His temperament reminds me way too much of Chad Dawson. You can see the talent and skill but the intangibles are lacking. He doesn't seem to have the "dog" in him or the mental toughness needed to be elite, just better than a decent amount of his peers.
Good comparison. After this fight I immediately thought about when Pascal beat Dawson.
That second KD was a perfectly timed counter that Pascal put everything into. While Browne doesn’t have a great chin, that punch would have dropped most.
He needs to stay down for the full 8 though: he hopped up and did the Zab Judah dance right into the ropes. He’s lucky the ref gave him extra time.
Pascal looked way thinner in that fight and strong in all the right places. I think his power may have actually increased as he used to pack excessive muscle.
I actually think he could be the best at 175, he's very difficult to handle at his best.
He just slacks too hard against lesser opposition. Every time he steps up he rises way above the occasion though.
Shutting out Jack arguably 12-0 after he and Gvozdyk both went life and death with Stevenson was very very impressive.
He can neutralize any fighter in the division with that level of focus and that good of an on-night.
Everytime he steps up?
Pascal is probably the 2nd best opponent he has ever faced and he got put on his ass 3 times.
Jack always starts slow and basically also lost the first 6 rounds to Stevenson like he did Vs Browne. Only difference is that his head was split open Vs Browne so we don't really know how well Jack could have done in the later rounds. He could have certainly knocked Browne down without injuries.
And all of the champs hit way too hard for Browne to deal with. Nvm that they are also better and smarter fighters than Pascal. They would tap that chin
He got knocked down 3 times by Pascal, who's not a particularly hard puncher.
I've heard interviews where Hopkins, Froch and Bivol say that Pascal is a big puncher. Don't be fooled by the lack of recent knockouts. Pascal has only been fighting the elite for a while now and that's why the knockouts have dried up. When he connects, he rocks you. But as he's gotten older, he's slowed down a little, and with ambush fighters like him, slowing down takes away his advantage.

Bruh browne does not have a glass jaw. That first knock down he was knocked flat on his back and it looked like he knocked him out clean but he got up instantly

pascal is a very good puncher. he just doesn't have the best timing and precision, so he seldom lands his big shots flush. when he does land clean, well timed punches with leverage he basically always hurts his opponents.
It's no surprise that he got clipped with those kinds of shots. Pascal wings those right hands and Browne has a tendency to keep his lands low because he's accustomed to hold when he gets close, so his left hand wasn't in position to catch the shot.
This is who he is. The fighter that runs the hottest and coldest in the game. He gets lackadaisical in fights he should dominate and has performances like this one. I mean for the most part he was dominating and fighting well, but twice he slipped up and got whacked by two hard shots that put him down.
This is a guy that completely dominated Jack, yet loses to Pascal. I don't doubt he could come back and completely shut Pascal down, but it should never have even come to that. I also wouldn't be surprised if he gives someone like Gvozdyk hell. This is the exact type of fighter he is.
He just got him with some well timed shots. It's not like he was getting dropped by jabs.
He needs to be more careful and defensively responsible next time he fights.
