Which fighters do you think are the absolute stupidest, least self-aware in the ring today?
Khan. He was a very good boxer with good power, but he would throw 4-5 when he should of stuck to 2-3. Even in the Garcia fight where he was killing him he could not see that Garcia figured out he needed to punch WITH Khan. It was obvious what Garcia was trying to do, but Khan kept giving him the chance and paid for it. If Khan had a higher boxing IQ he really could have been a great fighter. He was still good, but he could have been better. His bad chin was never going away, and it would have hurt him vs the very best but he could have hid it much better. Another is Norris and this kills me because I love Terry's ability's, and heart, but he banged when he should have boxed.

Adrein Broner ik he retired this year but yea when combinations come to him he has no answer. He used his speed size and power to make thru the ranks but when it came to dealing with advertisity in live bodys he has no answer other than shell up and go fully defensive for 12rds and occasionally throw a few counters.
Wilder love him big fan but yea his only solution is ko his boxing skills are very limited he dosent go to body to wear opponents down nor does he block or parry shots at him.
He also abandons his jab at times when just trying to land 1 shot a when he could use to better his offense.
Eubank jr like Broner speed and power if he doesn't have that advantage over you he can't adapt speed power are really his main weapons once you take it away with good boxing counters and defense he's lost.
Dont get me started on Chavez jr !!!!!
Amir Khan has all the physical tools, but is totally lost in there.
Chavez Jr.
I know what they meant. I was just reminding everyone how stupid Gayweather is.
And yet his ring IQ was high enough to completely school Canelo and outwitted him 11 rounds to 1
Sometimes a fighter knows what to do, but can not do it... That does not mean he has a low boxing IQ. It's hard to determine sometimes if a fighter is doing things because he doesn't understand how to adjust, or if its because he knows how to adjust but doesn't want to go down that dark path.
This sport isn't for everyone. And it isn't for everyone on this forum either.
Out of the top guys, def Amir khan. It's not just about the things he does wrong. Normally boxers improve in terms of their ring iq as they become veterans. amir should know every trick in the book, yet he still boxes the same basic style like he did was Samuel Vargas.
Fair enough. But don't forget Ruiz is often mistaken for just a fat guy who got lucky. He's an accomplished boxer. I don't see Joshua breaking down Ruiz; he's never been that good a boxer (I'm talking about AJ here) but he can get a KO.
This is a big crossroads fight for AJ. He can pull a Lennox Lewis and come back from a KO, or just become another Frank Bruno...good but not great.
We'll see. I'm really looking forward to this bout!
I think he will systematically break Andy Ruiz Junior down 'Ruiz will most likely be stopped on his feet'. There is one attribute which Joshua has which is of a very high level? 'His meticulous approach to WANTING to improve' I can remember the way Carl Froch used to keep a black book, and record all of his training sessions' It is this kind of intensity that Joshua brings 365 days per year, for what he lacks in natural ability 'He in some ways makes up for it in his approach'.
It most certainly is a crossroads fight for Anthony Joshua, but as you have pointed out? Anthony Joshua may have reached his ceiling in terms of ability and adaptability.
4 minute 50 second mark etc 'The black book'.
Currently...Ted Cheeseman for sure!
That guys just Swings with no regard for defense or head movement...

Exactly why he is 0-2-1 in his last 3 Fights :dunno:
David Lemieux. He has the tools to be Champion, but is just too uncoordinated and undisciplined. It is all about his power instead of setting up that power.
Very true.... He coulda easily been a str8 monster but refuses to add anything to his game

I'd venture to say Roy Jones Jr is one of them.
People are fooled by his insane athletic ability to react and down his opponents.
But once that athleticism declined... what happened? He wasnt that same Roy Jones and of course he wouldnt be with his inability to be a cat with the power of a rhino.
But we neeeeeeever seen him make any sort of adjustment, or tactically beat his opponent.
Because realistically he should never have lost to guys like Tarver and Glen Johnson. If he had Hopkins' level of ring IQ, he'd never take those losses, even with his athleticism declining.
Good post except for the Joshua part. AJ in fact displayed extremely low boxing IQ versus Ruiz...thinking inside the ring? He was thinking about where he could get out of the ring while Ruiz was battering him from post to post. Forgot about the left hook, which was his most effective punch, and didn't grab and hold while he was hurt.
If, and that's a big IF, he makes tactical changes and defeats Ruiz in the rematch, we can revisit this line of thinking.
His ring IQ is not great, but it has improved 'It is in no way of a high level'. That is why this rematch is very intriguing, if Joshua does not improve his ring IQ, basically the same result could happen.
I don't want to see a quick knock out, I would rather Joshua win via completely breaking down Andy Ruiz Junior 'As a fighter Joshua needs that kind of victory, for his own self belief'.
Even though he can change as of 2019 I will also say Jaime Munguia. He's been able to physically bulldoze his opponents but Hogan showed that if Jaime can't do that then he's out of ideas.
BJ Flores vs Beibut Shuminov. Previous to this fight BJ was actually a ringside analyst for one of the networks (I think PBC) but Beibut made Flores look so stupid in the ring, there was one break between rounds where Flores' corner implored their man to cut off the ring and BJ looked at them and said, "How?"
That's a great example. That even goes beyond coaching. How can you not know how angles work?
