AT THAT POINT. YOU RANKED. YOU’RE LOCKED OR FACE A HEAVY PENALTY.
Never going to happen!

Honestly I think Boxrec is pretty solid at being able to tell were a fighter is currently at , their top 10 can be pretty ass sometimes but after that they do a pretty good job at letting us know how close a fighter is to world level . I wish DAZN , PBC , TopRank etc. would put fighters Boxrec rankings next to their records so fans can get a good idea of the level of fighters they are watching .
Boxrec is amazing as a database. Since they actually try to make the ranking a point system, I respect it a lot more than say a sanctioning body.
That is a good idea just for informational purposes. Something that boxing as a sport lacks, is criteria for rankings and even if Boxrec ranking isn’t “official” and even Boxrec has some type of system in their ranking. The fact that it isn’t attached to a sanctioning body just makes me respect it.
It sucks that we have to endure 4 different ¨world champs¨ per division just because we have 4 major sancitioning bodies, it's a fucking joke and confusing for new fans and casuals
that's not even counting the retarded trinket belts that these greedy corrupt organizations keep creating just to milk the fighters for as much as they can (all that silver, regular, franchise champion crap)
to me, only someone who has collected the majority of belts (3/4) is the real world champ and kingpin of the division, the others are paper champions, or trinket belt holders
that means Joshua, Canelo, Josh Taylor, Teofimo Lopez and Jermell Charlo are the only real world champs atm
I had a discussion with EffPandas a long time ago. I remember in another thread, that he wants some type of farm system similar to MLB. There are clearly LEVELS in this sport. For instance. Let’s say a guy who is considered “MLB” level wants to jump up a weight class right? His first match at a new weight class would typically be against an double A or triple A level guy. We need to have some type of criteria to let people know that hey. This guy is not “MLB” level. Let people know that the “MLB” level guy is in a new weight class now and is testing the waters in the “semi-pro” level. We need some type of hard, fixed criteria that defines the levels in the sport that we talk about so much that puts a certain boxer in that “level”
I know that we have rankings, but when you have all these sanctioning bodies, it gets confusing and they can be manipulated. But when you have someone who is “undefeated” we need to have some way to let casuals know that he is undefeated at a certain skill level like single A or double A or triple A. We need to have some type of criteria that is fixed.
All I’m saying is that the sport needs to change in a way that makes it more competitive. If we keep the sanctioning bodies, we need more mandatories like Crawford fighting Porter. And boxers must honor them or they get a heavy fine or suspension from the sport. I’m talking a year long suspension and like a $100,000 fine. No running.
And more tournaments. There must be a tournament at a weight class every year. This is mandatory stuff.

For me fighters such as Floyd or Alvarez are the man with or without a belt
thats true floyd himself said belts are for collecting dust and he did 'transcend' the belts with his achievements and canelo is doing pretty good himself but the rest of the guys need sorting out, plus even the top top guys pick and choose (maybe especially at times) and do avoid certain fights or age them which is not good for the sport imo
i could be wrong but i think a lot of fans like to see their 'guy' holding belts and aloft after fights etc, there has to be some way of distinguishing the top guys from the lesser guys and unfortunately the belts are it, they also have history to them but there is too much BS now and getting worse too, maybe for example the wbc and say ibf can twin to themselves and they have to unifiy to each other every year & once a champ emerges they fight the other 2's champ for all the belts, or there could be a north american champ v south central america (mexico) etc, euro champ and rest of the world champ, make it interesting and force them to fight each other every year
Please. I want the fu#king sport to resemble an actual sport like the good ‘ol fashion days.
The good old-fashioned days were mostly the same crap. If Julio Cesar Chavez Sr beating 90 cab drivers is part of these great old days, I think we are best served just staying as we are. Or Tyson rolling bum after bum, before it all fell apart at B level (at best) Douglas. Nash out.
We can no longer get rid of them now, but we can try to bargain.
I suggest that the most vocal sanctioning body would offer to all existing bodies to hire someone powerful and influential with some boxing roots like Donald Trump (think of Dana White in UFC) as a chairman for all the sanctioning bodies to create uniform rules and hierarchy for all bodies.
Then once every 4 years, create a cooperated ultimate tournament, call it Mortal Kombat or whatever that will pit each champ of each sanctioning body at their respective weight. The combined prize money for each sanctioning bodies is so great that every boxer dreams on reaching this ultimate tournament once in their career. But you have to be the man--the champion of a particular sanctioning body in order to qualify to represent them. That means that only the current champions of WBA, WBO, IBF, WBC respectively is qualified to represent this ultimate tournament to determine who is going to be the spiritual king of that particular weight, but the loser of this special tournament still gets to keep their rank as a champ for their respective sanctioning body after the tournament is over (you mustn't get rid of their champ or else sanctioning bodies will never cooperate). This special tournament will be the true world cup of boxing that will run for a couple of weeks or maybe a few months in Pay Per View.
So the agenda of having a boxing champ for each sanctioning body is still there (you can't get rid of this, otherwise sanctioning bodies will never cooperate), and that makes the bargaining and cooperation easier for all the parties.
With this, boxing fans will get their true people's champ at each weight division by the end of the tournament and a much more clear hierarchy in boxing. There are no particular abhorrent change for the sanctioning bodies that will affect their income, but these 4 sanctioning bodies will become even more powerful as they try to merge into one. It's safe to say that they can bully whomever new sanctioning body wishes to enter the current boxing business. We can't really get rid of them, but we can put a halt to future addition of sanctioning bodies.
I like it. It’s like playoffs for boxing.

Yeah fighters are convinced they need belts and can’t turn one down
Last time I can think of a fighter saying F yo belt
was when Floyd rejected fighting for Shane’s strap over 10 years ago!
If someone told me William Zepeda is the best lightweight right now, I'd accept it, pending a fight with Davis. Zepeda looked the definition of the word "special" in his last fight. I couldn't get enough of those special effects.
