He is not a special talent like Mayweather, Pac, Duran or even Edwin Valero. ded srs.
Lopez is a very basic fighter and he is not special. He does not have power. He does not have insane athleticism. He does not have any tricks. He is simply not a HOF talent.
Yet he beat Lomachenko. he's 15-0 without the amateur pedigree. lol Loma fans are trying to big him up like some great fighter. no he isn't. Loma lost to a someone that would be called a scrub on Pac or Mayweather's resume.
Loma is the most overrated fighter boxer on these forums for years.
Yeah he is solid. He reminds me of Danny Garcia. The main reason he beat Loma was size. Loma's hype at LW was a bunch of BS. He was just good, not special. He was special at 130. He made Gary Russell Jr. Look average at 126. Its ok of he moves back down. There's good fights there.
Lopez meanwhile I'm not sure how gold he really is. If he moves up to 140.he might just be a decent contender. I get the feeling Arum knows this deep down.
bad night for loma fixed or not he is not in himself that night.. but i saw teo got exposed a little bit.. he's been hugging more often during the last couple of rounds and got hurt.
loma's plan didn't work.. that's a wasted opportunity.
was this after the ref gave Loma a breather during the onslaught?
It was after, but he was already cleared by then, which is why he was able to come out blazing. I don’t think Lopez landed a punch after the left hook. He threw a lot. Landed maybe one more punch (before the break.) That’s the punchers chance. Anyway. He wasn’t in that much trouble.
And the point stands. Final rd. Lopez was emptying the gas tank and Lomachenko was trying to force a KO or KD atleast. I think Lomachenko showed he’s tough enough to take a good few from Lopez. Starting earlier only benefits Lomachenko imo.
But it was Teo who got his head snapped back with his back against the ropes when it ended, lol. Forget it.

let's not act like Loma wasn't saved by the bell

Possibly, but the 12th showed that if both open up, Loma is going to sleep
Has anyone revisited the 12th? Lomachenko wasn’t in that much trouble. And obviously, pressure early, is not similar to trying to force a dramatic finish in the closing minutes. All Loma needs to do is start earlier. Lopez will tire. His offense/threat of countering is his defense.
Lomas last 6 rounds > teos first 6 rounds.
It's just Teos 12 rnd was superior to lomas 2nd.

According to my friend Rusty Trombone over in the history section Lopez is better than anyone Ray Robinson ever fought! He said "Lopez is scary!"
I don't know who to believe these days:hail:
Seriously though: the kid is very young. He is extremely coachable, something that could be an asset later down the line. Also, we never got to see his strong points. He outboxed Loma. all he needed to do was use the jab technically accurately (which he did) and follow to the body. He did show some chops... good footwork and timing to step away when Loma tried to angle a shot...
the kid is a puncher. He has that rare commodity for a light weight... Power. The only time I saw him actually use that was when LOMA had to come to him... In the eleventh he laid back and got punched in the face, in the twelfth he said "fvk it" and he was able to hit a desperate Loma.
I think he has the technical skills to maybe be great if he develops. If he fights Haney that will be a great predication for the future regarding these two guys... Haney is also a talented guy, and could beat Lopez, or vice versa. He could also wind up just an excellent fighter, someone like Cotto... a guy who had flashes of exceptional ability and ultimately had a great career, but never became a truly ATG talent.
"teo isnt that great"
considering how canelo looked against floyd at his age......jesus....teo is 23...there are holes but there is certainly room and time to improve....how many 23 year olds are taking on top 3 p4p guys let alone beating them?
Totally agree
Although I will say that Floyd was a better fighter than Loma but that doesn’t take away how great of a job Lopez did, you don’t fluke these wins. you have to be a real talent.
I think what a lot of people are missing is that he actually decisioned Loma. it’s not like he just caught him cold or cleaned him out with a shot he didn’t see. The fact he outboxed him with no dirty tricks or controversy tells me he’s operating on a very very high level
I don’t think he’s great, but he has potential for greatness. He just outboxed, outworked a guy who went 396-1, beat every man he faced in amateurs, and won 2 Olympic Gold medals. Lomachenko is also a true champion, he beat good fighters to show he deserves to be crowned a champ. Loma lost to Salido and while I thought the loss itself was fair, you can’t ignore that Salido came in overweight and heavy on fight night.
Teofimo Lopez might not be great but I don’t see him losing to any 135-140 pounder right now, or anyone below him coming up.
lomo didnt throw any punches.
he was to scared 😝Loma won rounds 8 9 10 and 11 by taking the fight to Teo and landing more punches in all of those rounds by actual count so he was not scared and you are lying about the fight because you are a big time Loma hater.Loma stayedaway and did not throw punches for the first 7 rounds but if he was scared he would have stayed away in the last 5 rounds instead of attacking Teo and winning 4 of the last 5 rounds. Get some fight watching glasses.

Loma is the most overrated fighter boxer on these forums for years. He is not overrated now. Happy? he WILL be in the HOF. You may hate that but he will go to the hall on the first ballot as soon as he been retire long enough to get in. He will go there from what he has already done. If you were in charge of the hall of fame he would never get in but you are not in charge of it and he will go to the hall.
so you're saying lomo did not want to hit teo for 97% of the fight?
You watched the fight. I guess I missed the part when Lopez was slipping all of Lomas punches.
Lopez is very talented. He has dealt good power and decent speed.
But I agree with the media’s of this thread, he’s not some super talented fighter who’s going to be a fighter if the decade candidate in 10 years.
Loma at 130 at his best gets stopped by Pacquiao and either stopped or shutout 12-0 to Mayweather. He was a hype job. He has been exposed.
He looked like a young May to me. Maybe not as active, but close to it.
He looked nothing like a young mayweather. Maybe a young version of old floyd if that makes sense Lol
I kinda agree. He doesnt look like a special talent but he can still have a HOF career. I dont think canelo is a special talent but hes more than likely a HOF fighter
