Jake Paul is NOT representing for boxing. He’s representing for Youtubers and white privilege.
Gtfoh with this kid I hope Askren lays him out.
If he's repping the WP, I'm all in.
War Whitey :boxing:
MMA is an art too, it's just much younger. If we say Jack Dempsey ushered in the truly modern era of boxing, boxing still had a 70+ year head start on MMA.
MMA fighters usually train, at minimum:
boxing
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
At least one form of wrestling (Freestyle, Collegiate, Greco-Roman, Catch, etc)
At least one form of kickboxing (Muay Thai, Dutch, American, Japanese, knockdown Karate, Sanda, Lethwei, Savate, etc)
A huge percentage also train Judo. And others train various Karate styles, Taekwondo, Chinese martial arts, etc.
If you're asking me what's more fun to watch, I'll say boxing every time. If you ask me whether boxers are better at their own sport than mixed martial artists are at theirs, the answer is probably yes.
But it's ignorant to deny the skill involved in MMA. The fighters have to cover so much in training because there are so many variables to worry about. It's really only been a major thing since the mid-1990s. Boxing has its ebbs and flows as far as style but it has basically been the same for 100+ years.
A lot of disciplines involved in MMA, there is no denying that and the training is so multifaceted. MMA is recent so it will take some time to fine tune it some more. I don't think that many don't like the grappling too much and it gets undeserved flak for that.
MMA is two bums who failed out of the YMCA basketball team rolling around the ground like homeless men for $5,000 purses. They are bums
Those "bums" have 10x as many techniques in their skillset as a boxer and would beat boxers in pretty much any kind of fight except for pure Queensberry rules.
Is Paul smashes Akren or even wins for that matter, mma will be stricken with a deadly cancer that will wipe the entire sport out. You can't take a loss or a ko loss to a youtube star, you just can't and have any sort of legitimacy moving forward.
When mma guys lose to boxers it's like, they box of course they're better. But a youtuber, bro, that's a wrap.
WAR PAUL, le'ts end this!!!
Askren has probably the worst striking skills in UFC history, he will lose badly but it wont say anything about MMA as a whole. The guy was victim to a literal 5 second one shot KO in the UFC for ****s sake.
Jake Paul is good for boxing, first of all he’s a clean fighter, he trains hard, at his level he’s not cherry picking, he brings new fans to the sport, an he actually listens to former champions an fighters who give him advice!
I would love for Paul to clean out Hollywood in a boxing ring, would love every minute of him crushing douchebags, aholes, divas, coddled, an entitled actors!
Can you imagine Jake Paul knocking out Dustin Diamond or Sylvester Stallone?
Screech riddled with cancer going through chemo would be the ultimate cherry pick. Stallone on the other hand would be funny to see.
Didnt both Paul brothers wrestle in college? he knows that its technical. He also knows that Askren is also a wrestler and about as one dimensional as an MMA fighter gets this side of the year 2000. He wouldnt be accepting a boxing match with Adesanya, Gaethje, Holloway, Masvidal etc lol.

Agreed. His first fight was against a fellow YouTuber. His second fight was against a world class athlete. His third fight will be against a world class cagefighter. That's decent progress with every opponent.
More importantly it's great to see him knocking out guys who think their phony street cred toughness means anything in a boxing fight.
I honestly would mind if he just kept knocking out celebrity tough guys for a while but he seems to be taking it more seriously.
Yea, I was impressed with Jake Paul from his very first fight because you can tell it took it serously and it appears he fall in love with the sport.
People who are hating on his fights right now are just that "hating" because if Jake Paul didnt have the name and was just some prospect turning pro he would be fighting no names from Mexico who are 1-22-9 or who never fought before and no one would be complaining. Here he is fighting decent competition relative to his number of fights.
I dont see the issue atm, this is his 3rd pro fight and he is fighting a ex world champion form MMA. Sure its not the same but its also not some untrained bum who cant even go the rounds.

Jake Paul is the most electrifying man in boxing today. When he fights the world pays attention. He is on his road to redemption from loudmouth YouTube star to a humble student of the greatest sport. War Paul.
Askren isn't even a striker, he's a wrestler. It won't be very pretty to watch. Jiu jitsu at a high level is impressive to watch though, bjj trickster on youtube is great.
Is Paul ever going to fight a guy who is actually a pro boxer and not a retired basketball player or an mma guy?
