There's more energy on this than the actual fights itself. Wilder/Ortiz 2 has been over for about a two weeks and detectives are still trying to find the actual ppv buys of the fight.
Agendas probably. They run right through everything on this site.
People like to talk about good PPV numbers if a fighter/promoter/TV channel that they like gets good numbers, but not if a fighter/promoter/TV channel that they like has bad numbers.
If a fighter/promoter/TV channel they dislike does poor numbers, they want to talk about it. But not so much if that same fight does good numbers.
PPV's and purses are a real part of the sport and can dictate what fights do and don't happen. But for the most part on here, it's just used when people are picking what side of the line they are on, as opposed to any genuine discussion on it's impact on the sport.
As someone else said, makes them feel more involved. Or maybe LOL, just maybe, they are looking at what return on their investment they might get. You know, that mil they dropped into the PPV Returns Fund :beerchug:
Its because certain fighters are hiding behind demands based on their so called star power. I wont mention names but one guy has turned down a number of fights for undisputed against Anthony Joshua because he felt he was the A side or joint A side cuz hes just a big a star, which he really isnt. So we dont get the fight we want cuz some dumb yank unnamed hillbilly has got greedy, so we look at why its not happened and who is being reasonable and who is being too demanding and generally stopping this fight getting made. Which means we need to crunch those numbers.
Say what you want, but AJ went on VIDEO saying he wouldn't fight Wilder yet because he wasn't ready. Explaining how Wilder has 5 years on him in experience so he was going to wait until Wilder was on the way out before he went at him. Pure diva pu$$y ****. No wonder he took on dinosaur Wlad.
Meanwhile Wilder had an expression that almost gave him a heart attack (on video) when someone joked with him that AJ wouldn't fight him unless he reached 50-0.

These boxers actually want to get paid for all the brain trauma they are getting, I mean who cares thou right as long as we the fans get our pound of flesh who gives a damn about if they make a living or not.
bro if thats what you choose to do then cool; I just dont agree but hey; have at it lol, i have a right to complain just as much as you have a right to argue about it!
I'm just a boxing fan sir, id actually like to eventually have a discussion about actual fights, techniques, strategies... I get we are in the age of social media and all this stuff but I'm not really interested in seeing grown men brag on how many more followers their fighter has.

I like floyd but he started this... him and his fanbase affected the rest. “Oh i don’t have a dance partner”
Negotiation for pac-floyd broke down every faucet of the game financially just to make it happen.
I haven’t heard oscar use ppv excuse to fight anyone.. and he was the mega star before floyd and pac.
I haven’t heard pac either. Or tyson or anyone before floyd for that matter..
He’s a genius yeah.. but he started this
People who don't make much money always focus on what others are Making :dunno: it is true FANS (Short for FANATICS) are fascinated by what Celebrities Makes which is why we have FORBES and other things like that which mostly just talk about Rich People Money getting Richer and Rank them every year :dunno:
So it is not just in Boxing, FANS in General live vicariously through their favorite Celebs and brag about their accomplishments as if they are getting some of their money
Wilder and Ortiz are Millionaires while you have fans struggle to pay rent trying to talk down on their event and their purses

You do know that those numbers in this day and age directly correlate to your earning potential right ?
Its like a person who had 8 million subs on youtube. Just from adsense they are making anywhere from 100 to 1.2 million a month alone.
You need to keep up with how money is made online nowadays.

they also argue over who has more Instagram and twitter followers

Boxing has become a business and unfortunately, that's what makes fights happen these days, how much of a PPV draw you are or how well known you are. All about that all mighty dollar.
I can agree with a lot of what you posted. I think social media has done a job, a bad one mind you, thats contributed to a lot of what youre talking about...
The thing too is that this is not a personal attack against anyone. This is objective facts. Yet I bet people will still get offended because its easier to believe a lie than acceptable harsh truth.
The best fights don't happen often enough so instead of arguing who is better, the worst fanboys argue over who is ducking who. One way is to use financial claims 'well his last fight was a flop so he should just accept whatever offer his biggest rival gives and don't complain or it's a duck' and it can go the other way 'his last fight was a success so his rival ducked in not offering more/accepting his offer'
This sounds like Big Dunn and the more pathetic sounding Floyd Boys like Larry to a t.

It's because of deontay wilder and the pbc's hate towards AJ, Eddie Hearn and Dazn.
They began to scrutinise everything AJ/hearn/dazn were doing..this is the end result.
A lot of people who beleive they're middle class arent even middle class or close to it.
If you're income isnt at least 50k you arent middle class. That's not even lower middle class. Me and my wife pull in just over 100k and let me tell you that despite being like 85 percentile plus for income in the US we are lower middle class.
Nearly everyone in US is poor but they're too dumb or too proud to admit it.
Crazy how people live vicariously through people eh? Those people are the weakest ones. Too pathetic to live their own life. Need to live it through people they dont even KNOW.

A lot of poor people(even middle class) like to live vicariously through the wealthy as a hobby. Throw human tribalism into the mix and you get a boxing forum full of morons. "He is (insert race) just like me so that makes his accomplishments my accomplishments". Wiki has a decent article on Tribalism give it a read.

Because boxing is business first and foremost as much as we like to pretend its not, if the metrics aren't right then fights don't get made. The fighters themselves often point to these figures as evidence for their standing in negotiations, Spence has done this with Crawford as a prime example. So why wouldn't the knowledgeable fans discuss these things knowing that they affect what fighters demand and the possibility of fights been made...
"I made 5m to fight that guy, I want at least 10m to fight that guy who is more dangerous"
"I sold X amount of PPV more than this guy, I'm not taking less than 60%"
..... Its not a difficult concept to grasp, I just find it weird that suddenly mainly PBC fans want to prevent and police people from talking about these things when for years they used it as justification for their favourite fighters to make outrageous demands or even reject fights.
Its their massive double standards along with short memories. A Spence fan was telling me Spence was going to collect the belts in house and then for Crawford and his belt last cuz with all those belts Spence is for sure the A side. I said fine but wouldnt that make Joshua the A side over Wilder already seeing as he already had those belts. He didnt replay.
Rick Glaser is a untrustworthy lying scum bag and his numbers are to be instantly dismissed when it comes to Wilders numbers but when he reported GGG doing low numbers the same people were telling me Glaser is legit, an insider so its as good as fact.
I could go on. There are so many double standards in their argument its hard to keep up.
Its called the Mayweather effect. He basically created the term "A side", screamed about how much he gets/got paid and how many ppv's he sold. Now that he's gone, the vacuum was created and any and all fighters followed that lead, along with their fanbois. I can almost guarantee that if Mayweather comes back in 2020 as he's claiming he will do, he WILL regurgitate those same sentences and so will his fanbois.
Folks with no prospects, little money, far too invested in their worshipping of the fighter they like, exhibit chick tendencies, and spend their entire time talking about purses, a side, and what a fighter they hate won’t do while their worship of the other guy makes me see them as lacking flaws.
