Why would crawford want to fight porter? Makes no sense

It will make for a great fight. Porter is a former champ, has a difficult style, and would be the biggest name on Bud's resume - all points people here have already made. Also, if it gets promoted properly, it can be a good opportunity to get some new eyes on Crawford. If he can beat Porter convincingly, with a lot of PBC viewers watching, that can only help the eventual Crawford/Spence ppv numbers. Plus, it will be a hell of a fight to watch - boxer vs brawler. Great stuff!

There's just no other choice for TC at this point doe. The others are peppered with excuses not to fight Bud. Nothing can be done about it. It is what it is. I'd prefer Thurman, but nobody knows what this guy wants next. Thurman would present TC all kinds of problems in the ring.

... Porter is the best Bud can get from PBC for now... ... and if Crawford wins, then they will say that Brook, Thurman, and Spence already beat Porter... this is how it goes... People can also say Porter arguably beat them as well or at least it was a real close fight. If Crawford beats Porter convincingly, trust me, it will land a huge statement towards the whole PBC WW roster. Crawford's performance will be compared to Spence, Thurman and Garcia's. Being the 1st one to beat Porter convincingly will be a big thing

I think he should take it. Crawford wants the belts, he wants to fight the champions but the PBC wont do it but atleast they are now prepared to throw him 1 scrap from behind their moat and wall. Its not for a belt and its a fighter who lost his last fight but it was a close loss and against a very good fighter. Porter is a known name in America who fights on the highest level. If Bud wants Spence how about doing a number on Porter, a number Spence struggled to do. It would put much more pressure on a unification with Spence or Pacquaio. In my opinion its not really the fight we want but Crawford hasnt got too many choices at the top right now, id take it. There is no point holding out for Spence or Pacquaio he isnt getting a fight with either of those right now. Porter is as good as anybody else.

Crawford has never faced a top 10 welterweight. He needs to prove he can compete in the division. All this p4p is all talk until he beats a top welterweight.

I would much rather see Spence or Pac vs. Crawford, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with Porter fight. He has some decent wins on his resume, and even though he did lose to most champs, it's always VERY close (Thurman, Spence). Porter is an absolutely legitimate WW challenger. If Pac gets some sort of a big money fight while Spence is still damaged, Crawford should jump on the Porter fight.

Porter lost to almost every champ he fought and holds no title. Crawford has been calling out spence forever now. I see no reason what so ever what fighting porter would do to crawford's career. The guy already has a title. He needs to focus on unifying. Because only the very top guys are going to beat Porter, he always brings it , not just a good test for TC its a crowd friendly fight that would do decent numbers.
